Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 297
But hearing Marco's words, Sebastian's thoughts drifted to Averly.
This Averly's appearance was definitely no coincidence. If the plan to rescue Duke had been her idea, then her feelings for Duke ran deep.
With that realization, things started clicking into place for Sebastian.
Duke was trying to rocket himself straight to the top—transform himself from bodyguard to high society's newest player.
Still, even though Sebastian had figured it out, he had no intention of sharing. He handed the report back to Marco, tone calm. "Have your people verify this report, too. Running dual tracks is safer."
Marco nodded. He'd just taken the report from Sebastian when the phone he'd set aside started ringing.
One hand reached for his phone while the other accepted the report.
"Rosa, what's wrong?"
The moment Marco answered, his hand holding the report trembled. He kept reading while listening to his daughter's voice.
But within a second, he dropped the report entirely, his tone going low and soothing. "Okay, okay, Rosa, calm down. I'll send people down right away!"
Hearing that, Sebastian glanced over sharply. Their eyes met as Marco hung up, his expression grim. Sebastian immediately knew something was very wrong. "What happened?"
"Letty's missing." Marco practically forced the words from his chest.
At that, Sebastian's lazy posture vanished instantly. He bolted upright, his voice dropping to something terrifying. "Gone? Wasn't she with Rosa?"
"She was. But a parade group just separated them." Marco couldn't sit still either. He stood, rubbing his temples, and grabbed his jacket from the chair.
Sebastian was already out the door.
In the hallway outside, he ran straight into Teddy, who was returning with his phone. Teddy had no idea what was happening and greeted Sebastian naturally.
"Mr. Howard."
But Teddy got no response. If anything—right as they passed each other, someone grabbed the back of his collar hard. Before he could speak, Sebastian's voice cut through.
"Lock Duke down. Keep questioning him. I want their list!"
Teddy didn't have time to ask what was going on. The second Sebastian finished speaking, he was gone.
Teddy rubbed his neck and called after Marco, who was chasing Sebastian. "Mr. Russo, what happened?"
"Letty's missing. Watch Duke. Get that list out of him if it kills you!" Marco had no time for details either. He threw out the essentials and sprinted after Sebastian.
Teddy froze in place for a moment before his expression turned grave. He ran back toward Duke's room.
Duke was lying down reading—a cookbook, the only book in Drovinskian available.
"Duke, give me the list."
Teddy burst through the door, expression grim, eyes locked on Duke lounging on the sofa with his book.
But Duke looked confused. "I don't have a list."
He might be a bodyguard, but thanks to his employer's paranoia, he'd never gotten access to much inside information—especially when it came to Scarlett. Hans got extra careful then.
"No list? You've worked for Hans Stafford for years, and you can't produce a single list?"
Teddy knew things had just gotten critical. He couldn't afford to let anything slide anymore. That casual attitude from earlier? Completely gone.
Now he actually looked like an interrogator.
Meanwhile, the estate dispatched five vehicles in an instant. They moved with military precision—only one car headed to where Scarlett had disappeared. The rest split off toward the docks, airport, black market, and other locations.
When Sebastian arrived, the street had already descended into chaos. Police were trying to maintain order. Rosalia sat outside a nearby café. Not far from her sat Benjamin.
With the massive crowd, cars were gridlocked at the intersection. So Sebastian got out and immediately started pushing toward the center of the crowd.
"Hey! No further! Turn back!"
Halfway there, a heavy-set cop blocked his path.
Sebastian shot him one cold look and tried to keep moving. But the officer stubbornly held his ground.
After several attempts, Sebastian was about to speak when Marco caught up from behind, faster than him. "He's with the Russo family."
Just one sentence made the cop stop blocking him. Even the onlookers around them carefully made space.
Under those circumstances, Sebastian and Marco reached Rosalia quickly.
"Did you find her?"
The moment he reached Rosalia, he asked breathlessly.
Running through that crowd had absolutely drained him.
Hearing his voice, Rosalia looked up. She was about to speak when she spotted Marco behind him.
She immediately stood and threw herself into Marco's arms. "I swear, she was right in front of me before I turned around!"
Marco felt his daughter's trembling body and patted her gently, like comforting an infant.
"It's alright. It's okay. I've already sent people to find her."
Sebastian's attention wasn't on them. He turned to Benjamin, who'd been silent this whole time. "Alright, Mr. Cooper. Let's talk. What the hell is going on here?"
That last question came out through gritted teeth.
But Benjamin drew a complete blank.
After an entire day of searching, the Russo family's people hadn't found any trace of Scarlett.
Just when everyone was at a complete loss, Sebastian—who'd been smoking with his head down—suddenly thought of something. He looked up, bloodshot eyes sweeping across everyone present.
"Where are Kevin and his maid?"
His tone was dark as hell, practically dripping with venom.
At those words, everyone turned to Benjamin.
But Benjamin waved his hands. "I have no idea. But I remember—all three of them disappeared at the same time!"
He might not go out much, but he'd lived long enough. With such an obvious implication, if he still didn't get it, he really would be an idiot!
"Disappeared at the same time..." Sebastian immediately latched onto that detail. He rolled the phrase around in his mouth, then looked at Marco. "Uncle Marco, did you get the surveillance footage from the festival?"
Marco nodded. He pulled a stack of photos from his bag. "Here's the footage. Take a look. That maid is definitely suspicious. See? She keeps grabbing at Letty."
The photos were practically frame-by-frame shots. Everyone could clearly see the maid reaching out to grab Scarlett. And Kevin stood right there beside them, glancing over multiple times but never stopping it.
Seeing this, Benjamin finally understood. "Impossible. Kevin would never do something like this!"
But his protests were just empty words. No one was buying it.
Just as everyone was about to issue a warrant for Kevin, a bodyguard came in from outside and spoke in Seraphine. "Ms. Seymour is back!"
At that news, relief washed over everyone. They all stood and rushed outside.
And Scarlett wasn't the only one who'd returned. Kevin came back with her, but the maid who'd been following Kevin the whole time was nowhere to be seen.
