His Abandoned Luna Chapter 81
|| Lilac's POV ||
The meeting had drained me, both mentally and emotionally. The weight of the decisions made, the alliances formed, and the battles yet to come pressed heavily on my shoulders. As the room emptied, I lingered for a moment, my mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead. But I couldn’t stay hidden forever. The night wasn’t over, and neither was the game.
I slowly dragged my legs back to the grand hall, the muffled sounds of music and laughter growing louder with each step. The opulent chandeliers cast a warm glow over the room, but the air felt heavier now, charged with an undercurrent of tension. I was ready to leave, to retreat to the safety of my home and let the events of the evening settle. But fate— or perhaps Kael’s scheming— had other plans.
As I stepped into the corridor for some fresh air, a familiar voice called out to me.
“Li-Lilac,” Coco stammered, her voice trembling with false innocence.
I turned to see her standing there, her raven hair tied back in a simple braid, her wide eyes filled with a mix of guilt and something darker.
“Hey, Coco,” I said, forcing a smile. My guard was up instantly. She had always been hard to read, her innocent facade masking a cunning and manipulative nature.
“I… I’m sorry for earlier,” she said, her voice soft and apologetic. She held out a glass of wine, the deep red liquid catching the light. “I got you a drink.”
I stared at her blankly, my mind racing. What was she up to? Under that fragile exterior, there was a monster waiting to strike.
“Thank you, Coco, but I’m not drinking tonight,” I said, my tone polite but firm.
Since Runa had gone dormant, I hadn’t been able to handle alcohol well. The last thing I needed was another scene, especially one orchestrated by Kael and Coco.
“But… if you don’t… then…” she trailed off, her eyes darting nervously toward the door. I followed her gaze and saw Kael standing in the hall, his dark eyes flicking toward us for a fraction of a second before he turned back to the man he was talking to.
My stomach churned. Did he ask her to do this? What game were they playing now? One glass of wine might not harm me— unless it was poisoned. But Kael wouldn't dare before everyone. Killing me here would end him too. It mightbe something else. So, I couldn’t take that chance.
“Thanks,” I said, taking the glass from her. I pretended to take a sip, my lips barely touching the rim. Coco’s smile widened, and for a moment, I thought I saw a smirk. So, the drink was spiked. Good to know.
I kept holding the glass as I wandered around the pool, discreetly pouring out small amounts whenever no one was looking. Occasionally, I pretended to take another sip, playing along with their little charade. I wanted to see how far they would go.
When the glass was half-empty, Coco approached me again, her confidence noticeably higher.
“Are you feeling okay?” she asked, her voice sweet but laced with something sinister. So the plan had started.
“Not really,” I lied, pressing a hand to my forehead. “My head…”
“Oh, we actually have a guest room over there,” Coco said, gesturing toward a dimly lit hallway. “You can rest for a bit if you want.”
“Thanks, Coco. You’re a lifesaver,” I said, forcing another smile.
Coco called for another server, a young woman with a timid smile.
“She’ll take you there,” Coco said, her tone almost too cheerful.
The server nodded and gestured for me to follow. I did, pretending to struggle with my balance as we walked away from the crowd. But as soon as we were out of sight, the server’s demeanor changed. She grabbed my arm, her grip surprisingly strong, and started dragging me forcefully down the hallway.
“You shitty mutt, you better behave,” she hissed, her voice low and menacing.
I was taken aback but played along, struggling just enough to make it seem realistic. Soon, we reached a room at the end of the hall. The server opened the door and shoved me inside, but this was my chance. I pulled her in with me, the half-empty glass of wine still in my hand. Before she could react, I shoved the glass to her lips and forced her to drink.
She coughed and sputtered, her eyes wide with shock.
“Never imagined I wasn’t drunk, huh?” I smirked, my voice cold and steady.
“You… you’re all okay,” she stammered, her words slurring as the drug took effect. “But how?”
I leaned over her, my smile sharp and unforgiving. “Because I never drank it.”
She slumped to the floor, her movements sluggish.
“Oh… it feels hot,” she mumbled, tugging at her uniform. So, it was an aphrodisiac. Of course. I smirked as I gave her a tight hug, ensuring my scent would linger on her. Then I walked out, closing the door behind me. Now, it was showtime.
I stood in the shadows of the hallway, my heart pounding as I waited for the next act of their twisted play. It didn’t take long. Soon enough, Kael showed up, his footsteps echoing in the empty corridor. He entered the room, and the sounds that followed were enough to confirm my suspicions. He had planned to force himself on me after drugging me. The thought made my blood boil. He was vile, cheap, and utterly despicable. I punched the wall by me. How stupid I was in my past to mate with this disgusting wolf. And Coco played well.
I stayed hidden, waiting for the drama to unfold. A few moments later, I heard commotion— Coco’s voice, high-pitched and frantic, echoed through the hall. She was running toward the room, clutching her stomach as if in pain. She was such a good actress. She had gathered almost the entire hall, drawing everyone’s attention to the room.
