Shadow’s POV:

“So, is it true? Are you having three pups?” Is the Doc telling the truth?” I asked. Staring at Shawna, she hasn’t looked at me the entire time we have been here. I know she is hurting. I just want to explain why I’m trying to bring Shaid back. I wanted to kill the dragon for touching her. If the alpha hadn’t commanded me to stop, Rane would have ripped his throat out for touching what’s mine. But now that we just found out that she is having three pups everything has changed. She is at a greater risk of being hurt. “Shawna? Is what the Doc is saying true? Are you having triplets?” I asked, coming to now stand in front of her. Her family immediately came to stand guard to protect her. But I would never do anything to hurt her. She finally sighed and looked up at me and what I saw in her blue eyes was pain. Pain that I had caused her. “Yes, shadow the Doc just gave us the news earlier tonight before we got here.” She said, like it meant nothing. “When were you going to tell me? I have a right to know what is going on with our pups.” I said a little harshly. Her eyes widened in shock. Before her anger took over.

“Please, by all means Shadow, please, tell me when did I have the chance to tell you about it? Huh? when? When you were asking the Doc about how you can save your wife, mind you, the same wife who tried to unalive me and our babies, you claim you have the right to know about? Oh wait, how about when you then went to Makahi and begged him to try and save your wife? was that a good time to tell you about the babies you claimed you had a right to know about? Huh? I really would like to know when I could have told you anything about our babies. You sent the Doc to our house, but not once did you even try to find out about me or them. Your top priority is your wife and getting her back, saving her, and making sure she is good. So why the hell would it even bother you now? Because you wouldn’t have even cared anyway. Oh wait, you probably would care if it were your wife who was having them instead of me.

Because your mind is consumed with your wife and saving her and making sure she is safe, then it is on me, our pups.” She said as she came to stand in my face, looking up at me with all the anger and pain displayed on her face. How could she think that I didn’t care about her or our pups? She is all I think about. I only asked about Shaid because I feel guilty about how her life has turned out. If she would just talk to me, I could explain everything. But we can never find time alone to talk. But regardless of this new information, there is no way she can come on this mission with us, it is entirely too dangerous for her and the babies. Turning to the alpha. “Alpha, we need to make another change with this new information. There is no way that Shawna can go on this mission with us. It is too dangerous.” I spoke, leaving no room for arguing, but we all know what's about to happen next.

“OOOOHHHHH shit! He is about to die. Did he just turn around and tell that man that Shawna can’t go on this mission.” Mina whispered. “Hell yea. She about to take his head clean off his body. Back the fuck up girl, I’m not trying to catch none of that smoke.” Ji'lahni said, trying to take a step back. “Even I would be scared, and I have been training since birth.” I heard Ji'lahni Mina and Lynn say from behind Shawna. Shawna stood in front of me, cocked her head to the side. “What the fuck did you just say to him?” She asked me. I had to stand my ground. This wasn’t about me or her right now, this was about our babies. “You just heard what the doc said, you don’t need the added stress because the risk is higher now.” I said, confidently.

“Oh, now you want to think about stressing me the fuck out. You didn’t think you would stress me the fuck out when I found out you were walking around here begging every fucking body to try and save the bitch who put a knife in my fucking ribs and almost killed me and our kids. Then she turned around and tried to kidnap me to give to her damn master. While I was still in a fucking coma from a knife wound, she gave me. The bitch literally told you she wanted to drain me dry. And you thought it was a good idea to try and rescue her and bring her back here where me and your babies will be laying their head. You didn’t think about none of that shit when you thought I was having one baby, so why the fuck do you care about it now that I am having three? Because whether I go or not, if you have your way, she will be in the right position to take my ass out for good the next time. But as long as you think you can save her nobody else matters. You know what fuck you Shadow, don’t say shit else to me. I promise you if I don’t go on this mission to save my family from your wife and that, fucking which you will be sleeping with one fucking eye open because the other one will be missing. Now I got to fucking pee damnit!” Shawna yelled and she stormed out of the very silent room.

Everybody was trying to look like they weren’t looking and listening to that entire conversation. I glanced at her family, and they jumped. “Damnit, you know what? I forgot I put my stove on the roof. Let me go on ahead and put that back in our house. It looked like it was about to rain two weeks ago, so you know we don’t want that.” Ji’lahni said as she got up and raced out of the room after Shawna. “Damn I’m glad you had reminded me, I had put my bed up there to, and I sure don’t want that rain from two weeks ago to get on that.” Lynn said, getting up following Ji’lahni. Mina looked around and shrugged. “Shit, look, I’m following them so we can go in the bathroom with Shawna while we listen to how she is gonna kill you.” She said and raced out of the room. Then we hear “Ouch! I told yall. Yall was gonna stop hitting me.” “If we made up an excuse why the hell would you say that?” “Shit I couldn’t think of anything and yall know damn well nobody believed the shit yall said.” They finished as they walked away from the door. “Well, Wolfe that was better than a reality show. I was on the edge of my damn seat the whole time.” Lynn’s sister said.

Her shifter gave her a look and she shrugged. “What? It was.” She defended herself. “Son, I won’t claim to know how it is to find out that the mate you thought was dead is somehow alive and you still feel the mates' bond. But I can tell you this, time changes people and when we are dealing with an evil like this there is almost no chance that you will be able to help your mate. She may already be gone and only the body is left. So, I will say this. Don’t let your past destroy your future, because once the past is finished destroying what you have built, you will never have the chance to rebuild with the same materials you allowed your past to tear down. I would make sure you choose wisely. Your life may literally depend on it.” Lynn’s grandmother said as she pointed her cane in the direction of where the girls left off. “Shadow, I know you are trying to do what is best for your pups, but I don’t think she will let anyone stop her from helping anyway she can, how about we put one of the warriors with her as added protecting. We will make sure she is protected at all times and as far away from danger as we can.” The alpha said, as he came up beside me with the offered solution. I nodded at his plan.

I know telling Shawna she isn’t going is a battle I won’t win. “But I will be the one protecting her, not anyone else. She is my responsibility and my first and top priority no matter what she believes.” I responded to the alpha. “Then what will you do about finding your mate?” He asked. “Once I know Shawna is at the safe zone at the rift, I will go in and search for Shaid. But I had to protect Shawna no matter what. I don’t want anything to happen to her or my three…” “Boys! You are having three identical boys.” The Doc chimed in. “Wow, congratulations Shadow, you are going to be a father of three strong boys.” The alpha said, smacking me on my back. The rest of the warriors also came and congratulated me, and I responded thanks, not saying much else because I was in utter shock that I was going to have three sons that I will make damn sure enter this world safely. Nobody would lay a hand on Shawna or my pups.
