Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 35
Fiona's POV
My eyes widened in shock at the last part. Wait, what did she mean by near future? And pups? I didn't want to give birth to any dogs any time soon. Oh, who am I kidding, they'll be born in their human form but with the ability of shifting into wolves after a certain age. What was that age? I have no idea. But having Lucy speak so openly that way made me nervous. She was probably expecting me to have kids right then and there. I wasn't ready to live that life yet. I was just growing accustomed to this one right now. Even if I did wanted to be with Blake and to start a family with him, I didn't want it now. I had other plans and having kids, or pups like she called them, wasn't in my agenda any time soon.
Blake must have sensed my anxiety because I felt him squeeze my waist gently before glaring down at his mom. "She's not ready for that."
"What are you talking about? She should know that she must give birth to the future heirs of this pack."
"But she's still getting used to it all. You can't expect her to find out about the werewolf world and then have pups the very next day. She's still young and has her whole life ahead of her."
Lucy crossed her arms in front of her, her once hazel brown eyes turning a darker shade as she stared up at Blake with a scowl on her lips.
"Well that's her duty as future Luna, Blake. I had you boys at a very young age and it has always been this way in our pack's traditions."
"But she is only human! She never even knew our world existed until now. You can't force her to do something she doesn't want to do."
Suddenly, all eyes were on me. I could feel all of the pack's eyes bore onto my back as I stood weakly beside Blake whose arm was wrapped securely around my waist. If a hole was to appear on the ground at this very moment, I would gladly step inside it and allow it to swallow me up completely. I can't believe Blake had just said that. I mean, he was right in some way, but the way he said it made it seem like if I didn't even want to be a part of their life. In all honesty, I did. I felt right at home here and I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with my mate. But I just wasn't ready to start it immediately. I wasn't ready to get marked. I wasn't ready to mate. I most definitely wasn't ready to have children or run an entire pack. I know I would always have Blake standing right beside me, but it was just too much to take in all at once! They had to understand that. I wasn't raised learning their customs and knowing exactly what a Luna's duties were. I never wanted this life; but now that I had it, I had to do everything I needed to protect this pack and help it remain its strong status in the world. But on my own time, though. On my own accord.
Jumping right in instead of testing the water wasn't something I was used to
My stomach began to feel queasy, despite not have eaten anything at home or since I had arrived here at the pack house. My breathing came out harshly and I could feel the whole room spinning before me under their heavy gazes. I knew I was overreacting, but I was never good under this sort of pressure. Accidentally procrastinating and leaving an entire science project for the day before it was due was something I could easily handle without hesitation. Even if it meant not sleeping the entire night until it was finished and perfect. But having an entire pack of werewolves boring their eyes into your very soul and possibly rethinking the idea of having a human as their future Luna was a whole other matter
Luckily for me, I felt a soft hand wrap around my free arm that wasn't against Blake's side and pull me away from him. I hated the sudden coldness that took over my body the second our contact was diminished, but being around him and his parents wasn't something I wanted to deal with at this very moment
Allowing Sara to lead me out of the living room, I let my head hung loosely in front of me as I barely kept up with her fast pace. I knew she was just trying to get me out of there, alive, as fast as she could, but I wasn't one who could walk easily in heels. My lack of agility didn't help at this very moment, even though I had somehow made it to the kitchen safely without crashing my face against the wooden floors. With one swift movement, Sara stopped and carried me in her arms before placing me on one of the stools in front of the small granite island. Man this girl was strong. The kitchen was beautiful, like the rest of the house that I had seen, but I didn't bother to take in the scenery because my head was still spinning.
I could feel a loud pulsing pain spread through my brain and I instantly massaged my head, trying to ease it the best way that I could.
I heard the stool beside me scrape across the floor and knew that Sara was now sitting beside me. I seriously owed this girl my life. She had saved me, I don't know how many times, when I needed someone the most. So having her here at my side was something I highly appreciated from her
"Thanks," I muttered, never once looking away from the granite counter-top in front of me
From the corner of my eye, I saw her shrug and a small smile play on her lips. "I knew you needed some saving. So call me your savior, if you must.
I couldn't help but laugh. I lifted up my head and smiled at the beautiful girl in front of me. She was wearing a light green strapless dress that matched her bright green eyes perfectly with silver high heeled shoes and silver jewelry to match. Her hair was clipped up awkwardly behind her head, but it made her look that much more beautiful. I had to admit, I was a tad bit jealous of her. But overlooking her natural beauty, I was simply grateful to have her here now
"Blake wants to make sure you're okay," she said simply, her eyes practically asking me for permission
I shook my head, despite the feeling my body gave off by just the sound of his name. My body craved for his touch, but I just needed some time alone to think. "No, tell him that I'll meet up with him later. I just need to be alone right now.
