Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 198

Sebastian's questions made Benjamin's expression change instantly. His pale face combined with his disheveled appearance made him look particularly vulnerable.

"But... but that's her heritage... and all that money..."

Sebastian remained composed, merely raising an eyebrow as he listened. "Is that so? Yet she's lying in a hospital bed right now, and I think Mr. Cooper knows exactly why." By the end of his statement, Sebastian's expression had subtly darkened, his tone turning ice-cold.

"I..." Benjamin wanted to say something more, but reality left him speechless.

Seeing that Benjamin understood, Sebastian spoke again. "I understand your perspective, Mr. Cooper. However, please consider what consequences she would face if her identity were exposed." After saying this, he prepared to leave.

But Benjamin called after him, "What's her name?"

Sebastian looked back, considering for a moment. "Scarlett Seymour. She has her grandfather's surname."

Hearing this, Benjamin's expression flashed with momentary joy, but deeper anxiety quickly overshadowed it.

As the hospital room door opened, Sebastian ran into Shane, who had been eavesdropping.

"Ah, finished talking?" People do strange things when embarrassed—like Shane at that moment. He suddenly started flexing his ankle. "I wasn't eavesdropping. My foot just slipped."

As Shane's longtime friend, even though they hadn't seen each other in years, Sebastian could see right through him.

"He's not who we're looking for," Sebastian said as he walked out, with Benjamin following behind him.

Shane didn't contradict Sebastian's assessment.

"William!"

Just then, a blond foreign man ran out from the elevator area. When he spotted Benjamin, he immediately shouted and rushed toward the group.

Shane noticed the man was heading straight for them and immediately looked at Benjamin with narrowed, suspicious eyes. "Wasn't it Benjamin?"

His comment successfully made Benjamin's already pale face look even worse.

Sebastian heard this and let out a soft laugh, his gaze meaningful. "Perhaps he changed his name."

Benjamin avoided looking at him and slowly walked toward his friend. The newcomer's face was anxious. As soon as he reached Benjamin, he urgently asked, "How is it? That girl..."

Before he could finish, Benjamin immediately grabbed his wrist, his voice low and his expression troubled. "No, don't. It's not her. Let's go."

Benjamin's state was visibly off. The foreign man immediately frowned. His gaze lingered briefly on Sebastian and the others, forming a suspicion in his mind. He instinctively wanted to ask more, but Benjamin was already pulling him by the wrist toward the elevators.

"Hey, William..." His friend tried to say something more, his gaze lingering on the hospital room, though from this angle he couldn't see inside. He could only follow Benjamin's lead toward the stairwell.

This unusual exchange and atmosphere made Shane's expression immediately grow serious, his narrowed eyes filled with calculation.

"Stop thinking about it. You'd better stay out of this," Sebastian said without looking at him, knowing exactly what was going through Shane's mind.

Hearing this, Shane raised an eyebrow. "Tell me about it. If there's nothing to gain, I won't get involved."

This response was exactly what Sebastian expected. He paused on his way to the hospital room and turned back, his eyes thoughtful. Finally, his gaze sharpened as he looked at the bodyguards around them.

Shane immediately understood his meaning and proactively sent the bodyguards into Scarlett's room, then pushed open the door to the room where Benjamin had been. "Is this good enough?"

He walked in first, with Sebastian following closely behind. Inside the room, Sebastian sat in the same chair as before, watching the excited Shane while his mind raced. With Shane's wild nature, once told about this matter, he would definitely get involved. And if his manpower were combined with Uncle Marco's people, perhaps they could truly shield against those hidden threats.

This way, Scarlett's identity might be revealed sooner.

Sebastian's thoughts settled, and he began to speak. "This is about Wesley Seymour..."

Four minutes later, two distinguished Lumarian men emerged from the room one after another. The one in front was slightly taller with austere features—a rare specimen of male beauty. The one behind was also handsome, though perhaps due to his grave expression, he appeared slightly less impressive than the man ahead of him.

Sebastian entered the hospital room again. Nearly ten minutes had passed since the doctor's estimate, yet Scarlett still showed no signs of waking. The doctor was called in again.

The moment the doctor stepped into the room, the monitoring equipment suddenly emitted a sharp alarm. Sebastian, who had been sitting in the chair, immediately stood up. The cold aura surrounding him instantly solidified, becoming so heavy it was suffocating.

"What's happening?"

The doctor was startled too and quickly went to check. After a moment, she breathed a sigh of relief. "The medication is finished. It's nothing to worry about—the drug has been completely absorbed. She should wake up soon."

When Scarlett regained consciousness, she first heard an annoying buzzing sound. As her awareness gradually cleared, the muffled noise slowly transformed into voices. The person was speaking in a language Scarlett could understand.

However, having just awakened, she couldn't immediately make out what was being said, only that the voice sounded gentle—likely belonging to a kind-hearted woman.

When she opened her eyes, sure enough, the face leaning over her was indeed gentle.

"Thank goodness, you're finally awake!" The person seemed very happy to see her awake, but what she said next confused Scarlett. "Your husband has been so worried about you!"

Husband? Scarlett thought she might have misunderstood due to her groggy state, but following the person's gaze, she quickly saw the man sitting beside her bed.

Sebastian... His name immediately surfaced in her mind.

Scarlett's eyes widened slightly, and her foggy brain instantly cleared. She blinked but said nothing. Sebastian had already moved closer, positioning himself at her eye level beside the bed. "How are you feeling?"

She clearly remembered how she had ended up in the hospital, and the fear she had felt reached its peak the moment she saw Sebastian. Scarlett didn't answer his question, just sniffled. In the next moment, Sebastian reached out to wipe away her tears. "Don't cry. I was late getting here."

He lifted her into his arms, holding her close. The feeling was surreal, like being in a dream. Scarlett tilted her head up, looking at Sebastian who was so close, and said in a raspy voice, "Why do you keep haunting me?"
