Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 95
Fiona's POV
I bit my bottom lip nervously, my leg twitching furiously as I looked out the window, watching the trees pass by as Anthonio descended down the dirt road at a high speed. I could practically feel my heart trying to fight its way out of my chest by how fast it was beating and I wouldn't be surprised if the guys were easily able to hear it with their sensitive ears. And even if they did, I was thankful neither of them made any comment about it
It had been a long time since I've been back here and the nerves were really starting to get to me ever since the plane landed nearly 20 minutes ago. The airport was barely crowded with people so it was easy to maneuver around with little to no interruptions, much to my dismay. I had been silently praying that something will interfere, anything to prolong the time from me having to see the familiar faces of those whom I've grown to love. It's not that I didn't want to see them. Heck, I missed them incredibly and always fought the urge to contact them in fear that they may not even want to talk to me to begin with. Who knows how they'll react after I arrive to the pack house? Instead of taking me back to my dad's house (who was completely oblivious to my arrival back to Black Forest) where I had insisted I'd stay for the time being, Blake wouldn't have any of it. Trust me when I say it's practically pointless to argue with an Alpha wolf when he has his mind set solely on one thing; and that one thing was to get me back home safely and keep me in close proximity of him. Can't really blame him though
I ran a nervous hand through my hair, probably disheveling it more than it already was as my leg started jumping apprehensively without my knowledge. I suddenly could feel a pair of eyes staring intently in my direction, making my heart quicken in pace and my breathing come out in heavy pants
I jumped at his mere touch as his arm wrapped itself securely around my waist and closing the small distance that was left between us. I looked over at Blake who was now sitting in the middle seat as he planted a kiss on my forehead. My eyes raked over his towering form beside me and frowned.
"You're not wearing a seat belt," I said conversationally, my mind distracted for a brief moment
He shrugged his shoulder and leaned his head back on the head rest.
"Trust me, don't need it sweetheart," he said with a small grin on his lips
I rolled my eyes.
"Be careful. Wouldn't want your big ego to increase more in size," I said sarcastically
By instinct, I instantly moved away from his hand around my waist when he went to tickle my side, making me press myself harder against him. I let out a small giggle as I rested my head against his chest, letting out a soft sigh as I felt my body relax against him. It was times like these that made me wonder how in the world I had survived without him for so long. Without his touch.
It immediately made me think of the dream I had a little over a month ago. I shivered at the memory, closing my eyes shut and ridding my mind of any trace.
I felt Blake's body tense before he placed two fingers beneath my chin, pulling them upward until my eyes leveled with his own. His dark eyes were filled with concern as he stared deeply into my hazel orbs
"Everything is going to be alright," he whispered quietly, his voice even
I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath before letting it out slowly.
"It's been so long"
He nodded, leaning his forehead against mine.
"There's nothing to worry about you know"
"How do you know?" I asked warily, opening my eyes to meet his
A small, reassuring smile spread across his lips as he reached out and pulled a strand of hair behind my ear, making me involuntarily shiver beneath his touch. "Because they miss you just as much as I did."
My eyes widened at his words, my mouth opening to question him until the feeling of the car coming to a slow stop beneath us made me avert my eyes. I looked around, analyzing our surroundings until I looked up at the tall, grand building (or should I say house) standing before me. My jaw instantly dropped open, not for the beautiful sight in front of me since I had grown used to this massive house the Black's, as well as the rest of the pack, resided in, but because of the amount of cars parked in front of the property.
Wait, why were there so many of them
I didn't get the chance to count as Anthonio drove leisurely around the path beside the house and parked the car idly inside the garage. I immediately recognized Blake's car, which hadn't changed much since the last time I'd seen it, before the sound of small murmurs reached my ears
I looked forward and caught Anthonio and Marcus staring at each other with anxious expressions. Heck, they even looked guilty for some reason. Turning to the side, I found Blake's face practically matching their own
"What's going on?" I asked cautiously, turning around and trying to get a better view of the outside, but Anthonio closed the garage door with a flick of a button, obscuring anything from my line of sight
Blake removed his arm from around my waist and began to scratch the back of his neck, a habit I have come to realize he always did whenever he was nervous about something.
Especially when said something had to do with me.
I unbuckled my seat belt and crossed my arms over my chest, angling my body so I could get a better view of all three men from where I was sitting.
"What's going on?" I repeated, my voice stern
They all stayed silent for quite some time before Marcus turned around, his eyes looking everywhere but me as he said in a low voice,
"The pack may or may not be waiting for you….inside….the house"
My jaw dropped open at his words, my eyes flying to their faces one at a time before landing on Blake who was now staring at me with an unreadable expression.
"The pack? Are you kidding me?" I ran both hands through my hair, tugging at the roots as I slowly began to hyperventilate.
"Why didn't you guys tell me?" I specifically said-
"Fiona, relax," Blake said carefully, placing both hands on my shoulders to steady me. I hadn't realized I was thrashing about in my seat until then. He took in a steady breath before speaking. "We know you wanted a quiet welcome, but we had to alert my father about your arrival. And he may have accidentally told my mother about it and-"
"She wanted to throw you a welcome back party. So….welcome back!" Marcus said enthusiastically, even though I was throwing him daggers at this point
Anthonio turned around then and placed a comforting hand on my knee.
"Don't worry about it, Fiona. The pack really missed you and they were thrilled to hear the news about you coming home. They couldn't wait to see you. Yeah, Mrs. Black might have gone a little overboard on this whole party thing-"
"A little?" Marcus snorted, shaking his head with a small smile
Anthonio sent him a glare before turning back to me.
"But that's just because she's excited to have you back. Heck, we all are, really. And besides, you'll have Blake right beside you the entire night," he promised with a small smile
I gnawed on my lower lip, staring at the floor thoughtfully before nodding slowly, giving them the best smile I could muster at this point. Marcus immediately grinned and slapped his hands together energetically before opening the passenger door and stepping out of the car. Anthonio gave me another encouraging smile before doing the same. I stared at them both as they entered through the door that led to the side of the house. Peeking over their shoulders as they went, I immediately noticed a couple of people craning their necks to catch a glimpse of me. I immediately averted my gaze, pulling my hair behind my ears as I began to hyperventilate all over again.
