Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 48
Blake's POV
***Hey dad
Just wanted to say that I'll be going to Sara's house for the weekend and not to wait out on me. I'll be perfectly fine
Oh, and one more thing, don't open that envelope. That's specifically for Blake to read if he were to ever come over
Lot's of love
Fiona***
Without a second look, I placed the letter beside the envelope before grabbing it in my hands. I tore it open, not caring if I was ruining it before allowing it to fall on the floor with the letter still inside my hands. My grip tightened as I read his words
You're running out of time, little brother
It was then that my wolf pushed himself to the surface and let out a loud growl that thundered throughout the house. From the corner of my eye, I saw Mr. Christopher take a hesitant step back with fear in his eyes. I crumbled the letter in my hands and threw it in the nearby trashcan before making my way out of the office and out the door.
I took long strides, not allowing for him to follow as I made my way to the trees. I could hear him calling my name, but my wolf was now in control and I could feel my body shake with anger as I fought the urge to shift right then and there and track down that coward who had the guts to take my mate
Ignoring her father's frantic calls, we made our way deeper into the woods until we knew it was safe to shift. Without removing the shorts, he shifted into our wolf form mid stride before taking off into the night. Menacing growls vibrated through our body as he ran faster than I had ever seen him before. He avoided each tree with ease, missing them by mere inches before dodging in another direction without a single thought. Every now and then he would slow down his pace and sniff the air, barely catching his scent before following it. I could tell we were near the border of our territory on the Western side and in mere minutes we would be crossing it. I could sense the presence of some of the pack members who were currently patrolling the border before I pushed my wolf aside and took over, stopping his fast pace within seconds. I could feel him snapping at me, fighting for control of our body. I growled at him, silencing his snarls as I felt him calm himself ever so mildly in the back of my mind
'We have to go get her. NOW.' He growled, pacing back and forth in my mind
'I know you're worried, as am I. But we can't just go into a fight without knowing what we're up against.'
'I'm more than worried, Blake. He has just pissed me off more than anyone has ever done before by taking our mate. I don't care if he's your brother, I will not hesitate to slit his throat and watch as the life fades from his eyes.'
I rolled my eyes heavenward, pacing back and forth in the same rhythm he was currently doing and sensing that the other wolves had finally caught my scent and were coming to a halt. I could feel their voices trying to press through the barrier I had put up, but I never once let it come down as I focused on him. 'I'm with you on that one. But we have to inform the pack. She may be our mate, but this is our pack's future Luna.
I could feel him stop before nodding. 'Fine. But do it quick. We're wasting precious time.'
Without another thought, I turned around and made my way towards the pack house, ignoring how the pack members seemed to continuously try to communicate with me. My wolf and I were pissed off enough as it was, and I don't think they would want to face a pissed off Alpha anytime soon. Seeming to sense my irritation, I could sense the tugging quiet down some before it faded completely the second I stepped onto the patio and shifted back into my human form. I could smell my mother and father in the kitchen as well as Anthonio and Marcus, so I didn't bother to change into the spare clothes that were lying outside the back door and made my way inside.
All eyes immediately met my own as I closed the door behind me. Their conversation had subsided and they were all staring at me cautiously as they took in my form. I knew my eyes were now a pitch black hue and they knew very well not to mess with a werewolf when their eyes are that shade. Especially an Alpha wolf.
My mother was the first one to step forward, her steps slow and cautious as she reached out a hand and placed it gently on my shoulder. The sensation calmed me some, but it wasn't enough to put me at ease like Fiona's touch would
"What's wrong, dear?" My mother asked, her light eyes filled with worry as she stared up at me. I couldn't help but growl as I took in the resemblance Maxwell had to my mother. Unlike me who had the spinning image of my father, my brother took in on my mother's features. We looked nothing alike when standing beside one another. I was a lot taller and bigger in built despite being the youngest one by four years
My mother took a step back at the sound of my growl and my father came to stand in front of her in a protective stance. His eyes narrowed as he stared at me. "What's wrong?" He asked slowly
"It's Fiona," I said through gritted teeth, trying hard to calm down my fast beating heart as well as my wolf who was now pacing impatiently inside me
"What happened? Is she alright?" My mother asked, taking a step around my father to stand beside him
Right then and there, Sara entered the room and her eyes widened as she took in my appearance.
"Are you okay? Why aren't you with
Fiona right now?"
"I should be asking you the same thing," I said slowly, feeling my wolf rise to the surface and take a step forward without my permission.
"You should've been with her. It was your duty to protect your next Luna and because of your carelessness she is no where to be found! My wolf was about to lunge at her until I felt a pair of arms grab onto me and pin me against the nearest wall. I took in heavy breaths as my eyes stared down at my best friend. Anthonio held a strong grip against me, but he knew he would be no match for me, especially when my wolf was near the surface and he could clearly sense that.
"You have no right to threaten my mate in that matter," he growled at me, receiving a thunderous growl from my wolf in return. I saw him cringe at the sound, but he stood his ground and pushed me harder against the wall. "Calm down," he said slowly.
I looked up to see Marcus take a cautious step towards us, his blue eyes guarded as he stared intently at me. I knew very well that he was preparing himself in case I was to lose control. He was right in doing so because my wolf did not like the way Anthonio was currently holding onto us, restraining my wolf from taking care of the task at hand.
"I would watch your actions if I were you," I said slowly, my voice low and filled with warning as I watched him loosen his hold. It was then that I realized that he had had me, not only pinned against the wall, but hovering a few inches in the air. I was surprised by his strength but there was a very good reason why I had chosen him to become my Beta.
