Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 43
Fiona's POV
My fast beating heart thundered against my chest as I dashed into the cabin, locking the door tightly behind me. The malicious growls echoed through the wooden walls, making me wince as I found the will to make my legs move despite them shaking uncontrollably beneath me. I was still dripping wet from the brief swim earlier, but the puddles I was leaving behind as I ascended the stairs were the least of my worries at the moment
The second I entered my room, I locked that door as well and sat beside my bed near the window. Crouching down in a sitting position, I tried my best to ignore the gurgling sounds and painful howls that filled the forest air. I could only pray to whatever god that existed that Blake, as well as my dad and the others, would be okay. From what I saw as I barely escaped that rogue that went to attack me, I knew Blake didn't stand a chance against them. Then again, the major difference between his wolf's physique and their own was something that would definitely not go unnoticed. One can sense the Alpha power radiate off of him in waves, which explains why the other rogues seemed to hesitate on their attack.
A loud scratching sound snapped me from my thoughts, immediately making my body react as I grabbed the closest weapon I could find (which was actually my curling iron that laid beneath the bed). I slowly stood up, grabbing the spare towel that was hanging on the foot of the bed and wrapped it securely around my small, and now shaking, form. I made my way towards the window with the curling iron held tightly in my hand and high above my head, readying myself for any attack that might come my way
The scratching noise continued, and it seemed to get closer and closer towards the window. Leaning against the window frame, I peered down at the ground, my eyes widening as I noticed what was the cause of the sound
Merely a few feet below me was a ragged gray wolf clawing its way up the wall with menacing eyes that seemed determined to reach me. Our eyes locked and I could've sworn I saw it snicker before continuing its way up the house. Gripping the iron tightly in my hand, I prepared myself, waiting for the attack to happen. But it never did
Instead, a large black wolf with white hair splattered across its dark fur escaped the forest's trees and lunged at the gray wolf below me. It snapped its large canines around its neck, ripping its head clean off. I winced at the sight as I saw the head roll around the ground below and the body fall with a loud thud a few feet away from where the head now laid idly on the grass.
I looked down at the black wolf, immediately recognizing that it was Alpha Westley who nodded in my direction letting out a loud howl that made me instinctively cover my ears. The second his howl subsided, many large wolves emerged from the trees and went straight towards the front of the house where I knew most of the rogues were now standing. A large brown wolf, similar to Blake and his dad's size, stood beside him and sent him a nod. It seemed to me that this was the Alpha of the current pack we were in and both of their eyes landed on me. I noticed the brown wolf's eyes analyze me before bowing respectfully in my direction. Without hesitation, I bowed in return, showing my respect for this mysterious Alpha. Without another word, the two wolves ran towards the scene on the other side of the house with loud snarls thundering into the air
The second they left, I was not able to see any other rogues in the backyard. Letting out a sigh of relief, I placed the curling iron back on the dresser before something inside made me look back out the window. What I saw made my skin run cold
My eyes met hazel brown ones that were all too familiar in my memories. A pair of eyes that now seemed to haunt the innermost parts of my subconscious mind along with the voice that accompanied them. My body shivered despite my body now being completely dry and standing in the warm room. My hands were as cold as ice, but they still managed to hold the towel securely around me.
A sly smile laced Maxwell's features as his eyes turned a darker shade. He bit his bottom lip as I noticed his chest tremble, no doubt a low growl caused by his wolf who seemed to have surfaced. My eyes desperately searched for someone to come to my aid and discover him there, but I had no such luck. The only person I could see now was the one man who had caused me to fear for not only my own life, but my mate's as well.
Before I could call out and hope someone could hear me despite of the growls that came from the front yard, Maxwell bowed his head mockingly, his eyes never tearing away from my own before he sent a kiss in my direction. My body shuddered at the simple gesture and I couldn't have been more happier to see him shift into his wolf form and disappear into the dark trees. It was then that I noticed that he had been completely naked when he was standing there. The mere thought made me shudder in disgust as well as fear. The look in his eyes and the twist in his sinister smile made me fear for what the future may hold. But my thoughts were brought to an abrupt stop at the sound of someone fidgeting to open my bedroom door.
I spun around and inched my way towards the corner farthest away from the door. I knew deep down in my heart that the person standing on the other side of my door was not my mate, especially because of the frustrated growls and how much the doorknob twisted and turned to pry it open. Maxwell would've just asked me to open the door myself, but this stranger was not going to do so anytime soon
Suddenly, the door smashed open, completely coming off its hinges and falling to the floor in front of my bed. I screamed at the sudden impact, immediately covering my mouth with my free hand as I stared at the intruder. It was clear to me that he was a rogue by the dirt and filth that lingered across his slender, yet muscular, frame. He had light brown hair that would seem blonde under the sunlight with bright blue eyes that were wild as he stared at me. He smiled in my direction, revealing his extended canines as he took in my appearance. His eyes lingered across my frame as he licked his lips hungrily. The second his eyes snapped to mine, I immediately noticed the sudden change in them which made me bury my body even further into the corner
"So this is the famous human mate everyone is talking about," he said in a rather raspy voice before he chuckled, leaning his body against the door frame that now had several cracks in it.
"I can see why they are though."
I tilted my head in bewilderment which only caused him to chuckle even louder than before. He took a step forward, avoiding the fallen door with ease as he made his way towards me. I looked around the room, desperately trying to find a way out of here without having to go near him, but I came up with no solution
A sinister grin spread across his thin lips, his tongue licking them once more as he took in a deep breath.
"There's no where to run, little Luna. And here I am, sent to kill you when I got the chance." He paused, taking another deep breath as a growl thundered across his chest, his eyes turning a darker shade that nearly resembled a cloudless night. "But you're too good to kill without having some fun first."
