Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 254

6 min 2 views

Inside the Howard Group.

Sebastian had just finished a cross-border conference call. Expanding into overseas markets was proving more difficult than expected.

Sebastian loosened his tie and leaned back in his office chair with his eyes closed, his well-defined fingers tapping lightly on the desk surface. The rhythmic pattern carried a hint of impatience.

When his secretary knocked and entered, she caught Sebastian opening his eyes, the coldness in them still lingering.

"What is it?" Sebastian asked, his voice slightly hoarse.

"The legal department in Europe called back. The risk report on trademark registration has been sent to your email." The secretary placed freshly brewed coffee gently on the desk, her gaze sweeping over Sebastian's furrowed brow before adding, "The Southeast Asian partners want to increase their profit share by fifteen percent."

Hearing this, Sebastian let out a soft snort and picked up his coffee for a sip. Though bitter, it soothed his throat. "They're all quite the calculators."

The secretary couldn't participate in such discussions, so she just lowered her head silently, waiting for his response.

But Mark's sudden entrance interrupted Sebastian's impending reply.

"Mr. Howard, Mrs. Myers is here."

Sebastian paused mid-sentence and waved his hand in instruction. "Have her wait in the lounge."

Mark nodded and immediately left.

He came and went quickly, but didn't disrupt Sebastian's train of thought at all.

"Have the CFO compile the Southeast Asian partners' profit reports for the past three years within half an hour. At the same time, have legal prepare a supplementary agreement draft—they know what to highlight. Before 3 PM, send both documents along with your response recommendations to my email."

His speech was measured and steady. The coffee on his desk was only half-finished before being abandoned.

"If there are any new developments from the partners, call immediately. Don't wait for protocol."

The secretary nodded repeatedly, taking notes, and followed him out of the office for several steps before nodding. "Right, I'll handle it immediately."

Sebastian strode toward the lounge with long legs, his gait still carrying the crispness of recently concluded negotiations.

Mark was already waiting by the door. Seeing him approach, he immediately stepped forward and gently pressed the door handle, pushing the wooden door wider with practiced, silent movements.

"Mrs. Myers." Sebastian nodded to the person inside, his voice shedding much of the coldness from his negotiations and gaining some warmth.

He sat down in the single armchair opposite, his fingers unconsciously tracing the patterns on the armrest as he got straight to the point. "What brings you here today?"

Tiffany was holding a bone china teacup, taking small sips of black tea. Hearing his question, she set down the cup, the bottom clinking against the saucer with a crisp sound. Her face wore a gentle smile. "I heard you've been so busy with overseas matters that your feet barely touch the ground. Your grandfather misses you but feels too awkward to come himself, so he sent me instead."

Sebastian raised an eyebrow slightly, knowing this was her excuse, but not calling her out on it. He just smiled and nodded. "Thank you for the trouble, Mrs. Myers."

"I had the kitchen stew some chicken soup and put it in a thermal container. I'll have Mr. Rogers put it in your office later. No matter how busy you are, you can't neglect your health, right?"

Tiffany spoke gently and unhurriedly.

Sebastian also picked up his teacup, enjoying this rare moment of leisure. The lid gently stirred the tea foam with crisp sounds. "Mrs. Myers came just for this?"

He didn't have time for small talk, so he once again got straight to the point.

Tiffany wasn't offended. She understood how busy Sebastian was these days, so she didn't beat around the bush and stated her purpose directly.

"I've recently discovered some things—all old matters from years past. Since we've both been running around because of this lately, let's share information and see if our intel is accurate."

When discussing serious matters, Tiffany's voice became grave. Though still gentle, it carried an undeniable weight. "About Clinton's incident back then—Alvina investigated it once. She only found one name: Neville, from the Norvayne Confederacy."

This was indeed new information for Sebastian.

He raised an eyebrow slightly. "How did you find this out?"

"Alvina had an account that only the three of us knew the login and password for." Tiffany lowered her head and took a sip of tea, her voice calm but her eyes cold.

Sebastian nodded without probing further and continued asking, "What else?"

"The organization is located in Eldoria, but most of its members operate in the Thalassia area." Tiffany set down her teacup, the corners of her mouth carrying a slight smile. "Perhaps that friend of yours knows some of them."

Sebastian's fingertip paused at the cup's rim, the tea foam's ripples stopping for a moment. He looked up at Tiffany, his eyes shedding their recent relaxation and gaining some sharpness. "You mean Shane Wright?"

"He's been stationed in Thalassia year-round. Those people are powerful and influential—there's bound to be some intersection." Tiffany's voice was calm, but it inexplicably carried a sense of pressure.

Sebastian didn't speak, the lid unconsciously sliding across the cup's rim.

Shane indeed stayed in Thalassia year-round, with deeply entangled connections. If he really had ties to that organization, he might unconsciously provide them with information.

But at the same time, they could also get more accurate intel through Shane.

However, that guy Shane always prioritized profit. Getting his help would probably take some effort.

Tiffany saw through his thoughts and tapped the cup wall lightly. "You don't need to rush into using him. His interactions with you have been getting closer lately. Using him now might alert them."

Sebastian's thoughts aligned with hers. Hearing her reminder, he smiled and nodded.

"Alright, having tea with you doesn't take much time. I should go." Tiffany raised her hand to check her watch and stood up to leave. When she reached the door, she turned back to add a reminder: "Ms. Seymour staying abroad isn't as safe as being domestic."

Hearing her mention Scarlett, Sebastian looked over.

Her words continued: "I don't want her to follow in her mother's footsteps. You'd better bring her back and have her stay at the Howard Manor. That would be the safest option."

The fingers resting on the armrest imperceptibly tightened. Sebastian's tone remained unchanged, his voice still calm. "I have this matter under control, Mrs. Myers. Don't worry."

As an elder who had watched him grow up, Tiffany naturally understood Sebastian's temperament. Hearing this, she knew she couldn't persuade him, so she could only nod and leave.

Shortly after Tiffany left, Sebastian returned to his office.

There was indeed a thermal container on the coffee table in the office—presumably the chicken soup Tiffany had mentioned.

Sebastian had no interest in such stewed soups. He just glanced at it once before picking up his tablet to continue analyzing reports.

"Mr. Howard, Mr. Russo is on the phone."

Mark came in a few minutes later, handing over the already-connected call.

"Uncle Marco." Sebastian took it, and after hearing what the other person said, his eyes sharpened, and his voice tone dropped suddenly, carrying rolling anger. "Did you catch him?"

Marco leaned against the door's railing, glancing at the man being held down, his tone casual. "Caught him. He had a camera, taking pictures of nothing but Letty."

He spoke while flipping through the camera in his hands.

"Send it to you."

Without knowing what Sebastian said on the other end, Marco took down his phone, opened a social media platform, took a photo of the man's face, and sent it over.