She simply nodded, her eyes looking distant for a second before they refocused on my shaking form. She laid a hand on my shoulder soothingly, giving me a reassuring smile.
"It's going to be okay, Fiona" .
I let out a soft sigh as I rested my elbows on the spotless counter-top and laid my head between my hands.
"They hate me now, don't they?"
"No, Fiona, they don't hate you. They could never hate you. You're their future Luna. They were thrilled to finally meet you tonight."
"But now they think I don't want to be anymore."
"They don't think that. They understand how you're just getting used to things. The one who doesn't seem to is our current Luna. She's always been the eager type, wanting things to get done immediately without question. So meeting her future daughter-in-law made her jump to conclusions, completely forgetting the fact that you're only human and recently adjusting to our customs." With a frustrated sigh, I stood up slowly and stepped away from her, glad that the dizziness I had felt earlier had finally subsided.
"But you didn't see the look on their faces. They looked so….disappointed and angry at the same time. They really think that I'm just giving up on them when I'm not. I just need time."
"And you'll be given the time," Sara said, standing up as well and placing two hands on either side of my arms.
"It's just still a little bit of a shock to everyone that a werewolf was granted a human mate by their goddess. An Alpha werewolf to be exact. But they love you already, I saw that in their eyes. And besides, Blake will never rush you to do anything that you don't want to. I know it's hard for him not to mark you, especially for his wolf, but he's willing to wait for as long as he needs to.
I nodded, taking in her words before I began to feel claustrophobic inside the kitchen, despite its large size.
"I think I need some air."
She nodded with a small apologetic smile on her glossy lips.
"Okay. Just call me if you need me."
"Okay." She was about to turn and leave until I grabbed her arm and pulled her into a tight hug. Her body stiffened for a moment before I felt it relax against my grasp. She wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me in return.
"Thanks, Sara. You have no idea how much you have done for me in such a short period of time."
She untangled herself from my hold and sent me a bright smile.
"What are friends for?"
With that, she spun around and exited out of the kitchen, leaving me completely alone. The second she left, my body craved for Blake's hold, but I pushed the thought away and exited through the doubled doors that led to the backyard. Fortunately for me, they were located in an area where the living room could not be seen. I knew most of the pack will be in there and some outside as well, but I was relieved to find the patio empty. Absentmindedly, I allowed my feet to carry me forward without paying much attention to where I was going. The next thing I knew, I was standing in the middle of a set of trees and I was completely and utterly alone. I turned around to see if I could spot the house from where I stood, but it was physically impossible to do so with all the trees standing in my line of sight. Letting out a soft sigh, I started my way back to the house until the sound of a twig snapping beneath someone's heavy weight made me stop on my heels.
I looked around furiously, feeling my heartbeat increase tenfold as I tried to locate any movement in the darkness. It was impossible for me to do so since the moon was covered behind a heavy set of clouds and the forest was hidden beneath a blanket of darkness. Without hesitation, I began to make my way back to the house, increasing my speed with every step I took. I stumbled a few times due to the height of my heels, but I still managed. From where I stood now, I was able to see a stream of light that escaped the mansion's large windows on each floor. With a sigh of relief, I hurried to get back to the safety of my mate's arms until I felt a strong hand stop me.
I turned around and tugged as hard as I could, but it was no use. I was no match for the stranger that was holding me tightly in their grasp. I opened my mouth to scream out in protest, knowing for a fact that someone was bound to hear me from this short distance, but a hand immediately covered my mouth, preventing any sound from escaping my lips.
I thrashed about in my kidnapper's arms until I felt a hot breath brush against my skin, causing me to shudder in fear.
"Shh, I just want to talk."
My eyebrows rose upward in question at the sound of the person's voice. I didn't recognize it whatsoever, so who in the world could it be? It was low and raspy, barely audible to my ears
"Do you promise not to scream once I let you go?"
I simply nodded, afraid that if I were to scream and run for my life, it'll be the death of me
The stranger stood there for a few seconds, probably contemplating on whether I was being honest or simply telling him yes so when he was to let me go, I would just scream at the top of my lungs. But he must have noticed that I was telling the truth, which I sincerely was, so he released me slowly, taking a step back as I turned around to face him. My eyes widened in astonishment as I took in who the person was. He had light brown hair which seemed a lot darker than usual in the night with hazel brown eyes. He was simply wearing a pair of shorts that I had recognized from a couple of weeks ago and he was completely shirtless, his skin glistening under the moon's rays which had somehow peeked through the clouds, allowing me to see him clearly despite of my horrible eyesight compared to his
