Fiona's POV

The room grew silent before I felt all eyes on me. I began to fidget against Blake, despite the calming sensation that erupted inside under his touch.

"So this here is the next Luna of the Black Forest Pack. I see why she is," the Alpha said with a bright smile on his face. The once menacing Alpha was now washed away as he looked at me. He took a step forward and extended out his hand, bowing slightly as he said,

"I am Alpha Benson. Alpha of the Red Mountains Pack."

"So this here is the next Luna of the Black Forest Pack. I see why she is," the Alpha said with a bright smile on his face. The once menacing Alpha was now washed away as he looked at me. He took a step forward and extended out his hand, bowing slightly as he said,

I stared down at his large hand in front of me, feeling a bit uneasy. This was the first time I have ever met another Alpha from a pack that wasn't my own. So this whole new experience was overwhelming for me, but I still found myself extending my own hand and grabbing his

"Nice to meet you, Alpha Benson. I'm Fiona Christopher." I was even surprised at how bravely I introduced myself to this stranger

He smiled brightly and nodded in acknowledgement.

"She'll make a fine Luna. You have an excellent mate, Blake".

I turned to see Blake nod before his eyes held mine. Within them I saw a swarm of pride and love that immediately made me blush. Amazing, I could confidently introduce myself to other people who turned out to be large and powerful beasts, but when it came to my mate, I would grow weak in the knees. How nice. But that is when a thought occurred to me that made me look at Blake's dad

"Is my dad okay?"

"What did you tell him that made him let you leave?" I couldn't help but allow my curiosity take over

He nodded with a small smile.

"Luke stayed with him while Jonathan and I came here to help. He is perfectly fine."

"We told him the Luna made a horrible stew last night and that we had the runs," Jonathan said as he re-entered the room. "Just don't tell Lucy we told him that.

I couldn't help but laugh at his amusement. I definitely could see where Anthonio's character came from. They weren't as high spirited as Marcus and his dad seemed to be, but it was still comforting nonetheless

"Well, I think it'd be best we clean out the evidence before your father gets back," Alpha Westley said with a stern smile on his lips. It seemed to me that he wasn't looking forward to cleaning out bloodied corpses that now took over the lawn. His eyes met Blake's as he said quietly,

"Stay with Fiona."

Blake simply nodded as the other men exited the room, leaving my mate and I alone. The mere thought brought the usual butterflies in my stomach to take flight. I quickly looked away and released my hold on Blake and sat on the bed, wrapping the towel tighter around my small form. He followed suit and sat in front of me, his eyes staring down at me as if waiting for something to happen

I tried my best to avoid his heavy gaze until I began to feel rather uncomfortable. Growing irritated, my eyes snapped to his.

"What?*

I raised my eyebrow at him.

"I'm supposed to be freaking out right now?*

He shrugged his shoulders, his eyes never leaving mine.

"I'm just waiting for the whole freak out session people tend to have. Well, are supposed to have."

He nodded.

"Yeah, pretty much. My father and the other Alpha, as well as I, were waiting for it. But you're handling it pretty well.

I pursed my lips as I stared down at my bed spread."

"Does that make me a weirdo or something to react to all of this so calmly?" If I was supposed to be freaking out when I clearly wasn't, does that make me a little insane? Am I missing a few screws or something?

Blake chuckled in amusement before scooping me up in his arms and placing me on his lap in one swift motion.

"No, sweetheart. That just shows how strong of a Luna you'll be one day," he said as he planted a small kiss on my forehead.

I nodded, still not understanding what everyone seemed to continuously talk about as I buried my face against his neck, receiving a tender growl from Blake. I smiled against him as I began to trace my fingers along his chest, feeling small tingles against my fingertips as I did so. I felt him shudder beneath my touch and another growl thunder against his chest as his hold on me tightened

"Why must you tease me so much?"

I shrugged, my smile broadening before I pulled away and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Isn't it my job to do so?"

A small smirk played on his lips as he leaned his forehead against mine.

"It most definitely is, my love."

With that, his lips collided with mine and the next thing I knew, I was now lying on the bed with his large frame hovering above my own. The towel that once concealed my nearly naked body now lied beneath me, failing to cover my body like it was supposed to. I was about to grab it and cover myself once more before I felt two strong hands grab onto my own and practically pin them above my head. I gasped at the action and stared at the pitch black eyes that now looked down at me. His eyes grazed along my body, a small growl vibrating throughout his own before his eyes locked with mine once more

A blush spread across my cheeks and I couldn't help but smile up at him.

"Then show me."

"You have no idea how appetizing you look right now," he said in a rather husky voice.

His eyes widened in shock and they turned back to their original shade of brown. I guess I shocked not only Blake but his wolf as well. I even surprised myself with those words. His mouth opened and closed several times before a set of giggles erupted inside of me. I realized then that his hold on my hands had loosened and I was able to break free with ease. I reached out and pulled him close, teasing him by brushing my lips against his. His body immediately stiffened above me and I couldn't help but allow the wide smirk to spread across my lips at his reaction

"Mark me, Blake."

With those words, I pulled back and exposed my bare neck up at him, brushing my hair away so it wouldn't cover the spot where I somehow knew the mark should be. I had discovered that whenever Blake's wolf would take over and would be close to the surface, he would always graze his canines on my left side between my shoulder and neck. I didn't understand before until I realized that there was indeed a vein that connected to one's heart in that spot, which completely explained why a werewolf would mark his or her mate there.