My body trembled at his words as I wished that a hole could swallow me whole and hide me away from this disgusting rogue that now stood only a mere three feet in front of me. As he inched closer, his eyes continuously lingered across my body, his eyes a pitch black color as the low growls began to heighten in tone
"Now, I wonder what could be lying beneath that white towel you're covering yourself with," he said slowly as he reached out a hand. His hand was mere inches from mine, but he never once got the chance to come any closer
"I guess you'll have to die wondering, pup," a venomous voice spoke from the bedroom door.
Both the rogue and I immediately turned to the door and my heart skipped a beat. Not because of the fact that I was more frightened than I already was, but because my eyes landed on the most handsome creature I have ever seen. Blake now stood with only a pair of shorts around his waist. His eyes were pitch black and if looks could kill, the rogue standing in front of me would've been lying on the floor, lifeless.
"Oh really? Wanna bet?" The rogue challenged, but I noticed the small amount of hesitation flicker in his eyes as he stared at the now menacing Blake throwing daggers his way
A loud growl erupted from deep within Blake's chest, making the rogue take a hesitant step back and his eyes widen with uncertainty
"I would choose my words carefully when talking to an Alpha, pup. Especially an angry one after seeing a pathetic rogue like you mere inches from their mate," he growled with gritted teeth, taking a step towards the rogue
The rogue began to search the room, his eyes turning back to their original shade as his chest heaved up and down in a rapid motion
"There's no where to run little rogue," I said quietly, repeating his words from earlier. His eyes snapped to mine and he instantly glared down at me. I could see his jaw tense, but I still held his gaze confidently as I straightened my stance from against the wall. I had absolutely no idea where this newfound confidence came from, but I was going to hold onto it for as long as I could.
"She might be a human, but she was chosen to be Luna for a reason," Blake's voice echoed across the room. It was then that I noticed that he had silently made his way to the rogue and was now pinning him up against the wall in a choke hold. The rogue clawed at Blake's hand, but he didn't seem affected by it. I, on the other hand, immediately felt the sting on my own and cringed at the pain. I tightened my grip on the towel and bit my bottom lip to fight the scream that threatened to escape. Blake's eyes immediately met my own and another thunderous growl escaped from his chest.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you for making my mate feel pain."
His grip tightened and I could see the rogue's face turn a light shade of blue from the lack of oxygen entering his lungs. Despite his inability to breathe properly, he never once tore his gaze away from Blake.
"I never once hurt your Luna.
"But you deliberately attacked. That's a good enough reason.
Suddenly, Alpha Westley and his beta entered the room with the same attire as Blake. I was shocked to find their bodies so toned despite of their age. But then again, all werewolves seemed to have god-like bodies.
Alpha Westley stepped forward and placed a cautious hand on Blake's shoulder, making him immediately look into his dad's eyes. His dad motioned with his head in my direction and Blake immediately followed suit. His eyes locked with mine and I immediately saw them soften, even if his deadly grip didn't do so whatsoever. After a few moments, he let out a heavy sigh and released his hold, having the rogue drop onto the floor gasping for air.
Westley stepped over him with ease and immediately took me in his arms, taking deep breaths as he pulled me closer. He tenderly kissed my injured arm, a cooling sensation coursing through my veins immediately before letting go. I wrapped my arms around his bare waist and felt his body relax against my touch. I buried my face against his chest, letting out a sigh of relief as I listened in on the Alpha's discussion with the Beta
"What should we do, Alpha?" His beta asked as I noticed him step over the rogue with anger flashing in his eyes
"The best thing to do is to kill him," Alpha Westley said, until I saw him tilt his head in question.
"But I think it's best not to."
At the sound of his father's words, Blake released me a fraction of an inch, his arm still wrapped securely around my waist as he turned to his dad with a snarl.
"He is a rogue and he deserves to die for what he has caused."
"Yes, you're right son. But think of it this way. He is the only survivor of this large rogue attack in history. Wouldn't it be wise to have him stay alive," he paused, looking down at the rogue who was glaring up at him before he growled lowly,
"for now, and answer a few questions?"
The room remained silent until the sound of heavy footsteps emerged through the bedroom door. All eyes turned to a mysterious man who never once acknowledged our presence but instead glared down at the rogue. It was then that I noticed the resemblance between the brown wolf from earlier and this man. He had a strong and powerful physique with bland brown hair and brown eyes to match. Without even saying a word, I instantly felt the power radiate off of him, making me turn away and bury myself deeper into Blake's hold
"Westley is right. We have never had such a large rogue attack like this one in our history. Especially one whose target was your future Luna." I felt Blake's hold tighten at the Alpha's words.
"It shall be best to interrogate him until he reveals who was the one who planned this attack."
"What makes you say I wasn't the one behind all of this?" The rogue retorted, his heavy glare never once dwindling as he stared at the powerful men before him.
The Alpha smirked, shaking his head as he stepped around Blake's dad and crouched down in front of the rogue. "You don't have the brains to plan it all, pup."
The rogue growled and was about to launch at him before his beta grabbed onto his shoulders and slammed his chest harshly against the wall near the door. He grabbed both of his arms and pinned them against his back, flashing his sharp teeth at the disrespecting wolf in front of him.
"I'd watch my mouth if I were you," he snarled against his ear before turning to look at Alpha Westley in the eye.
"What should we do with him?"
"Take him outside where Jonathan and warriors will be waiting for him. We'll take care of the rogue," the other Alpha responded and his Beta immediately obliged with a nod of his head before exiting the room with the young man in his grip.
