Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 101
Fiona's POV
From where I stood, I could hear Linda's voice crystal clear, the sound echoing across the entire house, almost like a melody that nearly welcomed everyone to come into the Alpha home. There was not a day that I entered this mansion and did not feel welcomed. It was exactly how I always pictured a home to be, surrounded by loved ones and the rooms filled laughter and crazy stories. I never wanted to leave this place and felt at home. But as much as I tried to force my way down the stairs and join in on the fun taking place in the kitchen, I found myself turning around and closing the door shut behind me. I couldn't go down there now. Despite their welcoming smiles from last night, I couldn't shake off the feeling that they were not quite ready to welcome me fully back into the pack. Their hesitation and doubt was clearly seen in the eyes, even though they did their best to conceal it whenever they looked my way. But I always saw it, that sliver of disappointment that was another stab to my already weakened heart
Shaking my head, I made my way to the window and sit down on the cushioned windowsill. Pulling the curtains away, I peer down the front driveway that is easily visible from Blake' room. Below there are several cars parked, no doubt from some of the pack members that were currently downstairs
Looking up at the trees that surrounded the property, I couldn't help but smile as they swayed in the breeze, the promise of a chilly Fall fast approaching. The leaves were still vibrant shades of green, glistening under the sunlight that shined high above, not a single cloud in the sky. I leaned my head against the warm glass, taking in a deep breath as I shut my eyes. How breathtaking Black Forest was, and yet I felt as if my mere presence was tainting its evident beauty
The sound of a car pulling up caught my attention, immediately making me open my eyes and look down. A black SUV pulled up in front of the main doors, its engine shutting off in an instant. From the driver's side appeared a stunning blonde haired woman in her mid-forties. Her green eyes glistened under the light of the sun as she looked up at the mansion before her. I instantly recognized her as Sandra, Sara's mother. It was like looking into the future and seeing Sara herself, stunning regardless of her age.
The door directly behind the driver's side opened as well, and out came a brunette beauty, approximately the same age as Sandra. She was tall and beautiful as well, even though you couldn't see her face that well since she was talking to Sara's mother. I had only met her a handful of times, but I instantly recognized the tall, slender stature anywhere. The only young woman who could pull off that figure with that light tan and luscious brown waves of hair was my forever enemy, Cicilia. But this woman was twice her age and had a gentle aura about her, unlike her daughter. She reminded me more of Anthonio than anything, and I couldn't help but smile down at Daniella as she went around to help Sara climb out of the passenger seat. Cicilia appeared beside her mother in a blink of an eye, helping the very much pregnant Sara who blushed at the many hands who reached out to help her
As if sensing my stare, the tall brunette spun around and look directly into my awaiting eyes. Cicilia stared, her face expressionless before a small smirk spread across her glossed hips. With a silent huff and a flip of her hair, she returned to helping Sara before they all made their way inside. Yup, the girl will never like me. But I can't really say I will ever change my opinion on her either
I released my hold on the curtain and let it fall back into place, the sound of a high pitched voice reaching my ears. Soft footfalls began to head towards Blake' room, and within seconds, I was greeted by a striking green eyed blonde who smiled brightly my way. She closed the gap between us and pulled me into a tight hug. I couldn't help but laugh as her bulging belly collided with my flat one.
Taking a step back, I smiled at Sara who wore a lively yellow dress that cascaded down her frame in waves. With a simple pair of white sandals, her look was completed with her hair being tied up behind in a bun
"Don't tell me you woke up not too long ago!" She exclaimed, taking in my appearance and darting her eyes to the bathroom
I shrugged, smiling sheepishly.
"It was a long day yesterday, with the flight and the party. I decided to sleep in this morning"
"And did my best friend forget the most important thing we had planned today?" She asked, her mouth gaping wide and a look of sadness overtaking her elegant features
My eyebrows furrowed together. What was this girl talking about
She gasped, her hand going over her forehead in a rather dramatic fashion. Within seconds, she was falling against the large king sized bed, choking back sobs.
"I can't....believe....you already....forgot," she said between sobs, peering up at me every few seconds to take in my reaction
I continued to stare at her, baffled. What in the world did she
My mouth gaped open as last night's events filled my mind.
"That was today?"
Sara sat up in one quick movement, even taking me by surprise at how fast this woman was moving with a bulging belly like hers.
"Of course! These babies can come in at any moment and I must have everything planned before they arrive!" She stood up and walked towards the closet as she called out, disappearing through the door,
"Now let's get your shoes, we're leaving now. My mom decided it'd be best to eat lunch rather than-" Her head popped out of the closet, her face scrunched up in disgust
"Who in the world organized this closet?"
"Take a guess," I said with a laugh, making my way towards her
Acknowledgement gleamed in her green orbs before she turned back to the closet, her hands on either side of her hips.
"No wonder that man still hasn't found his mate. Even the goddess wonders how in the world he was born as her child," Sara said with a shake of her head
"I think she keeps him around when she needs to be amused," I responded with a smile, walking around her and grabbing a pair of low-heeled boots. Removing my socks and placing on new ones for the occasion, I slipped on the boots and grabbed my bag that was already packed with my cellphone, wallet, and lip balm. "Shall we?"
Sara bounced in excitement before grabbing my hand and exiting out of the room. I nearly stumbled over her quick movement, causing Sara to shoot an apologetic glance my way. Clearly someone forgot she was tugging on a human and not a werewolf.
We made our ways downstairs and were greeted by a young group of women who I instantly recognized. The first face I noticed was that of Linda's, who instantly smiled before making her way towards me.
She wore a simple white floral dress that complimented her small form and womanly curves. She hugged me tightly, my heart aching a bit at her tender embrace. Her face flashed quickly in my mind before Linda releasing her hold brought me back to the present
"So glad you can join us today, dear," Linda said excitedly. She turned to Sandra and Daniella, her smile never once wavering.
"This here is Sandra, Sara's mother. I am sure you have met before when visiting Sara." I nodded and smiled in acknowledgement, in which she returned with a sweet smile and a bow of her head. Linda continued, motioning to the brown headed beauty standing beside Sandra.
"And this here is Daniella, Anthonio and Cicilia's mother."
Daniella stepped forward, a sincere smile spreading across her lips as she bowed respectfully my way.
"It is truly a pleasure to meet the future Luna once again. I apologize that we were not able to meet personally in the past, but I'm sure you had met my mate and son, Anthonio."
I nodded. "No worries Daniella, it is a pleasure to finally meet you. I thank you for allowing me to take part in this planning for your future grandchildren."
Daniella smiled brightly in my direction at the sound of 'grandchildren', but that radiant smile instantly vanished, a scowl taking its place as she turned to stare at her daughter. My gaze fell upon Cicilia, who had remained silent during this little exchange. Or so I thought.
