Shadow’s POV:

I knew the minute the girls saw Scarlett that all hell would break loose. “Wait I get it, I was knocked out and this is just some sort of fucked up dream, and I bet time I pull this gun to kill these motha fuckas, I’m gonna wake up. But I'm still going to pull the trigger, because real or not it will be a happy ending to this nightmare.” Mina said pulling Lynn’s gun from her waist which put everyone on high alert moving to stand up to react if needed. “Now wait a minute, just put the damn guns down and let's find out what happened. She may have vital information we may need.” Makahi said standing in front of them protecting my mate who stabbed Shawna. “Would you look at that I still can’t seem to find a fuck to give.” Ji’lahni said patting her pockets.

“You real life think we give a fuck about any of that shit. It’s easy for us, you know why, because we are not stupid. She kidnapped our babies and then stabbed Shawna who risked her life to save our babies. I don't even know why any of that has to be explained. If you wanted answers, you should have stopped Montego before he ripped the head off the wolf who had the babies, hell he was more innocent than this bitch.” Lynn said angrily. “So why are you still standing there? You have a real bad habit of protecting bitches who want to hurt me and my family and I’m about sick of that shit.” Ji’lahni said stepping up to the alpha’s face. “Ji’lahni I’m going to let that slide because we are all running on emotion. You know that I would never let anyone hurt you if I can help it, I chose you so remember that.” The alpha said trying to comfort her.

“No! Makahi, look I may have gone too far, but this is not up for debate. You have until the doc comes back with an update about Shawna so yall can ask as many questions as yall want to, and that’s only because whatever the hell is going on my babies are the reason. After that yall will have a choice to make because our minds are already made up.” Ji’lahni said as the girls nodded in agreement. Shaid whimpered at the threat. I placed Shaid behind me on the bed and stepped around the men. Looking at the girls. “It is all my fault that my Shawna is fighting for her life not Scar, I mean Shaid. She was just so afraid and thought she was going to die so she reacted.” I said, hoping they understood. which seem to only make things worse. Because they started laughing. “Cousins I know this dude is not trying to defend this bitch right now. Did he just say the same chick that was fighting like a ninja was afraid? The same wolf who flipped through the air and kicked me and Lahni at the same damn time. I know he not that stupid to believe she was afraid of us regular ass humans to a trained assassin. Never mind, let me ask him that so we could all be clear.” Mina said stepping close to me and Shaid whimpered again. “Look I know how it sounds but please just let me explain. She doesn’t remember anything from our past. She woke up in a pack clinic and somehow Zane must have found out and brainwashed her which is why she did all this. If you knew my mate you would know she would have never done anything like this.” I said pleadingly.

“Let me get this straight your girl excuse me your mate who was dead but didn’t die lost her memory and Zane somehow brainwashed her and used her to kidnap our girls then when my cousin tried to stop her from killing not only us but your ass too, and fought that nut job for I don’t know how long, thinking the only family she had was dead and wanted to make sure our babies didn’t end up the way we did while we were held captive, only to have the man she thought loved her more than anything and anyone in this life allow his dead zombie back from the dead mate to drive a knife in her ribs and now that same man is defending and protecting the female who was literally trying to kill and would have if our babies weren’t using their aura to slow her down and only became this whimpering hot mess when she saw you. Shadow you got played and now Shawna may die because of you and that bitch.” Lynn said as tears fell from her eyes. she still held her gun tightly staring at me and then at Montego who was looking at her pleadingly.

“Lynn baby we just want to find out everything she knows and then we will figure it out afterwards. We just need to focus on Shawna right now.” Montego said. “I’m so sick and tired of all this shit I need you to understand that as soon as you question her, she will pay for what she did and if the worse happens to Shawna or our other baby because of that bitch you can die right along with that bitch if you want to. Ji’lahni said through clenched teeth. Hearing her words rocked me to my core. Was that what she meant when she said…Rane howled in agony was she pregnant with our pup. I felt dazed and lightheaded. I must have lost my balance because the alpha grabbed my arm to steady me. “She…. she. Is Shawna having my pup? I asked with a lump in my throat. I saw a flash of pity when Ji’lahni realized that I didn’t know.

