|| Lilac’s POV ||

The drive to the Blood Moon Pack was tense, the silence in the car thick with unspoken words. Marcus sat in the driver's seat, his hands gripping the wheel tightly, his expression unreadable. I stared out the window, my mind a whirlwind of emotions. The closer we got, the heavier the weight in my chest became. I furrowed my brow as Marcus drove past Alaric's house, the familiar structure fading into the distance.

"He doesn't live there anymore," Marcus said, his voice quiet but carrying an edge of sadness.

"Did he move to the packhouse, then?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"No," Marcus replied, his tone grim. "He moved to his office."

The words sent a chill down my spine. Alaric, the man who had once been so full of life and strength, was now living in his office, drowning in work and whatever demons haunted him. My heart ached at the thought, guilt gnawing at me like a relentless beast.

When we arrived at the packhouse, I felt the weight of curious gazes on me. The pack members stared, their eyes filled with questions and judgment. I ignored them, my focus solely on Marcus as he led me through the halls. The closer we got to Alaric's office, the louder the noises became-yelling, growling, the shattering of glass. My heart raced, each sound a dagger to my chest.

"He's been like this... since," Marcus said, his voice heavy with regret.

He opened the door slowly, and the sight that greeted me was devastating. The room was a mess-papers scattered everywhere, the table broken in half, and food splattered across the carpet. And there he was. Alaric. His hair was tangled, his face unshaven, dark circles under his eyes. Pain radiated from him, a tangible force that made my chest tighten.

Realization hit me like a tidal wave. I did this to him. It was all my fault. The guilt was suffocating, crushing me under its weight.

Marcus and Elizabeth left quietly, closing the door behind them. I stood there, frozen, my eyes locked on Alaric. His gaze met mine, and for a moment, the world blurred. I couldn't hold back. I wasn't ready to pull away. I needed more. More of him. All of him.

Our lips crashed together in a desperate kiss, my hands tangling in his hair as I tried to convey everything I couldn't put into words. His hands slid down my dress, his touch igniting a fire that burned through me. My tongue explored his mouth, savoring the taste of him, the familiarity of his scent, the warmth of his touch.

He picked me up, placing me on the half-broken desk, my legs curling around his torso and my arms around his neck. He left my mouth, trailing kisses along my neckline, each touch sending shivers down my spine.

"Yes," I whispered, my voice trembling. This was what I wanted-this sensation, this connection, this moment. I could leave everything for him.

He licked along my neckline, and a moan escaped my lips. "Alaric!" I whispered, my voice filled with need.

"Still wet for me, Dove?" he chuckled, a glimpse of pride in his eyes.

"Only for you," I replied, my voice breaking as I tried to move even closer to him.

His hardness pressed against me, and I shivered, my body responding to his touch.

His hand traveled under my dress, inside my panties, his fingers finding my clit. His thumb massaged me, sending jolts of pleasure through my core. I felt the same butterflies that had alway drawn me to this man.

His teeth worked on the nape of my neck as he continued to send waves of pleasure through me, but it wasn't enough. I wanted him. I needed him.

"Alaric!" I moaned, my voice desperate.

He understood instantly. His hand left my core, and he unbuckled his belt, removing his pants. I saw his hardness, and I was ready for him. He grabbed my ass, positioning me, his dick touching my entrance. Sparks exploded on my skin as he slowly pushed inside, his movements deliberato and careful. Then he picked up the pace, thrusting deeper as I adjusted to his length.

I arched my back, pleasure building in my core. Slowly, I felt the vibrations, the tension coiling tighter and tighter until it finally snapped. He filled me up, and in that moment, I felt like I had found the essence of my life again. Alaric.

I collapsed in his arms as he carried me to the chesterfield, his lips brushing against my temple. "I've missed you. So much," he whispered, his voice broken.

"Me too," I replied, my voice trembling.

I sat back slowly, looking into his eyes. Realization hit me like a punch to the gut. I had a soulmate, and yet I had just slept with another man. What have I done?

"This was wrong... I cheated on my mate," I said, my voice filled with guilt. Goddess! If Runa were here, I wondered how she would have felt!

"Why is it so hard, Alaric?" I asked, my voice breaking.

"I don't care, Dove. You are mine," he said, his voice firm and possessive.

"Alaric..." I gasped, my chest tightening.

"I'll take the responsibility. I'll deal with the consequences," he said, his tone resolute.

"It's not that simple," I replied, my voice barely audible.

"You are mine. I can't let you go back to him, again," he said, his voice filled with possessiveness.

"He's my soulmate," I whispered, my voice trembling.

"And I don't give a damn," Alaric replied, his voice firm. "I can't live without you, Dove."

"Look at you," he continued, his voice softening. "Look how hollow you look. You've lost weight, your eyes are sad. You have your soulmate, yet you're here, with me."

"What should I do?" I asked, hiding my face behind my palms.

"Reject him," he said, his voice final. I froze! Do what Kael did to me? Cause him the pain? And what about Runa?

"But my wolf... she's barely there. She won't survive," I replied, my voice breaking.

Alaric sighed, pulling me closer until I was almost on his lap. He hugged me tightly, his arms a protective shield around me.

"Give me some time. I'll find a way," he whispered, his voice filled with determination.
