Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 173

6 min 2 views

Sebastian once mentioned Scarlett during a casual conversation with his subordinates.

"Scar is very intelligent," he had said.

Nearly none of his staff responded. In their eyes, Scarlett hardly qualified as intelligent—they viewed her more as a pampered, naive pretty face who had grown up sheltered from the world's harsh realities.

But now, facing Scarlett's scrutinizing gaze, Teddy acknowledged Sebastian's assessment for the first time.

"I got injured fooling around with friends," he said instinctively, lowering his head to hide the wound at his eyebrow—a gesture that immediately aroused Scarlett's suspicion.

Sitting on the sofa, she examined him with furrowed brows. "Fooling around that seriously?"

Teddy maintained his composure. "We're all trained fighters. This kind of injury is normal."

He expected Scarlett to press further, but surprisingly, she dropped the subject.

She returned to reading her pregnancy magazine with focused attention.

Recently, with Michael practically living at his office and Skylake Road Number 5 filled with Sebastian's people, Scarlett had grown somewhat uninhibited.

Sebastian clearly approved of and was satisfied with this change.

Even Howard Group employees were commenting on how unusually approachable Sebastian had become lately. Some had even posted online, wishing he would maintain this pleasant demeanor indefinitely.

Though Scarlett remained unaware of these comments, from her perspective, life had indeed become considerably more comfortable.

The two spent every day inseparable, and Scarlett found herself growing attached to Sebastian's gentleness.

Sometimes she wondered if everything that had happened before was merely a dream, and this current happiness was the true reality.

But this beautiful dream shattered quickly.

On the third afternoon after Teddy's return, a violent noise erupted outside Skylake Road Number 5.

The sound jolted Scarlett awake from her nap.

Just as she rolled out of bed, Teddy burst through her bedroom door with several bodyguards.

"Forgive the intrusion, Ms. Seymour."

Teddy's expression was grave as he apologized in a low voice. In the next second, he scooped Scarlett up, blanket and all!

Before Scarlett could even release a scream, Teddy covered her mouth.

The group moved hastily, taking the stairs down to the garage.

"Where's Ms. Seymour?" Scarlett heard Libbie's voice.

She peeked out from the blanket and met Libbie's gaze. Upon seeing her, Libbie immediately sighed with relief.

"Thank goodness. Quickly, get in the car. Everything's been arranged."

With no time to explain further, everyone quickly entered the vehicles.

The group split into three cars.

Teddy didn't drive. With a serious expression, he sat with Scarlett in the back seat.

The partition between them and the driver was raised.

Scarlett's seat was cushioned for comfort. Despite the chaos surrounding them, she received the best care.

Only after the car began moving smoothly did Scarlett find an opportunity to speak.

"What's happening?"

Her mind was still foggy, almost as if she were still dreaming.

"Graham is furious and wants to capture you," Teddy replied quickly, though his vague explanation left Scarlett confused.

She didn't press further, instead analyzing what information she had.

It seemed something had changed in the power struggle between Graham and Sebastian, and her relationship with Sebastian had been exposed to Graham.

Graham likely believed that by capturing her, he could use her as leverage against Sebastian.

But... Scarlett frowned, unable to understand why Graham would target her. Wouldn't Adeline be a more intimidating target?

After all, Adeline was publicly known as Sebastian's intended bride.

She was nothing more than a mistress without any official status.

Scarlett genuinely felt Graham had targeted the wrong person.

However, none of this was for her to decide.

News of the commotion at Skylake Road Number 5 quickly reached both George and Michael.

In the main bedroom of Howard Manor, George's face turned ashen as he smashed his teacup!

"Absolutely disgraceful! That animal!"

The guard rushed to calm him, but nothing could quell George's fury.

"That bastard Graham dared to go after Scarlett! She's his adopted sister! His sister!"

He roared, and just as his anger began to subside slightly, the butler continued his report.

"Graham claims that Mr. Sebastian Howard and Ms. Seymour are in a romantic relationship... and that Ms. Seymour is... pregnant..." The butler spoke as if wishing the ground would swallow him whole.

"Absolute nonsense!" This enraged George even further. His eyes rolled back, and he nearly fainted.

After a long while, George finally recovered enough to snatch the documents from the butler's hand.

When he saw the notation about "50 days pregnant," he gasped sharply and immediately flipped the page.

With that, Howard Manor also descended into chaos.

---

When Michael heard the news, he was stunned. After politely dismissing the messenger, he immediately called Sebastian.

"Sebi, Graham's people just came by with some information."

His tone remained measured.

Sebastian's voice matched his calm. "He also sent word to Howard Manor—probably the same information you received."

Hearing his tone, Michael relaxed slightly. "You seem prepared. That's good. Where do you plan to relocate Scar? Perhaps she should return to—"

"I'm sending her to Seraphim," Sebastian replied steadily, clearly having decided this long ago.

Michael froze, recalling the news he'd just heard. "You..."

"The information is accurate," Sebastian said, rubbing the inner corner of his eye, his tone betraying no particular emotion. "My intentions toward her are serious."

Michael's expression turned strange. With nowhere to direct his anger, he could only curse briefly before hanging up.

Sebastian listened to the dial tone, his expression unchanged, though the determination in his eyes only grew stronger.

Meanwhile, Orion, who had been silent for some time, was nearly frantic, wishing he could take a knife to Graham himself!

He had been monitoring communications for days, fearing he might miss something important, but never imagined Graham would make such a bold move.

He managed to intercept messages meant for the public, but couldn't stop those sent to Howard Manor and Michael.

"Call my older brother and ask him to keep an eye on Michael's situation," Orion ordered.

He didn't trust Michael—if not for Sebastian's insistence on including him, Orion would never have agreed to let someone who had been disabled for ten years participate in their plan.

As the saying goes, "The lame are vicious, the blind are poisonous."

Orion couldn't believe that someone who had been paralyzed for a decade could still be the same dashing gentleman from ten years ago.

And this involved Scarlett—Michael's beloved cousin whom he had cherished most back then.

---

At Howard Manor, George had just regained consciousness when he raised his hand, his voice weak but clearly angry.

"Go! Bring that rebellious Sebastian back to me!"

Just as he finished speaking, Sebastian entered through the doorway. He stood tall, his head slightly bowed, then looked up. "Grandfather."