“Yes, she said she had just found out right before. Well, you know the rest. Your mate over there tried to take our babies. So, she really didn’t have time to enjoy the moment because when you found your dead zombie mate over there, yall must have wanted to get her out of the way, just so you and her can run off into the sunset and live happily ever after.” Ji’lahni said before she turned and left out of the room leaving me gutted. “That’s not what happened I would never hurt Shaw.” I said shaking with anger. “Well, I guess your mate knew that and did it for you huh? Shadow killer.” Mina said as she followed the girls out of the door.

“Hey, Shadow, they didn’t mean it they’re just scared, and emotions are running high. Once they find out Shawna will be ok, they will be more levelheaded.” The Alpha said patting me on the back. “No, they won’t because I wouldn’t if I were in their shoes. They were right, I was distracted and all I could think about was stopping Shaw from hurting Scarlett that she somehow ended up the one being hurt and, and she’s, she’s pregnant. I was gonna have a pup. Oh, goddess what have I done. I killed my Shaw and my pup.” “Stop it! You don’t know that. You have to think positive. We have to figure out what your mate knows.” The alpha said, grabbing my shoulders. He was right, I just needed to wait and see what the Doc said. He is the best he will do everything he can to save Shawna and my pup. I don’t know what I would do if they didn’t make it.

“Shadow?” The alpha said getting my attention. “You said Scarlett doesn’t remember anything from her past life before the war?” The alpha asked turning to look at my mate she was balled up in the corner somehow, she had gotten off the bed during all the commotion I’m sure she’s frightened and hungry. But I can’t do anything now. “No, she doesn’t even remember me she said she knows I’m her mate, but she doesn’t remember me before today. She said her name is Shaid because when they found her, she was mumbling it while she was in and out of consciousness. She figured she must have been trying to say my name.” I said staring at her she looked up at me when is said her name. “Shadow, see if you can get her in the shower and changed out of those bloody dirty clothes and have someone bring her a sandwich and something to drink. After that we will start the questioning process hopefully by that time, we will have some information about Shawna. I’m going to check on the girls and my pups. Once we question your mate, I hope we find out who poisoned us and find out who all is behind this.” The alpha said, and I nodded before everyone filed out of the room leaving me and my mate alone.

When I turned back toward her, she was already out of the corner and sitting on the bed I went to sit next to her. She came closer to me and curled her small body against mine and Rane purred at the feeling of our mate. We are still in shock, so much has happened. My mate is alive. But Shawna is fighting for her life and the life of our pup all because of me. Thinking of Shawna Rane let out a low sorrowful purr as guilt washed over the both of us. Looking at Scarlett. “How about you take a shower and get cleaned up, someone is bringing you clothes and something to eat. The alpha has some questions that he wants you to answer.” I said to her, she visibly started to shake, and tears began to fall.

“No please, please don’t let them hurt me. No please, please let’s just leave here and start over.” She said frantically I could see the desperation and fear in her eyes. “Hey no one is going to hurt you. We just need to find out who all is behind this and everything that you can remember from the time you woke up in the pack clinic up until now.” I said trying to reassure her, but she didn’t look convinced at all. “I heard them say the girl I stabbed is pregnant is that why you don’t want to leave with me is she your chosen mate are you going to reject me?” She asked crying now.

I really didn’t know how to answer that question although I felt the mate bond something was off, I couldn’t put my finger on it. But my feelings for Shawna are still there, just as strong as they were before my mate came back in the picture. “Yes, she’s pregnant and it is the reason I’m not leaving with you she is someone I care deeply about but I’m not going to reject you. We just have to figure out who’s behind this. Before we can do anything” I said hoping that she didn’t ask any more questions.
