Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 232

Sebastian understood Marco's psychology perfectly.

He sat in the silver-black Bentley, glancing sideways out the window. The Century Scientific Research Conference venue he'd just attended grew smaller and smaller as the car rounded the landscaped area in front of the building.

His fingers drummed lightly against the armrest as Sebastian spoke in a calm voice, his words measured and slow. "I know what you want to do, Uncle, but given the current circumstances, it's better to be cautious."

On the other end of the line, Marco's voice paused briefly before he continued speaking, his tone noticeably more resigned. "I understand."

Sebastian knew Marco loved him dearly, which meant his uncle would never do anything to obstruct his plans.

"Having your word puts me at ease. She'll need your attention on that end. Once Adeline is sent to Eldoria, I'll have Teddy come over."

"Aren't you worried she'll run?"

The 'she' naturally referred to Adeline.

Marco had learned everything about Adeline from Olivia long ago. The moment he discovered she'd used suicide to force Sebastian into appearing, his impression of her had soured. When Olivia subsequently filled him in on more details about Adeline's motives for approaching Sebastian, that impression plummeted even further, crashing straight through rock bottom.

Back in their fathers' generation, someone like that would've been dumped in the swamplands already. The idea of her going to Eldoria was laughable.

Marco couldn't help but snort coldly at the thought.

Sebastian heard the derisive sound, and though somewhat puzzled by it, it didn't stop him from answering the question. "She's going to Rottenisa Wellness Center."

"Wow!" The location clearly surprised even Marco, who had once been part of the mafia. His eyebrows shot up instantly, followed by an exclamation from his gaping mouth, then genuine admiration. "Now that's an excellent choice of venue."

Rottenisa Wellness Center was notorious in Eldoria for its strict policies. Patients weren't mistreated, but their internet access was severely restricted. The facility used an internal network that only had signal in the main building.

Getting in touch with the outside world from there wouldn't be easy.

Marco's worry crept back in. "Still, she's an unpredictable factor. Keeping her there might not be entirely safe."

"That depends on their capabilities," Sebastian replied indifferently.

The car happened to take a curved uphill turn at that moment, causing his body to lean back against the seat.

With those words, Marco understood his nephew had likely prepared for contingencies.

"Alright, when are you leaving? I'll have someone arrange a plane."

Sebastian declined. "I'll take a commercial airline. Charter a flight."

Marco paused. "You don't trust my people?"

"Not at all. But with eyes watching from behind, caution is our best bet."

In the eyes of those coveting the inheritance, Marco had already entered their field of vision. Though the Russo family wielded considerable power, they still needed to maintain vigilance when facing unknown enemies.

If the Russo family's resources became exposed to James's scrutiny, a pincer attack from both sides would pose no small challenge for the Russos.

As for Sebastian's Howard family, they had their homeland backing them. Even if those people wanted to make a move, they'd have to weigh whether they had the strength for it.

Setting aside George, who helmed the Howard family, even the security personnel around Sebastian each held significant military positions. After all, George possessed classified research—something he'd spent most of his life developing. To this day, none of his students or subordinates had truly mastered the experimental data.

It was precisely because of this that George always had different security details protecting him. Sebastian had also participated in researching and restoring that data.

When the Howard family later entered commerce, it was part of an adjustment following the country's resource redistribution—essentially a side venture. However, the Howard family already had ancestral assets, and with national support for aggressive expansion, their momentum became unstoppable. They leaped to become one of Sovereign City's most powerful family conglomerates.

With such a powerful background, Sebastian wasn't worried about retaliation at all. His only vulnerability was Scarlett.

Though she was nominally a Howard family daughter, things were different for her. If she became a target, George would probably just feel sorry rather than truly angry. And with her currently abroad, not under direct Howard family protection, the chances of someone exploiting that gap were much higher.

Marco naturally understood Sebastian's concerns. After all, Dexter and Lucia had died unexpectedly in a multi-front ambush during those riots.

In that entire uprising, only two people died: Dexter and Lucia.

When Marco learned the news, he'd wanted to seek immediate revenge. Olivia had stopped him, saying only one thing:

[This family doesn't need two men's sacrifices.]

Just that one sentence made Marco calm down. He still went to Marigoldia, but instead of seeking revenge, he simply brought back the helpless Sebastian.

Now that child had grown into a man who could consider so many angles. Marco felt deeply gratified. "Good boy, I understand what you mean. I won't do anything to them."

Without realizing it, their call had lasted thirty minutes.

The silver-black Bentley came to a stop in the underground garage of Skylake Road No. 1. The flawless, gleaming body looked even more imposing under the bright garage lights.

Mark in the driver's seat unbuckled his seatbelt the moment the car stopped, then pulled the door handle only after they were completely still. He walked around to the rear door to open it for Sebastian.

Sebastian had already ended his call with Marco, holding the black phone in his hand before passing it to Mark. His tone was flat as he said, "Keep monitoring Nico Smith's end. Watch Shane's every move closely."

Nico was the guy dispatched to Eldoria this time—Shane's secretary who'd departed for Eldoria that very morning. He would meet with James in Shane's place.

Sebastian knew exactly how Shane had briefed Nico before departure, but he worried Shane might impulsively change plans on a whim.

Mark nodded, taking the phone. "I'll arrange it immediately."

The two walked toward the elevator hall together.

As they passed a corner ahead, a flashy hot pink sports car occupied one of the parking spots. Despite the ostentatious color, Sebastian didn't even furrow his brow. "Didn't we say he couldn't come over without notice?"

He asked while continuing to walk.

Mark followed, glancing over. "We did notify him, but Mr. Watson probably has some urgent matter."

"No excuse for his behavior. Absolutely no manners." Sebastian entered the elevator, his tone slightly cold, clearly displeased with Orion's visit.

His unwelcoming attitude had reached its peak.

Meanwhile, Orion waited in the living room, completely oblivious to all this. He drank his wine with already glazed eyes, looking up at the constantly changing elevator floor numbers with a stiff smile.
