His Abandoned Luna Chapter 95
|| Lilac’s POV ||
The questions kept coming, each one more damning than the last. Kael’s face grew red, his hands clenched into fists. He was losing control, and it was clear to everyone in the room.
“I think we’ve had enough questions for the day,” Alexander said, standing up and cutting through the tension. “Let’s enjoy the party.”
The reporters reluctantly backed off, their attention shifting as the candidates stepped down from the stage. I turned to Elara, who was grinning like the cat that got the cream.
“Like it?” she asked, her voice low and smug.
“You did this?” I asked, my eyes wide with amazement.
“Planted a few questions here and there,” Elara said with a shrug. “How dare he bully you at the Eclipse Ball? This was the payback.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“No one can bully my best friend,” Elara said, pulling me into a side hug.
Alexander walked over to us, his arm around Madeline’s waist.
“You did great,” Madeline said, her eyes shining with pride.
“Thanks, love,” Alexander replied, leaning down to peck her lips softly.
“Can I get a picture here?” Elara asked, her tone playful. “The future Alpha King with his Luna will make the headlines.”
“Sure,” Madeline laughed, kissing Alexander again as Elara snapped a photo.
"Unless Kael shows his naked ass again," Astrid chimed in and we all laughed.
The party finally began in earnest, the tension of the press conference giving way to music and laughter. The Alpha King took his Luna to the dance floor, and soon, many couples followed. I saw Mom and Dad among them, their love evident in the way they moved together. It was a beautiful sight, one that filled me with warmth.
“May I, my Luna?” a familiar voice said, pulling me from my thoughts.
I turned to see Alaric standing there, his hand extended toward me. His grey eyes were soft, his smile warm and inviting. My heart fluttered as I placed my hand in his.
“Of course,” I said, smiling as he led me to the dance floor. The music swelled around us, and for a moment, the world faded away. It was just him and me, moving together in perfect harmony.
|| Alaric’s POV ||
I stood outside the grand hall, the crisp night air doing little to cool the fire burning in my chest. The invitation in my hand felt heavier than it should, the weight of what it represented pressing down on me. Tonight was the night. The Alpha King had called for the nomination declaration, and I knew what that meant. Kael’s reign of incompetence and arrogance was either to rise or to fall. My father, for all his flaws, wasn’t blind. He could see the cracks in Kael’s facade, the way his reputation was crumbling under the weight of his own mistakes. If Kael kept this up, he wouldn’t just lose the election— he’d be disqualified entirely.
The thought brought a grim satisfaction. Kael had crossed too many lines. He’d plotted against Lilac, tried to drug her, humiliate her. Even though she hadn’t drunk the wine, she’d still been a victim of his schemes. Her wolf was weak, vulnerable, and hence even the smallest amount of the drug was enough to make her vulnerable. Thank Goddess she was in her senses till she returned home.
The rage that simmered in my chest flared at the memory. Enough was enough. Tonight, I would make sure everyone knew that Lilac wasn’t alone. She was mine, and I would make sure no one dared to mess with her again.
I tucked the invitation into my pocket and stepped into the hall. The grandeur of the event was almost overwhelming. Crystal chandeliers cast a soft glow over the room, their light reflecting off the polished marble floors. The air was thick with the scent of expensive perfumes and the faint hum of conversation. My father had spared no expense, as always. Every detail was perfect, from the elaborate floral arrangements to the orchestra playing softly in the corner. It was a display of power, a reminder of the Reventhorn legacy.
But I wasn’t here for the spectacle. My eyes scanned the room, searching for familiar faces. Cassandra was easy to spot, her golden hair catching the light as she chatted with a group of lunas. She was cunning, always working behind the scenes to secure votes for Kael. I wondered how she would react when she saw Alexander’s name on the list.
A small smile tugged at my lips. I’d pulled some strings to ensure Alexander’s name was omitted from the initial list. I wanted my father to see it for the first time tonight, to feel the shock of it. Let him scramble to come up with a plan to remove Alexander. Let him see that his golden child wasn’t as untouchable as he thought.
My gaze shifted, searching for Lilac. Her parents were there, her friends too, but she was nowhere to be seen. I pulled out my phone, ready to call her, but before I could dial, the doors to the hall swung open, and she stepped inside.
The room seemed to hold its breath as she walked in. She was breathtaking, her presence commanding attention without even trying. The off-shoulder blue gown she wore shimmered like the night sky, the fabric hugging her curves in all the right places. Her hair cascaded down her back in soft waves, and her eyes sparkled with a confidence that made my chest tighten. She looked like a queen, regal and untouchable.
