Makahi’s POV: continued

“She doesn’t need the stress right now and she doesn’t want a lot of people crowding around.” Mina said just as we hear Ji’lahni groaned and cry out in pain. Her cousins immediately turned their attention from me and Summer and rallied around her in a way to block her from having to see Summer who was still clinging to me. "Makahi do you mind filling me in on what the hell is going on how did Summer get here? And why is she saying she’s your Luna and claiming you have a pup?” Montego mind linked. “It’s a long story.” I said with a sigh. “While we got hours before we are back at the pack house.” He responded. Taking another look in the direction of where Ji’lahni is, only to see her cousins still protecting her from me. Maka was howling out in sadness because he nor I could no longer reach our pups we could still feel them, but it wasn’t a strong connection. I sighed then told Montego everything that happened once I entered Zane’s house. Even how the pups used their alpha abilities to throw Zane across the room when he had Ji’lahni pinned against the wall by the throat. Which made me think Ji’lahni has been through this hell for weeks longer then her cousins while carrying not one but two alpha pups in the process and she still fought for her survival and our pups and still manage to come out it without cowering and showing she still had fight in her. While Summer is acting like she’s about to fall apart and now she’s my Luna and yet I don’t feel complete or even happy at that thought I’m still hoping I can find a way I could reverse it without causing Summer pain, death, or even becoming a rogue if I reject her so I need to find another way I just hope I can convince Ji’lahni to be patient while I figure all this out. Lost in thought I didn’t hear Montego speak. Mind linking me.

“Say again.” “I said that’s some real crazy shit you’ve gotten yourself into. But how do you even know that’s your pup that Summer is carrying?” “I don’t but what she told me I do remember parts of that day I got drunk that night. Although we can’t get drunk off human liquor the doc created an elixir that allows the liquor to affect us for a few hours. That night I didn’t give the liquor time to leave my system I just wanted not to think about what was happening to Ji’lahni. So, I couldn’t be certain and honestly, I don’t know if I would have been able to live with myself knowing that a pup was killed because of me. I had no choice but to mark her.” I said in defeat. “As your Beta I will always have your back. This entire fucked up situation will affect the both of us unfortunately, because just as I have your back my mate will always have Ji’lahni’s back. I can’t explain why you’re still having any feelings for Ji’lahni when you’ve marked another as your mate the bond between you and Ji’lahni should have broken completely because even if she’s your other half you still needed to mark her to complete the mating. Maybe when Summer marks you it will break the bond completely.” He said thoughtfully.

“NO!” I yell into the mind link. “Sorry I’m going to hold off as long as I can to see if there is any way I can undo this without hurting Summer or the pup she’s carrying.” I said determined. “We have never heard anything about breaking a mating that didn’t hurt, kill, or turn the wolf into a rogue. Shadow’s mate died and he barely held on to his sanity. I just don’t know if it’s possible. Even after you marked Summer, you’re still saying her pup and not your pup but once you found out Ji’lahni was pregnant you immediately claimed them as yours. Something is definitely off about this whole thing I just hope we can solve it without losing our women I don’t know if I’ll survive losing Lynn, we haven’t had a chance to talk much, be she feels the mating pull.” Montego mind linked looking at Lynn and just like she felt him stare she turned to look at him with affection in her eyes but glanced in my direction it went from affection to cold hard hatred.

10 hours later 12 hours labor…..

Back at Crystal Moon pack.

We made back to our pack land safely without any more death threats so that is a plus. Doc rushed Ji’lahni to the clinic to do a complete and thorough check on Ji’lahni and our pups and get her comfortable we don’t know how long labor will last because humans can have long labors and so can she wolves it can last a couple of days for a she-wolf. Mom said she was in labor for more than two days, but dad says it wasn’t quite two days I guess to her it felt like it. Mentioning my parents, I have to eventually tell them about what happened. I told everyone to not mention anything until I talk to them. So, I headed straight to them once I had Summer settled at the pack House which she insisted that she couldn’t be alone, and she should move in officially since she’s the Luna now.

Standing at my parents' door I take a deep breathe I’m exhausted I haven’t slept in days, and it probably will be a few more days of little to no sleep. Putting my hand on the knob when it was suddenly snatched out of my hands by my mother jumping into my arms crying and kissing me like I’m a pup. I returned her hug because I know once I tell her everything, she may not speak to me for a while. “Oh my God! I’m so glad you’re home safe and sound. Did you find Ji’lahni is she and my grand pups OK?” My mom asked practically shoving me out of the way. “Mom they’re not with me and yes, we found Ji’lahni she’s at the clinic she went into labor while we were rescuing her. The Doc is getting her settled in she may have a while yet before the pups get here.” “WHAT! She’s in labor and you're standing here running your mouth move outta my way boy. Why didn’t you mind link us before you landed? We would have been already there.” My mom yelled pushing me out of the way, I stumbled back a little before I righted myself and grabbed her by the arm.

"Mom, I didn’t mind link you or dad because I wanted to speak to you and tell you what happened while we were rescuing Ji’lahni.” I said guiding her and my dad back into the house they didn’t put up a fight because they know it had to be important if I didn’t tell them ahead of time that we were back. With a look of worry on their faces. “Son what’s going on is did something happen to the pups or the girls are they OK?” My father asked with a look of worry on his face although he didn’t express it openly like my mother did, I could still tell he cared for the girls like they were his daughters. “No, all the girls are OK. But I need to talk to you about Summer.” I said hesitantly. “Son my grand babies are about to be born and you’re holding me up to talk about that slut of a she-wolf who put my babies in danger to begin with. If she’s dead, then she’s lucky because I would rip her throat out." My mother said getting up about to walk out.

“Mom she isn’t dead, and you can’t kill her because that would mean possibly killing me.” I said as fast as I could get them out, my mom stopped dead in her tracks turning to face me again. “What did you just say.?” She asked me breathless gasping holding her chest.” Dropping my head down I told them everything, not leaving anything out especially not the part where I wanted to try and find a way to safely break the bond. “How could you do that to your other half and your pups' son. You have no idea if Summer is even carrying your pup be you’re absolutely sure Ji’lahni and the pups belong to you how could you just abandon them so easily.” My mother said in disappointment.

“YOU THINK THIS WAS EASY FOR ME! I COULDN’T LET SUMMER DIE EVEN IF IT WAS A TINY CHANCE THE PUP IS MINE. This is killing me mom I still care about her even after marking Summer. I don’t know what to do.” I said dropping my head in my hands barely keeping it together. I feel my mom’s arms wrap around me and I broke down and cried for the first time. I let out all the worry and emotions. I have been holding in everything sense Ji’lahni first went missing. “Son I’m so sorry this is happening to you. But I’ve never heard of someone breaking a bond without causing severe pain, but I’ll call your aunts and uncle to see what they can find out. But for right now let’s just help make sure Ji’lahni and the pups come out of this healthy.” My mom said as she let me go and stood. “I don’t think her neither her family will want me around.” I said sadly.

“Nonsense they may hurt you or want to beat your ass but would never keep your pups away from you. Now let’s get the clinic I don’t want to miss a thing about my pup's birth.” My mom said as she made her way out the door. I might as well get this over with. I said getting up following my parents out the door. I feel like all hell is about broke loose.
