Fiona's POV

It was clear to me that Cicilia had indeed not been silent moments ago. A small smirk laced her lips as she gazed down at her manicured nails as if it was the most fascinating thing in the world. The sound of someone clearing up their throat brought all of our attention back to Sandra, who smiled down at me, though it seemed forced after the change of mood in the room

"Well, then. Shall we? I made reservations at Sara's favorite restaurant for 1:30 PM. We should get going before the hostess eats our throats for being late," she said with a soft chuckle.

Sara clapped her hands together, until her eyes filled with fear as the ghost of a memory entered her thoughts. I definitely needed to ask her about this little unwanted exchange between the hostess and my best friend. It must have been quite a story.

"Lead the way," Linda said, grabbing a small purse from the kitchen counter and following behind Sandra and Sara. Daniella followed close behind, shooting glares at her daughter before disappearing around the corner

I took a step forward to follow the other women until a tall brunette stopped me, blocking my path. Instead of being taken by surprise, I let out a frustrated groan and craned my neck to stare at her face. The piercing glare that she sent my way would have had me digging up my own grave had it been any other day, but I was beyond annoyed by Cicilia at this point. Instead, I mimicked her actions by crossing my arms over my chest and waiting patiently for what she had to say

"Don't mess this up for Sara, human. You've only been here for a day and nobody wants you here, don't forget that," she uttered through gritted teeth, low for no one beyond the wall to hear.

I chuckled, walking around and stopping right beside her, our arms mere inches from the other.

"And yet, I have an entourage outside waiting for me....for a mere human," I spat back at her, looking forward and walking out the door with my head held high. This was going to be an interesting lunch

We were all outside in a large table that easily held the six of us, seated underneath the shade of an ancient tree. I stared up at the long branches above our heads, smiling as the sun fought its way through with little success

Turning back to the ladies, I couldn't help but smile as they talked animatedly to one another.

To my left, Linda sat recalling a story of the 'good old days', as she called it, with Daniella directly beside her and Sandra following after. Sara sat beside her mother, transfixed in Linda's story with Cicilia sitting to her left, who fidgeted with her food and barely paying any attention to her Luna. And yes, if you guys haven't guessed it, I was stuck sitting beside Cicilia as well, which made me think that that was the reason why she had seemed uncomfortable all throughout lunch. She had barely spoken a word and made no intent in acknowledging my presence, which was perfectly fine with me. I really didn't feel like speaking to her to begin with

I looked at Linda, laughing happily at her story. She had told me many stories when I would spend time in the pack house, but they never seemed to end! Each one was better than the one prior and you couldn't help but wonder how much this woman had gone through in her early years. Regardless, I was always more than happy to hear what more she had in store

"Now," Daniella said, clapping her hands after Linda concluded her story with a breathy laugh.

"I believe it is time we continue planning this little baby shower, don't you think?" She asked, looking over at Sara who was finishing up her third plate of spaghetti

I laughed at Sara's expression at unexpectedly being placed in the center of attention once more. Despite her elegant appearance and radiance, she had little to no manners when eating at the table and currently had spaghetti hanging off the side of her lips. Sandra shook her head in disapproval and wiped her daughter's cheek, making sure to get every inch of marinera sauce off her

"Sorry," Sara muttered, a soft blush filling her cheeks before she straightened her back and clapped her hands together, mimicking Daniella.

"Alright, let's first get Fiona up to date with how the planning is going so far," she said, looking over at me with the familiar smile she always sent my way.

"Okay," she continued, moving her chair forward and bumping her belly against the table. Cicilia steadied it with ease before commencing back to her mindless fidgeting of her food. I noticed she had barely eaten today, but I decided not to comment, focusing my attention back to Sara

"So seeing as Anthonio is the next Beta and is quite popular, we have been planning on arranging the baby shower in our back yard. Anthonio and I moved into our new place earlier this year, so it would have been perfect!" I smiled brightly at that comment.

"But the guest list seems to be growing by the minute and our yard is not that big to hold so many people. So Anthonio and I have been looking over other venues that aren't too expensive and within budget. Sadly, we haven't exactly found the right place yet," she said sadly, pouting her lips like a small puppy

I laughed and leaned forward, moving my plate away. Cicilia seemed to jump at my sudden movement, and although she didn't bother looking my way, I could tell she was attentive of my every move. "How about we do it at the pack house? There's already plenty of space and we can easily plan for the venue and decorate as needed. The last thing you should be doing is stressing over this, Sara."

Cicilia stiffened beside me, but I paid it no mind. Looking over at Linda, I reached out and grabbed her hand, smiling up at her.

"Do you mind Linda? The last thing I want is for Sara to be overthinking the venue, especially with Anthonio preparing to take on the Beta duties. You and I could plan the venue together at home to get that off her plate. Would that be okay?"

Linda's smiled eagerly and nodded before looking at Sara.

"That is absolutely no problem! Why didn't we think about this earlier?"

"Because I didn't want to bother you with so many arrangements," Sara muttered sheepishly, twisting a lock of hair that had fallen out of her bun at some point

I waved my free hand in her direction, smiling reassuringly at her.

"Oh please, you're best friends with the future Luna, you can always use the pack house as you please," I said, winking in her direction

"Does that include me?"

I jumped at the sound of Marcus's voice coming from behind. I turned to see his blue eyes shining wickedly my way with a playful grin on his lips. I glared in his direction, remembering how he had so casually thrown my clothes in the closet with little to no remorse. As if hearing my train of thought, he winced and smiled sheepishly

"You're most definitely not included in that category," I said stubbornly and turning around.

The screeching of a chair being pulled beside me was heard, and I turned to my right to find that Marcus had settled himself between Cicilia and I with ease. He winked her way. She simply rolled her eyes and scooted herself farther away from him, colliding her elbow with Sara.b

Marcus reached over the table and grabbed a bread stick, munching on it like if he was invited to the party since the beginning. I leaned back and stared at him, what in the world was he even doing here?

"May I ask, what brings you here?" I asked sarcastically, quietly chuckling when he reached for the marinara sauce near Sara and she slapped his hand away with a growl

Marcus glared at Sara before turning to me, a knowing smile filling his features. "Take a wild guess"

Linda began to laugh quietly beside me and nodded her head in understanding. "Alphas will be Alphas," she murmured, taking a quick sip of her drink

Marcus rolled his eyes, settling in his seat.

"You're telling me. I saw Jackson out front," he said, pointing towards the restaurant where the parking lot was located on the other side. I turned to Linda questionably, remembering how Jackson was the current Luna's guardian....and that's where it all clicked

"You've got to be kidding me," I groaned, running a hand through my now dried locks. Did Blake really not trust me to be on my own anymore? I couldn't help but feel saddened at the thought....at the lack of trust. Then again, I wouldn't blame him for his trust in me to be severed so quickly