He still held a firm grip on me for a few seconds before releasing me and making his way towards his mate who was now crying beside the island. He pulled her in close and whispered a few tender words into her ear that seemed to calm her down immediately. My wolf howled inside, wishing our mate was here this very second so we can be doing the same thing for her. Making sure that his mate was now in a better state, he turned to me, never releasing Sara from his hold, before asking,
"What happened to Fiona?"
"Maxwell," I said in one breath, the mere sound of my brother's name angering my wolf more than he already was.
The room grew quiet as they all stared at me with wide eyes, especially my parents. I knew that they were wishing that their first born son wasn't the one behind my mate's disappearance right now, but they knew very well that I would never lie to them of such a thing. Especially when it came to the safety of my mate.
"Maxwell? But why would he want to kidnap Fiona?" Marcus asked, leaning against the island in front of Sara and Anthonio with troubled eyes.
"I don't know. But we've got to find her."
"Are you sure it was Maxwell, sweetie? It could've been any rogue-" my mother pleaded before I cut her off.
"It was him! His scent was all over the house, especially in the office where he left a letter. He kidnapped my mate and he is going to pay for his actions." I was making my way towards the door, allowing my wolf to take over until I felt a strong hand stop me. I spun around and growled at my father who was staring at me with sad eyes. My body relaxed under his hurt filled gaze, but my wolf was still urging me to leave and find our mate before it was too late. With that thought, I was praying to the goddess that Fiona was alright and out of harm's way. If that bastard had the nerve to touch a single hair on our mate's head, it will be the end of him.
"Calm down, son. We'll figure this out. You just have to be patient and we'll be on our way to find-"
"We can't just sit here and wait a second longer," I said, ripping his arm off and taking a step away from him.
"Every second we waste talking is another second that she could be closer to….who knows what!" My wolf whined with the mere thought of having someone take our mate away from us. In more than just kidnapping.
"I understand, son, but you have to think things through. You can't just go and attack without planning. You have to be patient and plan things out before taking action."
I took a step forward, meeting him dead in the eyes as I asked,
"Would you wait if it was your mate in danger?"
My father simply stared at me, his eyes distant as if deep in thought before I heard the heavy foot falls of large paws outside the pack house. I turned around, seeing many of our pack members standing outside with determined expressions on their faces. I turned back to my father who had a small smile on his lips before nodding.
"We're wasting time."
I smiled weakly, looking over his shoulders and noticing Anthonio and Marcus taking off their attire and leaving themselves bare. Sara gave Anthonio a quick kiss on the lips as my mother did the same to my father. I waited as patiently as I could before I felt a large, excruciating pain on the left side of my torso which automatically made me cry out in pain. My hand instinctively went over where I had last felt the pain and I stared down at my skin, a large wound forming before my eyes. Everyone, including the wolves outside, had grown still as they stared at me. I traced my fingers around the wound, which was a few inches wide as well as it was deep before it began to slowly heal itself. It was a lot slower than the last wounds that had ever healed on me due to its depth. The second it was nearly gone, only a small scar left in its place, I looked up at my parents who were staring at me with sad, yet cautious eyes.
I stood there, frozen, trying to comprehend what had just happened until I heard footsteps come towards me and open the back porch door. I looked to my right and noticed Anthonio and Marcus standing outside, already in their wolf forms. Anthonio's light brown wolf stared at me with worried eyes before looking down at my torso. After a few seconds of inspecting my now healed wound, he turned to look at Sara who had a few tears streaming down her face and her hands covering her mouth as she, too, stared at my scar. It was then that it all clicked.
Immediately following my train of thought, my wolf harshly pushed forward and resurfaced, letting out a thunderous growl that had been louder than any werewolf had ever caused. I was thankful for Anthonio and Marcus leaving the back door open because, if not, my wolf would have shattered the windows as he shifted in his wolf form and took off into the forest, avoiding any pack member that stood in his way. Not like if there were any because they all knew better than to stand in front of an angry wolf. Especially one whose mate had just been injured. Just the mere thought of Maxwell sending god's knows what into Fiona's side and causing her so much pain made my wolf let out another menacing growl as he picked up speed and made his way through the thick forest trees.
I could hear a few wolves easily keeping stride with me, and I knew very well who they were. To my right, I could see another pitch black wolf that resembled my own running alongside me with a determined look. Beside my father was a light brown wolf as well as a gray one. Seeming to mimic their father's positions, Anthonio and Marcus ran alongside me, easily matching my wolf's speed with little to not the rest of the pack warriors followed behind, letting out battle howls as they made their way through the trees. My wolf sniffed the air, growling lowly as he immediately recognized Maxwell's scent along with a few unfamiliar ones. He turned his head towards my father, who seemed to have caught the same scent as he let out a small whimper before shaking his head and carrying on, never once breaking the formation the high positioned wolves were currently in. I knew it pained him to see which route his eldest son had taken, but it was his choice to take this path. One that I knew he would immediately regret once we found him.
I felt another pain course through me as a freshly made wound emerged on the side of my neck, just below my right ear. It wasn't as deep as the other but it still made my wolf howl with pain and slow down in pace. With a shake of his head, he recovered quickly and pushed on, surging past my father and friends and running faster than he had ever done before. The others were trying their best to keep up, with little success, but that never stopped him from carrying on.
We ran for what seemed to me like forever until Maxwell's scent, as well as many unfamiliar ones that easily resembled that of the Earth, hit me. The sound of voices as well as heavy paws walking around at least about a mile in front of us filled the air, pulling us all forward to save our rightful Luna from their grasp.
I heard Anthonio and Marcus pick up their speed and match my own. Anthonio stayed to my left while Marcus made his way around me from behind and ran to my right. Giving me a single nod, they let out loud howls as my wolf growled at the sight of the nearest rogue.
'Shall we?' My wolf taunted in my head, making me grin as the thirst for blood erupted inside of me.
