Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 184
Vinterra, a border city of Seraphim.
Chris and his group had planned to leave this morning, but the people who went out shopping soon spotted several Lumarian faces near the hotel.
Vinterra was a Seraphim city adjacent to Montelisse in Vesperia.
This wasn't a popular tourist destination. Although it was called "the Western Gateway of Seraphim," it was rarely chosen by travelers.
Moreover, those Lumarians looked serious, craning their necks and looking around. Whether in their expressions or body language, they showed none of the leisure of tourists.
The shopping team member's heart jumped, and they immediately returned to the hotel.
After hearing the news, both Chris and Scarlett became somewhat nervous.
Scarlett immediately put down her handbag, walked to the window, and looked out through the semi-transparent cream-colored curtains.
Sure enough, there were several more Lumarian faces scattered around downstairs.
Even though she didn't recognize these people, the aura they gave off still reminded Scarlett of Sebastian.
She quickly pulled back behind the curtain and locked eyes with Chris, her face tense with worry.
"What do we do now?"
Not clear about the specific procedures, she panicked a bit and instinctively asked Chris, who was in charge of the whole process.
Chris's expression was serious. He was also standing by the window at that moment. After seeing the people moving around downstairs, he only pondered briefly before taking out his phone. "We can't expose our location."
"Can we leave?" Scarlett walked toward him, her gaze briefly stopping on his phone screen before she opened her mouth in shock. "Shawn Wright?"
Chris raised his index finger, signaling her to be quiet.
Seeing this, Scarlett nodded and waited quietly beside him, though her eyes showed a mix of awkwardness and curiosity.
She had previously used Shawn to dodge George's probing, and after that, their communication had been minimal. Now, did they have to ask for his help to succeed?
Of course Scarlett didn't doubt Shawn's capabilities, but he was a politician. He couldn't easily get involved in foreign affairs, so how could he help her evade Sebastian's pursuit?
Just as Scarlett was pondering this, the call Chris made was answered.
"Shawn." Chris's tone was relaxed. Listening to the person on the other end, he chuckled. "Yeah, we've run into a bit of trouble. Why don't you have Shane come pick us up?"
Sitting nearby, Scarlett looked over. This was the first time in the four years she'd known Chris that she'd heard him mention his second brother.
Whatever Shawn said on the other end, Chris quickly glanced at Scarlett, then continued talking, though somewhat vaguely. "Who knows? Anyway, staying here is even less possible. Better to have Shane come help quickly."
His words carried a sense of urgency.
Scarlett glanced at him again but said nothing, just continued sitting quietly.
The call was soon disconnected.
Chris was grinning, looking like the matter had been resolved.
But Scarlett tilted her head and asked, "So Mr. Shawn Wright is helping too?"
Chris didn't avoid the topic and simply nodded.
Actually, Scarlett should have thought of this earlier. Although the Wright family had influence, the political power was in Shawn's hands, while the business power was in the hands of the Wright family's second son, Shane Wright.
Although Chris was a very famous professional race car driver, in terms of influence, he wasn't even as powerful as Graham, the illegitimate son of the Howard family.
But he had the advantage of being young and loved by his older brothers, so his life was going pretty well.
But when it came to snatching someone from Sebastian's hands, Chris really didn't have that capability.
After figuring this out, Scarlett looked at Chris with shock in her eyes. "Was all of this his idea?"
"Shawn knows you're in a difficult situation, so he's willing to help." Chris shrugged, speaking casually, though his eyes held some deeper meaning.
Shawn was indeed gentle, but after all, he was a politician who wouldn't be idle enough to play savior for no reason.
Whether it was the family dinner last time or this help now, it all showed his unusual attention to Scarlett. As Shawn's brother, Chris naturally couldn't miss this change in Shawn.
But Chris understood both Shawn and Scarlett.
Scarlett seemed gentle and soft like dough, but when you actually tried to mold her, you'd find she was a ball of stiff dough that wouldn't budge.
She had her own opinions, and once she decided on something, almost no one could change her mind.
Just like with Sebastian.
Even though Chris had reminded her again and again that Sebastian wasn't right for her, she still wanted to continue with him.
Although she had now made up her mind to leave, she still thought about Sebastian.
A Scarlett like this could never be with Shawn.
Fortunately, her will was firm. Now that her decision to leave was set, there wouldn't be any more accidents.
To avoid the tracking personnel they might encounter at any time, Scarlett and the others didn't leave the hotel easily, waiting in their rooms for news from Shane.
This wait lasted nearly three hours.
When the phone rang, Scarlett was already lying on the bed asleep. She was now over fifty days pregnant, and her sleep was gradually increasing.
The moment the ringtone sounded, Chris instantly shot up from the sofa, muted his phone, and only carefully answered the call after confirming that Scarlett hadn't woken up.
"Shane?"
His voice was tight, whether from fear of waking Scarlett or being intimidated by the person on the other end of the line. In any case, his voice sounded somewhat nervous.
Chris walked out of the room while talking.
He leaned against the balcony facing the artificial lake. To prevent being spotted by people downstairs, the curtains in all the rooms had been tightly drawn, and even this balcony was no exception.
"Where's your location?" The other party had no intention of small talk and got straight to the point.
Chris lifted the curtain slightly to look downstairs. At this moment, those Lumarian faces were no longer downstairs, but he remained fully alert.
After just one glance, he withdrew his hand. "Vinterra. I've sent you the specific address on your phone."
There was a brief pause on the other end, then he continued, "Got it. My people will be there in five minutes. Move fast."
Five minutes?
Chris clicked his tongue instantly, complaining inwardly that Shane was as swift and decisive as ever, but when the other party asked, he could only shake his head and put away his complaints.
"Any problem?"
"No, absolutely not! Where should we wait for them?"
"In the room."
Shane said, then hung up.
By the time Chris returned to the room, they didn't have much time left.
Fortunately, they had already packed earlier, so now they just needed to wake Scarlett.
Five minutes later, there was a knock at the door.
Chris's assistant went to open it.
Outside were two tall foreigners wearing sunglasses. They looked down at the person who opened the door, their expressions unchanged, removed their sunglasses and squeezed through the door. "Where's Mr. Wright?"
Just as the question was asked, Chris came out of the room with Scarlett.
"Just you two?" Chris saw them, froze for a moment, and incredulously stuck his head out, trying to spot a third person coming to support them.
"Don't worry, we can handle it."
They spoke with exceptional confidence. At this point, Scarlett and the others could only trust them and follow them downstairs.
