Fiona's POV

Seeming to notice my change in mood, Marcus bumped his shoulder against mine, sending me a reassuring smile. "Don't take it the wrong way, Fiona. He gave me this position so I could protect you and he only wants to keep you safe. Sadly, you're an easy target," Marcus said with a sad smile.

"Clearly," Cicilia muttered, bringing the table's attention back to her. She seemed to wince before straightening up and looking at all of us.

"Anyway, back to the baby shower planning. Now that Fiona so graciously offered the pack house as the venue," she said with a sneer, sending me a sideways glance before looking over at Sara,

"Now we must continue the planning for the decorations!"

She reached over her chair and pulled out a binder that seemed to contain all of their prior plans. Flipping through the pages with her delicate hand, she settled on some designs that contained both shades of blue and pink. Her hand caressed the pink designs quite fondly, a small smile playing at her lips before focusing on her attention back to Sara

"We have yet to see what the genders of the babies are, so we have to design it with both colors, just to be safe. Though, I'm sure they're both girls," she said playfully, her tone completely different to how she always spoke to me. But that tone quickly changed back to the one I came to know at my next words

"Or they can both be boys, you never know." Cicilia glared in my direction, but I looked past her and smiled at Sara

"Or even better, it could be a boy and a girl. It sounds so exciting!"

"Babies sure do sound like a handful. And two to be exact," Marcus said with wide eyes, concentrating hard on the table design before him

"I don't want to see how your future babies are like," I said with a laugh, which earned me a glare from him in return

"Anyway," Cicilia spoke fiercely, glaring at Marcus and I before looking down at the book,

"I know of the perfect place that can provide us with the designs. I can arrange an appointment for tomorrow with the personal designer. She is truly the greatest around the area and I am sure you will not be disappointed!"

Sara smiled at Cicilia before looking at me

"Do you mind coming with us, Fiona? Our moms will be busy with other things, but I would love to have you there."

"Fiona will be busy, won't you?" Cicilia shot back before I could even answer. She stared at me with eyes that seemed to want to control my every thought, but I forced it down with a glare of my own. My expression must have caught her off guard because she seemed to lean back in her chair, causing a chuckle to escape Marcus's lips. I glanced over at him. He seemed rather amused by our little exchange, his eyes set solely on me

"Of course not. I'll be more than happy to tag along with you. As your best friend and future Luna, it is my duty to foresee that this is all planned perfectly," I said, with a little more confidence in my tone than I would have anticipated. I wasn't the only one who was caught off guard by my words, and I couldn't help but notice how Daniella and Sandra smiled and bowed their heads slightly. But Cicilia, on the other hand, didn't seem to be having any of this

"And as the future aunt of these two bundles of joy, it is my duty to make sure that my brother's children's baby shower is as perfect as can be. Besides, you are still not Luna, so this is not your duty whatsoever. You will not be needed," she said nonchalantly, admiring her nails once more and brushing a hand through her short locks.

I raised my eyebrow at her, nearly laughing at her pursed lips. She may be beautiful and I may never compare to her, but no way will she be keeping me out of this process that was near and dear to Sara. I owed her that much after 2 years of being away and leaving without an explanation

"If you are the one planning this event, I believe I will very much be needed for tomorrow," I said bitterly, my eyes never wavering as she met mine

"If you think-" Cicilia started, but my next words immediately silenced her condescending tone

"I am going to help plan this event from now on and that is final"

Cicilia stared at me in shock as a silence fell over the table. I began to fidget under their heavy gazes, but my eyes never left Cicilia's frozen form. I turned and grabbed my glass of water, taking a long sip as I realized that my mouth was suddenly dry from the little exchange. Glancing over at Marcus once more, I couldn't help but smile at his expression. He was clearly amused and highly entertained, but more importantly, I could see a hint of how proud he was at how I handled the situation with ease

I could feel my cheeks burn a scarlet red, but never once did I allow my confidence to falter. Seeing Cicilia in that state of shock always made my heart jump with happiness, even if I continuously shocked myself in these moments

The small smile plastered on my lips never once fell as I entered the pack house, bowing in return at the other pack members as they exited the home. Leaving Linda behind as she disappeared around the corner, Marcus following her close behind as I made my way up the stairs and to Blake' room. Today was....definitely not what I expected it to be, but it went a lot better than I hoped it would. That was certainly something I was not complaining about

Swinging the door open wide, I let out a joyful sigh that instantly turned into a loud gasp. Looking over at the bed, the last person I anticipated to be lying down at this time was none other than my mate. Blake instantly looked up, his eyes meeting mine where they contained a hidden emotion I couldn't distinguish. My eyes traced his towering frame until I noticed a small picture held tightly in his large hands.

Noticing my stare, he cleared his throat, bringing my attention back to his dark obsidian eyes as he casually put away the photo.

"Well, you look like you enjoyed yourself today," he said with a small smile, his voice cracking

I tilted my head in question, attentive at his every movement as he positioned himself on the bed until he was leaning against the headboard, looking at me expectantly.

"I did," I said slowly, making my way towards him and placing my purse against the dresser to my left.

"Is everything alright, Blake?"

He shrugged, avoiding my gaze.

"Yeah, just a bit tired from doing patrols and a bit of training. Nothing too serious." He paused, looking down at his hands.

"So how's the baby shower planning coming along? Is Cicilia giving you a hard time?"

I laughed, startling him as today's events filled my mind.

"Everything's going well actually," I said, positioning myself to sit in front of him. "And Cicilia....let's just say I can handle her." I smiled triumphantly which earned me a small chuckle from him. The mere sound made my heart skip a beat, but never once did my smile falter

"So I was told," Blake said softly, flinching slightly from my harsh glare at the sound of his words

"About that, you didn't have to ask Marcus to tag along with us, you know," I said, crossing my arms over my chest with a frown

He let out a soft sigh, his shoulders slumping forward.

"He's your guardian, Fiona. It's his duty to make sure the Luna is safe from harm's way."

"I was perfectly fine. I was surrounded by very capable werewolves to protect me," I said, remembering the rather strong waiter who I instantly recognized from the night before

"I know that," he said patiently, leaning forward.

"But you never know what may happen when I'm not with you." I opened my mouth to protest, but his next words silenced me.

"And besides, it brings my wolf and I a bit of ease knowing you're safe and sound. It's already hard enough as it is being away from you."
