Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 246

The message reached Sebastian just as he was about to board his private jet back home.

The phone had barely rung for a second when Mark silenced it, then quickly approached Sebastian, lowering his voice. "It's Teddy calling."

Sebastian, who had been resting with his eyes closed against his chair, snapped them open the instant he heard Teddy's name.

His gaze shifted, landing on the phone. He reached for it and gestured for Mark to step back.

"What's wrong?"

Once connected, Sebastian adjusted his position. His previously relaxed demeanor vanished completely as he stretched his legs forward and crossed them, maintaining a casual pose that somehow radiated intimidation.

"Mr. Russo came by today," Teddy's respectful voice came through the receiver.

"I know."

"He brought Ms. Seymour a photograph..." Teddy's voice paused, seeming to hesitate or perhaps showing irritation. "He also told Ms. Seymour that the photo was taken by her father."

By this point, Sebastian already understood why Teddy was calling.

His eyes darkened slightly, and his fingers began tapping against the armrest in a slow rhythm. Mark, watching from the side, immediately recognized the signs of Sebastian's foul mood.

'Something must have happened with Scarlett.' Mark quietly stepped back half a pace, giving him privacy.

Sebastian's fingers stilled, dark currents swirling in his eyes. After a moment of silence, he let out a soft sigh. "How did she react?"

Hearing that Sebastian didn't intend to hold Marco accountable, Teddy seemed surprised but immediately answered. "Ms. Seymour wasn't in the best mood. After learning this news, she went upstairs."

Though it was a simple statement, Sebastian could easily imagine how she must have looked in that moment.

He fell silent again before speaking in a slightly steadier tone. "I see."

Seeing that Sebastian truly didn't plan to pursue the matter, Teddy couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Howard, Mr. Russo acted on his own this time..."

While Marco and Sebastian were related, and Marco was even Sebastian's elder, in certain matters, Sebastian was the one in control.

For Marco to make such an independent decision should have angered Sebastian, but now, far from being angry, he hadn't even offered simple criticism.

Teddy couldn't help wondering if Sebastian had actually approved of this.

However, Sebastian's next words explained everything.

"Michael is receiving treatment at a psychiatric hospital. Compared to Clinton's situation, this is what really needs to be kept secret."

Though Teddy wasn't in the country, to ensure his intelligence stayed current, Mark immediately informed him whenever certain events occurred domestically. Because of this, when Sebastian mentioned Michael, Teddy understood immediately.

If Scarlett learned about this, whether through honest explanation or otherwise, Sebastian would become the target of her resentment. After all, Sebastian had chosen this psychiatric hospital, and he had personally sent Michael there.

All signs pointed to Sebastian as the mastermind behind it all.

"I understand." Teddy nodded slightly, lowering his voice even more to prevent anyone from overhearing their conversation.

"Good."

Sebastian clearly had no desire for small talk. After a brief acknowledgment, he hung up.

Hearing the dial tone, Teddy simply shrugged, pocketed his phone, and returned to the living room from the balcony.

"Tattling, are we?"

Just as he emerged from the balcony, Teddy heard Marco's voice again.

The teasing tone made it hard to believe this was coming from a native Seraphim speaker.

Teddy turned to look at him, his expression indifferent as he pocketed his phone, his tone equally dry. "Mr. Russo is joking."

Marco didn't bother exposing his obvious lie. He smiled, his voice steady but still teasing. "Let me guess—he didn't hold me accountable, right?"

Marco had hit the mark completely, but Teddy didn't think he actually knew the truth. He raised an eyebrow and played along. "Yes, as expected of Mr. Russo, you can even guess that."

Flattery, whether falling on Lumarian or foreign ears, was always well-received.

Marco smiled, clearly pleased.

But Teddy began probing. If Marco knew about Michael's situation, things would become complicated.

He slowly walked to the sofa, sitting almost face-to-face with Marco.

On the coffee table in front of them sat a cup of coffee he'd made before his phone call. By now, the steam had dissipated, though it was still perfectly drinkable.

Using the coffee as cover, Teddy lowered his gaze to hide the probing look in his eyes, his fingertips tracing the warm surface of the cup. "Mr. Russo certainly understands Mr. Howard's temperament well. It's just that Ms. Seymour will probably need several days to recover."

Marco shrugged carelessly. "Better than having you all keep lying to her."

Seeing that he didn't mention Michael, Teddy relaxed slightly but casually brought it up. "Originally, we planned to have Mr. Michael Seymour tell Ms. Seymour. He's her cousin, so he would have been more appropriate than either of us."

Marco froze, genuinely unaware of this detail. He slapped his forehead in frustration. "So that was the plan. I really did mess up then."

His frank admission of fault completely relaxed Teddy. His shoulders loosened as he leaned back against the sofa, taking small sips of his coffee. "It's fine. Mr. Howard said that since she knows now, there's nothing to be done about it."

The bit about Michael telling her was complete fiction.

However, Marco didn't expose this lie, instead showing genuine regret—the meaning couldn't be clearer.

Understanding that Marco had no idea about Michael's true situation, Teddy began viewing him more favorably and even initiated further conversation.

The two weren't strangers to begin with, and their relationship improved considerably through their exchange.

As for Scarlett—

After going upstairs, her mood wasn't continuously low.

Libbie followed her, and since the upstairs bedroom had a simple wet bar, she made Scarlett a hot honey citrus tea to help ease her distress.

When the hot tea was brought to Scarlett, she was lying on the daybed in the bedroom, lost in thought, with the photograph resting on her chest.

"Ms. Seymour, please have some tea."

Seeing her like this, Libbie couldn't help feeling heartbroken, her voice trembling slightly with sighs.

Scarlett numbly accepted the cup. The warm surface continuously radiated heat, indeed driving away much of the chill and causing her frozen heart to seemingly beat again.

"Don't blame Mr. Howard for this. He..." Thinking Scarlett was upset about Sebastian's concealment, Libbie had barely begun speaking when she saw Scarlett gently wave her hand.

"No, that's not it, Libbie."

Scarlett sat up with the hot tea, her head lowered as she spoke softly.
