Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 74
Blake's POV
I paced back and forth on the carpet as Anthonio and Marcus stared at me with worrisome eyes. It's been three hours since we had arrived and my wolf was beginning to become restless. It's been a while since I've actually sensed him. Ever since Fiona left, he has kept quiet, never once uttering a sound unless it was necessary. I had feared I had lost him forever due to her leaving, but when there was a rogue situation that had to be taken care of, he immediately stepped forward and allowed my body to shift into my wolf form. Only in those situations did he allow his presence to become known. Other than that, he would hide away at the back of mind, leaving me to fend for myself as I continued Alpha training.
But now we were here, merely a few miles away from the territory she was residing in and he had been continuously snapping at me ever since we got here. He could sense his mate was near, that I could tell, and he was not the only one. Her scent was light, mingled with other werewolves and humans living in the area, but it was most definitely there. The only thing that bothered me the most was having her be in another werewolf territory without my supervision. I didn't even know if she was aware of it, for that matter
"Could you stop pacing, man? You're creating a hole on the floor," Marcus complained as he sunk in deeper in the couch beside Anthonio who had not said a word since we had left the pack. Marcus wore a simple pair of jeans with a light blue cotton shirt underneath a black leather jacket and a pair of worn out boots. Anthonio wore a similar attire, except he wore a gray shirt underneath a brown sweater.
I stopped involuntarily, a low growl escaping my lips as I stared down at his slumped form in front of me. He immediately reacted to the sound, his eyes widening before muttering an apology under his breath
I ran a hand through my hair, probably messing it up even more than it already was at this point.
"Sorry Marcus," I said with a sigh, making my way over to the other couch across from them and taking a seat.
"It's just that my wolf can sense her, even with this great of a distance between us. If it were for him, he'd be running in there and taking her back home"
'That's not a bad idea,' he said quietly in my mind
"Yeah, I know. But we need to be patient. We are residing in a city you know, meaning there are more humans here than there are back home," Marcus explained, straightening his posture and locking eyes with my own.
"If we were to go in there in our wolf forms, we'd be facing angry werewolves for trespassing, as well as humans who would probably be freaking out from seeing three over-sized wolves strolling about in town."
"Since when did you become the brainiac?" Anthonio joked, smiling slightly as he stared at him from the corner of his eye
"Haha, very funny," Marcus said with a frown, punching Anthonio's shoulder before getting back in a comfortable position.
"As I was saying, we need to think this through. This pack may not have that many members, but I'm pretty sure they have some patrolling the area at night. They might be able to detect us immediately."
"That's if they haven't already," Anthonio muttered, running a hand through his light brown hair
The motel room fell silent as we all listened in on our surroundings. The sound of several people making their way around the building reached our ears as well as the sound of cars racing down the busy street nearby. Muffled voices were heard, but we rarely paid attention to them as we allowed our sensitive hearing to expand in distance, nearly reaching the outskirts of the territory. It was nearly dark and there wasn't the sound of heavy foot falls colliding onto the ground yet, if there were any
'We're wasting time,' he growled in the back of mind
'If we go now, we may never reach her,' I reasoned, but he was too much of a stubborn dog to listen
'If we stay here waiting another second longer, there is no doubt we will run into one of them. If we leave now, we'll cross their borders without interruption. By the time they sense us, we would be on our way with our mate.
Okay, so he may be stubborn, but he definitely had a point there. That's the reason why we werewolves did not like establishing our packs amongst too many humans and in an urban setting. It did not allow us to shift as we pleased and there were too many chances the humans would discover our existence. Packs in the eastern side of the United States were very rare, especially in a city like this. Why did this pack decide to reside here? I have not a single clue. But their territory being in a place like this can actually give us an advantage
I looked up at my friends who were both staring down at the rug before them with harsh eyes, deep in thought. They sat there, un-moving, waiting patiently for my next move like they have done so a lot lately. Despite them being my best friends for as long as I could remember and always having my back, our training to become the next Alpha, Beta, and third in command of our pack made us a bit more serious about life in general. I even have to admit that Marcus seemed to have matured greatly. He's still a kid at heart, that's for sure, but he is still the same annoying Marcus we all know and love underneath his serious exterior.
In one swift movement, I stood up, catching their attention instantly as they mimicked my movements. Their bodies stiffened as they anticipated my next words, their eyes staring intently my way. I looked out the window, noticing the sun had completely disappeared beyond the horizon and only darkness remained. Streetlights provided the little amount of light for its residents, but for a werewolf, that was highly unnecessary
"Alright, we're going in," I said simply, making my way towards the door as they followed me in stride
"Yes! Finally!" Marcus exclaimed from behind me, making me roll my eyes at his enthusiasm.
"Now we're talking. Time to fight some wolves"
"We're not fighting, Marcus. We're simply taking what is rightfully ours," I muttered, her beautiful face filling my every thought as we descended down the stairs and onto the main lobby.
"Fine. But a guy can dream, can't he?" Marcus said with a shrug and a twinkle in his eye. Yup, still the same Marcus.
"It's, best no fight occurs," Anthonio said, stepping beside me as we exited out of the building and onto the street.
"The sooner we get out of here, the better. I don't want to leave my mate on her own for too long"
"She has Cicilia there to protect her, remember?" Marcus said, adjusting his jacket as a cool breeze brushed past us. It was evident the temperature was changing and we could all sense it, but I paid it no mind despite only wearing a simple black shirt with a pair of dark jeans and my usual mountain boots
Anthonio snorted, shaking his head as a small smile played on his lips.
"Since when does Cicilia even care about Sara? The only reason why she's nice to her is because she's my mate"
"Of all people to be your sibling. And twin to be exact," Marcus said with a shudder. After messing around with her for so long, even he discovered how annoying of a girl she could be.
"Guys, let's focus at the task at hand," I said sternly, immediately making them grow silent and be on high alert
I tilted my head upward, taking in a deep breath and instantly catching the scent of a werewolf nearby. My head snapped in the direction of the smell and a young man immediately stepped out of the shadows with an ominous look on his face. He wore nothing but a pair of gray sweatpants and a white short sleeved shirt. His hair was a mess on top of his head, the streetlight shining above him revealing his dark brown hair and light green eyes. He wasn't that well built, but one can instantly tell that he could defend himself easily if a fight were to ever occur. And by the looks of it, he was obviously a rogue An evil smile crept along the length of his lips, his green eyes looking wild as he stared at us. He took a few steps forward before my wolf's growl stopped him in his tracks. His eyes widened in fear as I fully faced him, baring my teeth as he took a hesitant step backward
"I wouldn't mess with him if I were you," Marcus warned, crossing his arms over his chest as a crooked smile spread across his lips.
"You never want to mess with an Alpha wolf"
