Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 170

In the tea room.

The moment they stepped through the adjoining door, Graham pressed himself against Adeline from behind.

"Are you insane? We're in the Howard Manor!" Adeline's body stiffened as she pushed him away.

Graham stumbled back only a step before immediately closing the distance again. "If you don't tell, who's going to know?"

His shameless persistence resembled that of a dog, desperate and undeterred.

Annoyance flickered in Adeline's eyes as she pressed her hand against his face. "Enough! If anyone discovers we're still involved, your entire plan will fall apart!"

Her tone was stern, but she was still thinking of his interests—a detail that left Graham momentarily without a counterargument.

"Yes, our Addie is always the smartest," he conceded with a smile. "By the way, Mr. Williams has been extremely pleased with you lately—even mentioned giving you that estate."

Adeline arched an eyebrow, looking rather pleased with herself. "As he should."

But the smugness in her eyes quickly gave way to something darker as she leaned toward Graham's ear. "Did you know? Scarlett is pregnant."

Graham's expression darkened. "Pregnant? Who's the father? Sebastian?" His voice dropped low, suddenly finding the need for discretion.

"Yes," Adeline matched his caution. "Just think, if this child is born..."

"Anyone else can have children, but not Sebastian," he cut her off.

What a joke. He was already struggling to compete with Sebastian for the inheritance—if a great-grandchild entered the picture, he'd likely be shipped overseas without a second thought.

One way or another, Scarlett's baby would be better off as nothing more than spilled blood.

Understanding Graham's thoughts perfectly, Adeline played her next card. "Coincidentally, Scarlett doesn't want to keep it either. Though Sebastian seems quite keen on her having it."

She smiled, arching her back as she moved closer.

Graham's hand immediately found its way to the small of her back. He particularly loved Adeline when she was like this. "Don't worry. I'll help her."

Meanwhile, Sebastian visited George, who lay in bed with a respirator covering his nose and mouth.

"That little bastard is getting impatient," George said, his speech noticeably slow.

Sebastian sat by the bedside, fidgeting with his watch. "It'll be hard on you for a while, Grandfather."

George studied him carefully. "You really intend to pursue that Morgan girl?"

When Sebastian remained silent, George pushed himself up, his gaze intensifying. "Let me tell you, that girl is no good. Your second uncle's incident—she was involved. You've been investigating for years; don't pretend you don't know."

His voice grew more urgent. "If you ask me, she and that Graham are cut from the same cloth! If you continue entangling yourself with her, you'll be the death of me!"

"I know what I'm doing, Grandfather. Don't worry," Sebastian replied, eyes downcast as he continued fiddling with his watch.

George's concerns eased somewhat. "Fine, as long as you understand."

He slowly lay back down and waved his hand dismissively. "Do what you must, I won't interfere. But be careful with your personal affairs. Once this business is over, I'll arrange for you to meet some suitable young ladies..."

"No need to trouble yourself, Grandfather. I already have someone in mind," Sebastian stated evenly as he stood, as if sharing something entirely unremarkable.

This statement hit George with such impact that he was still processing it even after Sebastian had left the room. "Did you hear what he said?" he asked the guard, pointing toward the door.

When the guard nodded, George quickly raised his hand. "Go find out which family's daughter he's interested in."

Unable to find Scarlett at the Howard Manor, Michael waited downstairs for Sebastian after learning she had gone home.

While waiting, he spotted Graham and Adeline emerging from the tea room one after the other.

Graham didn't look particularly noteworthy, just somewhat more energetic than before.

Adeline, however, showed more obvious changes—flushed cheeks and slightly unsteady steps. Despite her attempts to conceal it, the blush on her face was unmistakable.

Michael was no naive young boy. Ten years ago, when these two were just teenagers, he was already experienced enough to immediately recognize what they had been up to.

They exchanged brief greetings as the pair approached.

"Mike, you still have time to spare, I see," Graham said with a grin. "Waiting for Bash?"

Michael nodded, making no effort to hide his close relationship with Sebastian.

After Adeline quickly took her leave, Graham lingered. He watched her get into the Howard Manor's car, then leaned slightly toward Michael.

"Mike, honestly, you'd be better off choosing me over Bash," he said in a lowered voice.

Michael casually brushed some dust from his lap. "No thanks. Why would a cripple like me get involved in your power struggles?"

Graham stood straight, looking down at him pointedly. "Is that so? What would you do if you discovered your esteemed friend is actually a monster wearing a human mask?"

"You mean Sebi?" Michael chuckled lightly. "I'd say he's more human than you—at least he doesn't kill his own father."

The direct accusation caused Graham's smile to falter momentarily before he recovered. "Your words are as cutting as ever."

"It depends on who I'm talking to," Michael replied flatly, his gaze unwavering.

Graham stormed off, fuming. After all these years, he'd forgotten that beneath Michael's seemingly gentle demeanor lay a ruthless core.

But of course—how could someone truly gentle ever become the heir to the Seymour family?

When Sebastian finally came downstairs, he found Michael waiting with a blanket covering his legs. Without looking up, Michael sensed Sebastian pushing his wheelchair.

"Those two are still in contact," he warned.

Sebastian seemed unconcerned. "I know."

"What? You have people watching them?" Michael asked, looking up in confusion.

Sebastian offered only a brief affirmation.

"Where do you get all these people?" Michael couldn't help asking as he maneuvered himself into the car.

While abroad, he had benefited from Sebastian's network of helpers. He was surprised to find the operation continued domestically on such a scale.

From what he knew, Graham had at least ten people monitoring him day and night. The numbers assigned to Adeline remained unclear but seemed substantial.

Recently, Sebastian had even assigned numerous personnel to Scarlett's detail.

Sebastian didn't answer directly, offering only a vague, "More people make things easier."

Later at MRK Building, Scarlett arrived for work as usual. Teddy visibly followed behind her, though several others shadowed her covertly.

Her expression remained neutral, having grown accustomed to such arrangements.

George had once questioned this security setup, but Sebastian had deflected using Michael as an excuse.

Since Michael hadn't objected either, the situation had continued unchanged.
