Fiona's POV

My body froze on instinct as I tilted my head to the side, my hair falling over my face as I struggled to distinguish the voices. They were muffled, the door (if there was any) completely blocking out any audible noise to enter where I was now being kept. The harder I tried to listen, the more difficult the task seemed to be. Predicting that whomever was outside was merely a few feet away from the entrance of where I was held, I continued on my mission to grasp onto whatever metal object was now lying close to me. With all the strength that was left in my body, I pulled the object closer until it was directly below my feet where I didn't need to stretch them out whatsoever. With my bare toes hovering over it, I tried my best to see what it was until I recognized its form beneath my touch. It was a key!

I had no idea if this object would be the key (no pun intended) to my escape, but I had little to no time to figure out if it was indeed the key to the chains that now bounded me to this spot because I could hear faint footsteps making their way towards me. Without hesitation, I quickly pulled the key under me, letting out a soft cry of pain as I struggled to pull myself upward. The chains burned against my skin as I grasped onto them, pulling myself up until I was positive that the key was now directly beneath my body. Hearing a slight turn of a knob in front of me, I quickly sat down, flinching as the metal scraped along my wrists at the movement

Suddenly, a stream of light casted an eminent glow over the room, making me involuntarily close my eyes at the sudden brightness. Turning my head away from the door, I could hear a faint chuckle until I was suddenly back in the darkness I was previously in

I could hear some sort of movement in front of me, causing me to open my eyes and try to see through the darkness. The soft rasping of dirt beneath someone's weight filled my ears until I noticed a match be lit before it made its way towards something. It wasn't until a second later that I noticed what the match was lighting was in fact a small candle that allowed me to see who was in the room with me. The sight caused me to gasp. His eyes shined under the little light that now casted a small glow in the room. Despite him being near the candle, his face took on an ominous tone, shadows casting across the side of his face where the light did not shine so easily. A small smile played on his lips before he disappeared into a dark corner of the room, lighting yet another candle. He proceeded in doing these actions another four times before six candles were shining brightly around the room, one directly behind me. That one was the last one that was lit before I felt heavy breathing on the nape of my neck, causing me to shiver and move away the best that I could, earning another chuckle from the man now standing behind me

"So glad you finally woke up, Luna," he whispered, taking a deep breath before making his way around me.

"I was beginning to worry that you weren't."

As he made his way around, I couldn't help but glare at the smirk that was playing on his lips. His eyes were their usual shade, but I had no doubt in my mind that they will reside to a darker tone soon.

"How long was I asleep?" I asked through gritted teeth, the previous events of today flashing through my mind as I spoke those words

He leaned against the wall to my right, his hand raising in front of him before it landed on his chin, as if in deep thought. It was then that I realized that the entire room was covered in dirt. Were we in some sort of cave or something? But it couldn't be. There was a large metal door right in front of me that was no doubt thick enough to keep any sound from escaping when closed. Where the heck has Maxwell taken me

"I'd say about a few hours. I guess that stuff really had more of an effect on you than I thought. I do apologize for that," he said, his eyes landing back on me as he crossed his arms over his bare chest. As I stared into the eyes of this monster, I could very well tell that there was no sympathy in them. There was indeed an emotion I could not decipher, but I had only one intention at the moment. And that was to make it out of here alive

"You're not sorry," I said, looking down and feeling the key beneath me as I adjusted my seating on the muddy ground.

"Where are we?" I asked, peering through the bits of hair that now dangled in front of my face, concealing my expression from him

He let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head as he moved away from the wall. He stared down at the ground as he made his way towards me. He stopped, a small smile playing at his lips as he crouched down in front of me, reaching out a hand and removing the hair that still covered my face. I immediately flinched at his touch, but he paid it no mind as he proceeded to tucking the strands of hair behind my ear.

"There's no need to worry about that, love. You're with me now."

My eyebrows pulled together as I leaned back, leaving his hand hovering in front of me as I said,

"You kidnapped me. I have every right to know where I am. Where you're holding me hostage."

He pouted his lips, tilting his head as his expression took on a hurt one. I wasn't buying it.

