His Abandoned Luna Chapter 94
|| Lilac's POV ||
The Alpha King stepped down from the stage, his presence still commanding the room even as he retreated into the background.
“Enjoy the evening,” he said, his voice carrying a tone of finality that signaled the formalities were over. But the room erupted into chaos almost immediately.
Generally after this the Candidates are asked to introduce themselves. But the room erupted. all the reporters couldn't wait. they all jumped towards the room where Alexander stood. questions flooded the room. The other alphas also got some attention, only Kael was left out as if no one even wanted to know his thoughts.
Then I saw dad stepping up on the stage, "please stay calm, everyone."
Dad continued as he got everyone's attention immediately, "We will ask the candidates to step up for questionnaires. Alphas, if you please."
Soon two girls pulled up some chairs on the stage and the five contenders took their seats.
Reporters, hungry for the next big story, surged forward like a tidal wave, their microphones and cameras aimed at the candidates. Alexander, standing tall and confident, was immediately swarmed. Questions flew at him from every direction, the reporters’ voices overlapping in a cacophony of curiosity.
“Alpha Alexander, when did you decide to stand for the election?” one reporter shouted, shoving his microphone closer.
Alexander smiled, his calm demeanor unshaken.
“A friend of mine pushed me to this route,” he replied, his voice steady and warm. I couldn’t help but feel a flicker of pride at his words. He was handling this perfectly.
“You also found your mate recently. Was it just coincidental?” another reporter asked, their tone probing.
Alexander chuckled lightly, his eyes flicking toward Madeline, who stood nearby, her cheeks flushed with pride.
“It is a bit coincidental. It seems like the Goddess is in favor,” he said, his tone light but meaningful.
The questions kept coming, each one more pointed than the last. “Your mate is a beta female from the Moonvale pack. Does that mean you’ll have support from Alpha Daren?”
Alexander’s smile didn’t waver.
“That’s not my place to answer, but Alpha Daren and I are on good terms,” he replied diplomatically.
I glanced over at Alpha Daren, who stood nearby with Alpha Asher. Both men looked proud, their expressions filled with quiet satisfaction.
“He’s doing well,” Alpha Daren murmured, his voice low but approving.
“Better than I expected,” Alpha Asher agreed, his chest puffing out with fatherly pride.
"Come on, Asher. You need to give him more credits," alpha Daren teased and Alpha Asher chuckled.
I smiled inwardly. This was going better than I had hoped. The reporters continued to fire questions at the other alphas, though their attention was clearly divided. Sebastian Bash, Dominic Salvador, and Henry Lockwood each took their turns answering, but their responses lacked the charisma and confidence that Alexander exuded. And then there was Kael.
Kael sat stiffly in his chair, his jaw clenched as he watched the reporters ignore him entirely. It was almost painful to watch. The man who had once been the golden child, the favored son, always on stoplight, was now an afterthought. The reporters barely glanced his way, their focus firmly on Alexander and the others.
There were a few more questions to the other alphas as well but still nothing for Kael.
"You will have a surprise tonight," Suddenly Elara whispered over my ears.
"What surprise?" I asked.
"It’s coming in three... two... one... and," Elara paused.
But then, just as the tension in the room began to shift, a voice cut through the noise.
“A question for Kael Reventhorn,” a reporter called out, their tone sharp and unrelenting. The room fell silent, all eyes turning to Kael.
Kael straightened in his chair, his expression carefully neutral.
“Yes?” he said, his voice tight.
“All the candidates here have mates and are with their Lunas. Only you remain unmated, despite finding your soulmate— a rare incident. When are you planning to announce her as your Luna?”
Kael’s smile was strained, his fingers gripping the edge of his chair.
“As I’ve mentioned publicly already, I am not associated with her anymore,” he said, his tone clipped.
“Does that mean you’ve rejected her?” the reporter pressed.
“Yes,” Kael confirmed, his voice firm but his eyes betraying a flicker of unease.
The questions came faster now, each one more cutting than the last, “A soulmate is a blessing from the Goddess. Even your ex-fiancée stepped down because of her. Why would you throw away a blessing? What is your motive?”
“Did you reject her because she was an omega?”
“There was some news that she took shelter at the Silver Moon pack. Is that true, Alexander?”
"Why would she ask for asylum? Did you torture her?"
Kael froze, his composure slipping as the reporters turned their attention to Alexander. Alexander, ever the diplomat, stepped in smoothly. “She did sneak into the pack somehow. The border guards let her in, as we couldn’t let someone starve to death by our pack border, especially when we knew she was the soulmate of one of the future Alpha King contenders. Hence, we let her stay in the pack for the night of the event. She left the following morning, and we don’t know her whereabouts.”
The reporters turned back to Kael, their questions relentless. “Where is your mate right now, Kael? Is it possible she’s back at the castle?”
“As I said, I have no relationship with her anymore,” Kael replied, his voice rising slightly.
“We heard from a source that she was spotted in the castle this morning. We have photos and video as evidence.”
Kael’s composure cracked.
“Are you spying on me?” he snapped, his voice sharp.
“Does that mean you lied before?”
“Is she still your mate?”
“Why didn’t she accompany you tonight?”
“Could it be possible that the incident between you and that omega caused a problem between your mate and you?”
“What do you have to say about the omega incident? You were found in quite a compromising position.”
“I was set up,” Kael argued, his voice rising as he struggled to maintain his calm.
