Let Me Go, Mr. Howard Chapter 176
Chris had never met Graham, but he could pretty much guess what was going through his mind. So, he just chuckled and let it go.
They didn't chat for long, just exchanged some crucial info.
After hanging up with Chris, Scarlett sat on the couch, deep in thought.
Well, not exactly deep in thought. She was piecing together the info she'd just gotten.
According to Chris, the tension between Graham and Sebastian had been ramping up lately, all seemingly triggered by that car accident involving Teddy a while back.
Thinking about Teddy made Scarlett remember the time he disappeared for three days and came back with visible injuries.
Back then, she felt something was off but didn't think too deeply about it since she thought it had nothing to do with her.
But now, looking at the timeline, the day Teddy had his accident coincided with her prenatal checkup at the hospital. It was late, and Sebastian had insisted she stay overnight at the hospital.
She hadn't understood it then, but now it all seemed to make sense.
Sebastian must have known Graham would make a move, and according to the original plan, she would have been traveling in Teddy's car.
Which meant Graham's target was her.
Scarlett didn't think she had anything that would make Graham take such a risky action.
If she had to guess, it was more likely the baby she was carrying that prompted Graham's actions.
It was easy to see why Graham wouldn't want this baby to be born.
Scarlett touched her belly, realizing that even before this child was fully formed, the surrounding circumstances were already so challenging. What would happen when he was born?
Sending her abroad was clearly Sebastian's way of protecting the baby, which also showed how much he valued this child.
Inevitably, Scarlett thought of what Adeline had said.
A wave of anxiety crept up from the depths of her heart. Was Sebastian doing all this to protect her?
Scarlett bit her lip, her breathing becoming rapid at the thought.
Her fingers slowly moved to the satellite phone beside her.
She swallowed and dialed a number.
The call was quickly answered.
"Seb…"
Scarlett had just started speaking when she was interrupted by the voice on the other end.
"Seb, you know I can't have children. I really wish I could have a child!" Adeline's voice was filled with sobs.
Scarlett couldn't hear Sebastian's voice clearly. No, it wasn't that she couldn't hear it, but it was too faint to make out.
After a while, Adeline's voice came through again.
"I know Ms. Seymour is pregnant."
She was interrupted again, but then her voice continued.
"No, that would make Ms. Seymour sad, I…"
Scarlett didn't listen to the rest. She hung up the phone, almost in a panic.
Tears streamed down her face, her heart aching, but it couldn't compare to the pain in her belly.
She curled up on the couch, groaning softly from the pain.
The commotion quickly caught Libbie's attention.
Libbie had been sleeping in a small side room. She woke up in the middle of the night, hearing the noise from the living room, and rushed over, wide awake.
"Ms. Seymour?"
Libbie took a closer look and saw Scarlett clutching her stomach, her face pale.
Fortunately, there was a private doctor on board the plane.
Scarlett was soon lying down, and with the doctor's intervention, the pain in her belly gradually subsided.
She quickly fell into a restless sleep, murmuring in her sleep, but her voice was too faint to understand.

1 Skylake Road.
When Sebastian learned that Adeline had come, he didn't want to see her. With Scarlett out of the country, he didn't need a shield anymore.
But considering her relationship with Graham, Sebastian decided to let her in.
He met her in his study.
Adeline had been crying; her eyes were red when she came to see him.
Adeline always knew how to find Sebastian's soft spots.
Sebastian sat behind his desk, the light falling on Adeline's tear-streaked face, making her look a lot like Scarlett.
Adeline didn't miss the fleeting look of distraction in Sebastian's eyes.
In the past, she would have felt proud of it, but after what happened that afternoon, she understood that he was always looking at someone else through her eyes.
That someone was Scarlett, whom Sebastian was protecting.
Adeline was, of course, jealous. She bit her lip and cautiously approached, trying to evoke Sebastian's memories.
"Sebi, do you remember the first time we met?"
Sebastian didn't follow her lead. He flatly reminded her, "You're here for Graham, aren't you?"
Seeing that he wasn't in the mood for small talk, Adeline felt a bit embarrassed, but at least there was no one else around to witness it.
"He acts recklessly. Let me guess, you're the one giving him the confidence." Sebastian chuckled, but there was no humor in his eyes, only a coldness that couldn't be ignored.
Adeline bit her lip and sniffled, starting to cry again. "What are you talking about? How could I have that kind of power?"
Her act was just beginning.
Sebastian picked up a file from the side and tossed it over.
The sharp sound was like a slap, instantly silencing Adeline's sobs.
She glanced at the file on the floor, a flash of panic in her eyes, quickly hidden. She pretended not to understand. "What is this?"
Sebastian's tone didn't change. "You can pick it up and see for yourself."
Adeline didn't move. She knew what was in the file. Not picking it up gave her some leeway. If she picked it up and looked at it, there would be no denying it.
The study remained silent for a long time.
Seeing she wasn't moving, Sebastian took a deep breath, leaning forward with his hands clasped. "Addie, I once believed you were under Graham's influence, but now it seems you're the one influencing him."
His voice had a unique smoky quality, not raspy, but even more alluring when it was low.
Adeline loved that voice.
She looked up at Sebastian sitting behind the desk, his amber eyes and the aura of authority around him enough to inspire awe.
But that didn't include Adeline.
She always believed she was special to Sebastian.
But five years ago, when she learned that Sebastian had taken in another woman, that special feeling began to fade.
Adeline vividly remembered the foolish things she did when she heard the news.
"Sebi, I did it all for you."
She showed no remorse, her eyes full of love.
But Sebastian remained unmoved, staring coldly at her. "For me? You got involved with my uncle's illegitimate son, trying to take over my family's assets, and you say it was for me? Adeline, even lies need to have some limits, don't they?"