"What makes you think that I am holding you hostage?" Without uttering a word, I moved my hands that hung above me, causing another rattling noise to erupt in the small room. A surge of pain rumbled through my arms at the movement, but I never once showed it on my nonchalant expression. I wasn't going to give him the benefit of seeing me suffer. I knew very well that he was highly aware of how tight the chains were bound around my wrists, but he never once bothered to mention it.

"Oh, that," he said, his expression taking one of boredom.

"That is just to keep you in place."I raised my eyebrow at him.

"What? Afraid I would run or put up a fight once I woke up?"

He smirked, standing upright and taking a step away from me

"Now that would've been highly amusing to see actually. But it's not like you would've had a chance anyway."

"You don't know me," I muttered, glaring down at the ground and placing myself in a position where my body wasn't exactly weighing down on my arm nor causing more pain than necessary.

Without once looking up at him, I felt him make his way around before crouching down behind me. He leaned his head against my left shoulder, making me wince but I continued to hold my nonchalant composure. His hands wrapped themselves around my waist, pulling me up against him. I let out a soft gasp as I felt his lips graze along the side of my neck before planting a kiss. I shuddered in disgust, trying my best to pull away but his strong hold kept me in place.

"I know there's a reason why you were chosen to be my brother's mate, love." He paused, leaning in and inhaling my scent as he nuzzled his nose in my hair.

"It's such a shame he hasn't marked you. But we can fix that soon."

My body stiffened at his words as I felt his hands begin to caress my body. He slowly made his way up my torso, his hands hovering below my breasts before making their way down to my hips. His hands remained there for a while before leaning forward and to caressing my thighs. He was slow, yet gentle, but I couldn't help the surge of disgust that erupted inside me under his touch. He had no right to be touching me this way and if Blake was to be here right now seeing this, I had no doubt in my mind that he would rip Maxwell to shreds, despite him being his brother. The mere thought of my mate saddened me. What if he never found me? Was he even looking for me? Did he know I was missing? What if I were to never see him again? As those questions filled my mind, I barely even noticed where Maxwell's hands were traveling until I felt it.

His hands squeezed my butt, making me jump and avert my attention back to the man who had caused me so much fear in such a short period of time. His hands lingered there, going lower and lower until I felt them stop. With another squeeze that had me jumping one more time, he pulled back the second my bottom collided with the floor. I turned around with a curious expression until I noticed exactly what was in his hand

"Sneaky little girl. I was wondering where this went," he said with a sinister smile plastered on his lips as he stood up in one swift movement. He waved the key around before tucking it into his pocket

I cursed myself inwardly before blurting out,

"Why are you doing this?" It wasn't a question I had intended on asking, but anything to stall some time for Blake to find me was something I was willing to do

My question caught him by surprise and I could see his eyes shift into a pitch black color before turning back to their original hazel brown. His jaw tensed as did his hands on either side of him. Clenching and un-clenching his fists, I saw his chest rise and fall quickly as if he was trying to calm himself down. Seconds passed before his voice echoed around the small room

I shook my head slowly, not comprehending his words.

"No, I don't."

"Love, you know that I must do this."

"Of course you do, Selena. If those humans hadn't killed you, I would've been made the rightful Alpha and you would've been my Luna."

My mouth slowly dropped open as I interpreted his words, one of them standing out the most.

"Selena?"

His eyes met mine and I could see a slight pained look in them before they turned a darker shade, removing any form of emotion within their dark depths. "My mate. You look just like her."

My heart picked up speed as I tried to calm myself down.

"I-I do?" I stuttered, cringing back as his eyes turned a complete shade of black before me

"Yes. And because of your kind, I never got to experience a life with her. I was never given the chance to prove myself as Alpha." He paused, letting out a loud growl as he began to pace back and forth in front of me.

"Because of my loss, my father did not hesitate to strip me of my rightful title. Instead of waiting for me to find an alternative mate, which is something I wouldn't have minded to do since I never got to actually meet my true mate until the day of her death, he simply renounced my title and handed it to my little brother. Your mate," he hissed, his eyes turning back to me.

"Without even a single consideration, my brother took the title and began his Alpha training. The entire pack acted like I had never existed and gave all the glory to him. Even my own parents never once acknowledged my existence after my eighteenth birthday. I would've been Alpha by now had it not been for those human hunters killing her!"

The air was dense, making it difficult to breathe as I stared wide eyed at the man in front of me.

"But….what does all of that have to do with me?"