I closed my eyes and waited for his teeth to mark my skin, officially making me his. I had no idea what I should be doing while he did so, but my body easily ignored my train of thought and patiently waited for the moment to come. I knew I wasn't ready for the whole mating thing, but Blake and his wolf marking me was something I suddenly found myself ready for him to do. I had no idea where this sudden assurance had come from, but I wasn't going to fight the instinct that seemed to take over whenever I was with him.

With my eyes still closed shut, I felt the bed dip as well as his hot breath brush against my skin, making me shiver in pleasure. His lips brushed against my skin, the usual sparks igniting between us as the air thickened, making it hard to breathe. We were now breathing heavily, anticipating the connection that was soon to come. Even though I couldn't see his eyes, I somehow felt his wolf rising to the surface, preparing himself to finally mark his mate

He planted a long kiss on the small portion of my skin where his mark was meant to stay for the rest of my life, but the excruciating pain never came.

I opened my eyes and stared out the window, refusing to move and cover my revealed neck for him to take.

"What are you waiting for?

He shook his head, resting it against the crook of my neck and letting out a deep sigh.

"I can't mark you, Fiona."

A sudden wave of rejection washed over me, making me instantaneously push him away and stand up in the same process. I could feel the tears threatening to escape, but I didn't allow it. If he was rejecting me, I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of showing him how badly it hurt with those mere words

I leaned against the window frame and peered down at the wolves that now stood in the backyard. They seemed to be talking amongst themselves and weren't aware of me staring down at them. I guess it was better that they didn't. I didn't feel like having many wolves bowing in my direction after they realized I was a pack's future Luna. Well, if it were to ever happen that is. I wasn't so sure now

"Fiona, you know I didn't mean it like that"

I could hear him step up behind me, but I easily ignored it.

"I know what you meant, Blake." Unfortunately for me, my voice failed me and cracked with every word that escaped my now quivering lips. I was trying so hard not to cry, but I knew the tears were soon to come

"No you don't," he said quietly as his strong arms wrapped themselves around my waist, pulling me against his bare chest. I hated how my body immediately responded to his touch despite how badly I wanted to stay away from him.

"It's okay. I know you don't want to mark me. Who would want to mark a human?" I asked, closing my eyes and fighting the tears the best way I could

"My wolf and I."

My eyes immediately snapped open and I turned my head to gaze into his dark eyes.

"What?" I asked, ignoring the tear that now escaped my left eye

He lifted up his hand and brushed it away before kissing my cheek tenderly. "My wolf and I would love to mark you, Fiona. You are our mate and it is instinct, as well as fate, for us to mark what is rightfully ours. But we know you are not ready."

I shook my head, resting it back against the window frame.

"That's what you don't know, Blake. I am ready." I could feel him shake his head behind me.

"No you're not. I may not have known you for a long time, but I know you well enough to know that you're not. You may think you are, but that is because your body is responding to us just like a werewolf's would. You may be a human, but you're still a werewolf's mate. Your body and mind respond to us like a mate's should, so being this close to us makes you believe you want us to mark you, when you clearly don't." He paused, leaning his chin against my left shoulder as he took in a deep breath.

"I know this is too much for you to handle, sweetheart. You never once knew this world existed a few weeks ago, and now you're living in it. You're not only a werewolf's mate, but you're a soon to be Alpha's, immediately making you the future Luna of a pack. I see it in your eyes, Fiona. You're scared. You feel like you're not good enough for my pack, but you are. I know you don't see it now, but I hope to the goddess you will in the next few years to come before you take your rightful place in my pack. Our pack.

I felt him pull away before he stepped around me and stood in front where I could see him fully. Wrapping one arm around my waist and pulling me against him once more, he placed a tender hand under my chin, preventing me to look anywhere else but into his eyes.

"I love you, Fiona Christopher. And my wolf and I want nothing more than to make you ours and fully mate you. We fell in love with you the second our eyes landed on you that very first day. We wanted to make you ours right then and there, but we knew we had to be patient. And I want you to know this Fiona, we will wait for as long as we need to before we can mark you. You are our mate and we will do anything to help you feel as comfortable as you wish to be. Even if that means waiting for another few years for you to officially be ours.

I could feel the tears threatening to escape at his words, and they weren't tears of sadness this time. I felt my heart clench and I suddenly found myself reaching my hands around his neck and pulling him in until our lips were flushed against one another. Without hesitation, he immediately reacted, wrapping both arms around my waist and closing any small distance that still lied between us.

I relished this moment, feeling something deep down in my heart that made me feel like I may not have enough time to be with the man I loved. I had absolutely no clue where this thought and sensation came from, but I pushed it aside as I gave that kiss my all. Ignoring everything that surrounded us, I opened my heart, soul, and mind to him, feeling something strange as I did so. For the first time since I had met him, I felt as if we were one and that nothing could ever tear us apart, no matter how hard anyone tried to do so

Suddenly, I felt his hold loosen reluctantly as he pulled away, immediately breaking our kiss. We were now breathing heavily, but that didn't stop the pout that now laced my lips. He smiled down at me, brushing his fingertip across my lower lip before giving me a quick kiss

"I think I better get to fixing that door before your father gets home."

I turned and looked at the fallen door on the floor, a frown now spreading across my lips. I nodded without a word as I watched my mate make his way over to it, picking it up in his hands with ease. It still amazed me how strong a werewolf's strength can truly be, and the way his muscles flexed as he picked it up did not go unnoticedI immediately felt my cheeks heat up, making me turn away before he could notice that I was checking him out. I turned to look out the window, noticing that many of the wolves were making their way through the trees and probably heading back home. Without noticing, my eyes turned to the very spot where I last saw Maxwell. My stomach clenched uneasily at the thought, and there was something in the back of my mind telling me that that was most definitely not going to be the last time I saw him.
