Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 86

6 min 2 views

The sudden commotion startled both Toby and Andy. They turned toward the door, ready to snap at the intruder, but froze when they saw who it was.

"Mr. Parker?"

The newcomer was none other than Teddy. He took one glance at Scarlett in Toby's arms, his brow furrowing instantly.

Without hesitation, he stepped forward, took her from Toby's grasp, and delivered a powerful kick straight to Toby's chest.

Teddy was trained in martial arts, and the force behind that kick was no joke. Toby cried out in pain and vomited stomach acid on the spot.

Andy watched in shock, initially just stunned. When he saw Teddy's violence, anger flared, but knowing the man was Sebastian's associate, he could only suppress his rage.

"Mr. Parker, what do you think you're doing? Even if you work for Mr. Howard, you can't just assault people like this!"

Teddy wasn't one for many words. Hearing Andy's accusation, he simply replied coldly, "Take it up with Mr. Howard," before carrying Scarlett out.

The moment they exited, men in black suits who had been waiting outside immediately entered the private room.

Adele, hiding in a corner with her phone, nearly dropped it at the sight. She didn't recognize Teddy, but his demeanor made it clear he wasn't someone to be trifled with.

Her hand trembled slightly as she clutched her phone. She hadn't expected Scarlett to have such connections.

As startled as she was, Adele felt relieved she hadn't been in the private room when Teddy arrived.

Attempting to appear calm, she walked down the hallway, thinking no one had noticed her. But just as she was about to enter the elevator, a man in a black suit blocked her path with his arm.

"Adele Seymour," he said, addressing her by name, which only heightened her anxiety.

Adele kept her head down, avoiding eye contact. "Excuse me, you've mistaken me for someone else. I—"

She tried to force her way into the elevator but was grabbed by the arm and pulled back toward the private room.

Growing more frightened, Adele protested, "Do you know who I am? My cousin is about to get engaged to Mr. Howard! If anything happens to me—"

Her fragile, unconvincing threat was cut short as she was shoved back into the private room.

By now, Andy and Toby had been beaten black and blue. Despite their condition, they remained defiant, arguing loudly about reporting Teddy to Sebastian, claiming he had abused his authority.

From their scattered comments, Adele learned that the man who had taken Scarlett was Sebastian's personal assistant.

At this revelation, Adele's panic reached its peak. She doubted a mere assistant would act so boldly without backing.

Realizing whose stance Teddy's appearance represented, she immediately tried to message Edith.

However, just as she pulled out her phone, someone snatched it away and smashed it on the floor without hesitation!

Adele stared in disbelief.

"Ms. Seymour, please wait patiently," said the man who had destroyed her phone, his expression completely neutral and coldly detached.

Scarlett was still conscious when they entered the elevator. She knew someone had burst in, but the ringing in her ears from the dizziness made it impossible to hear clearly. She had no idea who had come for her.

During the journey out, she tried to struggle, but the drug was taking full effect. Her strength drained rapidly until she hung limply in Teddy's arms like a corpse, her hands dangling uselessly and her legs completely slack.

A silver-black Bentley pulled into the hotel's underground garage a minute later.

"Mr. Howard, I see them," Mark reported, spotting the figures by the elevator exit.

The man in the back seat remained silent. The tension in the car was so thick that even Mark found himself taking shallow breaths.

The Bentley stopped at the elevator exit. Mark quickly opened the door, intending to help, but the man in the back moved faster.

Sebastian took Scarlett from Teddy's arms, his expression dark, jaw clenched tight. Scarlett's small frame fit easily in one of his arms. He patted her face.

"Scarlett, wake up."

No response.

Getting back into the car, Sebastian left his men with just one instruction, "Clean this up."

Teddy nodded, watching the silver-black Bentley drive away before turning to head back upstairs and carry out Sebastian's orders.

The Bentley left the hotel garage and, within minutes, veered off the main city roads toward the outskirts.

When Scarlett regained consciousness, pain arrived before vision.

She instinctively reached to clutch her stomach but felt a monitoring device on her finger. The slight tug alerted her to something unusual, making her pause.

Looking around, Scarlett realized she was in a hospital. She was momentarily bewildered—had those men actually brought her to a hospital? Had she misjudged them?

As this thought crossed her mind, she examined her surroundings more carefully and noticed something odd.

The room was spacious, and the décor immediately told her this was no ordinary hospital.

Even with the Howard Group's generous salaries, those two men couldn't have afforded a private hospital like this.

Realizing someone else must have brought her here, Scarlett frowned.

Through the window, she could see a garden and even a partial bird's-eye view of the city. It instantly reminded her of the VIP rooms at Evercrest Memorial Hospital.

She tried to sit up for a better look when she heard voices through the partially open door.

"The situation is manageable. No need to worry too much."

"Does she need to stay hospitalized?"

It was Sebastian's voice.

Scarlett froze, then felt something strange in her chest—like a gaping wound suddenly beginning to heal, bringing with it a tingling sensation.

She held herself up for a moment longer before lying back down. Strangely, knowing Sebastian was there erased any fear she might have felt.

"Definitely. This was drug ingestion, and especially during her period—this type of drug can affect organs like the uterus."

"Also, she should limit her emergency contraceptive use. Taking those too frequently isn't good."

After the doctor said this, Sebastian didn't respond for a long time. Scarlett's healing heart began to crack again, inch by inch. She could guess what Sebastian's answer would be.

Sure enough, a moment later, Sebastian replied coldly, "She can't have children."

The doctor didn't hesitate. "Alright, then she should take the short-term pills daily. That way, if you ever want children, she can just stop taking them."

Scarlett turned her head toward the window, her eyes growing warm with unshed tears.

A moment later, Sebastian pushed open the door and immediately met Scarlett's gaze. She lay there obediently, her eyes slightly red, likely from crying.

"When did you wake up?" He walked over and poured a glass of water.

"Just now. My stomach hurts," Scarlett lied, her expression blank.

The bed raised slightly as she took a sip of water, studying Sebastian's face. "I was drugged, wasn't I?"

Sebastian grunted in affirmation.

"It was Edith's doing, wasn't it?" Scarlett's gaze was certain, yet she still asked.

Sebastian frowned. "What?"

"Adele took me there, and she said Edith was behind it..." she began, presenting her evidence.

But Sebastian cut her off. His gaze was level, his voice low with warning. "Is that so?"

Scarlett's words faltered.
