Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 124
Fiona's POV
Peering over his shoulder, it seemed as if the wind had suddenly picked up and it wasn't going to calm down any time soon. Wait, where did he get the umbrella
"Looks like we have to pay a visit to Sara before we get you home," he said in a bored tone
I raised my eyebrow at him, grabbing my coat by the door and shuffling it on. The temperature was slowly dropping as the weeks went by.
"Why is that?"
"Last minute baby shower details," he said with a shrug
I smiled as I buttoned up my jacket and grabbed the umbrella from his extended hand.
"We do have a few more details to go over, especially with it happening this Saturday. I'm sure Cicilia is thrilled to have me around to help make those decisions.
My smiled brightened at the thought of Cicilia despising the idea of me helping out her sister-in-law for her future nephews/nieces. The enjoyment I always felt whenever I came over Sara's home and saw the look on her face always had me returning
"No time to waste," I said as I opened the door and the umbrella at the same time
As we made it back to Marcus's jeep, I noticed that he didn't even bother shielding himself from the rain. Even when I tried to cover him with my umbrella, he only stepped away from me with a small smile and pushed me towards the car. Strange man, I tell you
Shuffling the now wet coat off me and placing the soaked umbrella by the door, Marcus and I made our way inside Sara's small home that she and Anthonio bought themselves after high school. How they managed to have saved enough money was beyond me, but with Sara's mom being a Realtor and all, I wasn't exactly surprised. With no time to settle myself in their home, I was greeted by a loud shriek and a bulging belly that seemed to have gotten bigger since the last time I saw it. How was that even possible
Careful to not hurt the unborn babies, I wrapped my arms around Sara who was jumping jubilantly in place. How this girl had enough energy to plan out a baby shower while bearing twins inside her was beyond me. She was a ray of sunshine despite the weather outside, and I couldn't help but to smile at her bubbly energy
"Thank heavens you came! I thought you guys were going to come earlier," she said, grabbing my hand and leading me into their small living room
"You can thank someone for that," Marcus said as he followed us close behind and shook his head, causing droplets of water to scatter everywhere. It was bad timing on his part because Cicilia so happened to be exiting the kitchen and was instantly caught in the middle of it
"Ew! Can you please do that elsewhere? No one wants a wet dog in the house," she said bitterly as she dried herself off with her bare hands.
Marcus merely grinned, enjoying her annoyance.
"I wonder why they let you in in the first place, then."
I bit my bottom lip as I stifled a laugh at her expression. If looks could kill, poor Marcus would have died at the young age of 20. It was nearly impossible to imagine how Marcus would chase after her back in high school. After realizing she was a lost cause in his eyes, he backed away and avoided her at all costs like the rest of them. To say it was a stab at her ego would be an understatement. Cicilia was probably the most gorgeous and strongest female in the pack, so having the third in command reject her as well caused people to start rumors about her. Everyone knew that Marcus was a womanizer and how all the men groveled at Cicilia's feet, including him long ago. But to see this sudden change in Marcus's was definitely a shock to everyone. And let's just say that Cicilia still held a grudge against him and if she had it her way, she would have clawed his eyes out within seconds
Rolling her eyes, she ran a slender hand through her hair and made her way to the couches. Instead of sitting on them, she sat on the carpeted floor and began to rummage through the many design ideas that now laid on the coffee table before her. Following suit, Sara sat behind her on the couch to get a better view while I sat across from them on the floor. Unlike us who settled ourselves in the living room, Marcus disappeared into the kitchen within seconds
With a frown, Sara called out to him, "Anthonio's going to kill you if you eat the last few Oreo cookies, you know.
"Too late!" he responded, his mouth seeming to be filled with the very food Sara told him not to eat
Mimicking Cicilia's earlier actions, Sara adjusted herself on the couch so that she was now lying on her side, but still had a good view everything.
"Now, where were?" she asked mindfully, casting her green eyes at the table before her.
Cicilia's demeanor seemed to shift as she suddenly had a bright smile on her plump lips. Turning to the side slightly, she lifted a sheet of paper that I couldn't see well as she spoke,
"We just confirmed the seating arrangements for everyone." Sara nodded, her face a bit grim as she grabbed the sheet and glanced over it
"Seating arrangements?" I asked, arching an eyebrow
Cicilia's smile fell as she slowly turned towards me. From the corner of my eye, I noticed Marcus exit the kitchen with a can of soda in his hand. He sat down beside me, popping it open and taking a long sip. Clearly he did not want to miss another confrontation between her and I, I just noticed that Cicilia is trying to reconcile and apologize for everything she has said and done to me, but I know it was be fine one day.
