Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 39

Fiona's POV

I pursed my lips, thinking his words over. No matter how scared I was of being marked by the man I loved, I did want him to. So badly. But he did have a point there. I don't think my dad would be too pleased if he saw a bite mark embedded on my skin the very next morning. There will no doubt be endless questions about how I got it and who had done it to me. Saying that my mate, who so happens to be a werewolf, did this to me isn't really the best explanation at the moment

Letting out a soft sigh, I nodded, looking deeply into his eyes. I smiled weakly, my cheeks blushing as I remembered what had happened only seconds before. "You're right. It can wait." There was a pang of disappointment in my voice and it did not go unnoticed

Reaching out, he swooped me in his arms and placed me on his lap. I instinctively placed my head against the crook of his neck, taking in a deep breath. I felt him do the same and his body immediately relaxed against my own

"Please don't think I don't want you, beautiful. If you only knew how much you mean to my wolf and I.

A smile spread across my lips and I simply nodded, burying my head further against him and relishing the sensation his skin. The once warm sensation that ran through me from the close proximity of our bodies shattered as I opened my eyes. My body was overwhelmed with coldness as I searched for my mate who was now standing near the window with troubled eyes. His eyes met my own and I could instantly see the regret that swam within their dark depths. A pang of pain coursed through my heart at his expression and I immediately looked away.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, not caring about how my words cracked as I spoke

"No, it's not your fault. I let my wolf take over. I never should've done that.

"You don't want to?" I asked, a tear escaping my eyes as I felt rejection emanate from his words

He shook his head and made his way towards me before sitting on the edge of the bed facing me. He reached out and placed a hand on my own, making me look up no matter how badly I didn't want to

"It's not that, my love. Believe me when I say that I want to make you mine. My wolf and I want you to ourselves. But marking you will leave a permanent mark that will never fade. And I don't think doing that now with your father's lack of knowledge of our kind would be the best thing."

I continued to stare at him until I noticed his eyes flicker down to my chest, and I instantly followed his line of sight. A loud gasp escaped my throat and I immediately covered myself, realizing that I was only wearing my shorts and bra. If my cheeks were red before, they were worse now caused me. We stayed there for a few minutes until I felt his body vibrate against me. I pulled away and looked into his eyes, only to find them pitch black once again. I raised my eyebrow, realizing that he had actually just growled.

He chuckled silently, brushing a hair away from my face with a smile.

"There's no need to hide from me, sweetheart. You're beautiful in my eyes." He paused, his eyes flicking back to my chest before settling on my eyes once more.

"But, just to be on the safe side, I think it'd be best to put your shirt back on."

"Right," I said sheepishly, standing up and going over to the other side of the bed which was closest to the door and grabbing the shirt on the floor. I placed it over my head and pulled it down, concealing any skin that had previously been on full display

I walked back to him, stepping in between his legs and lazily placing my arms on either shoulder. I smiled down at him, my heart fluttering as he sent me his breathtaking smile that I could never seem to get enough of. I leaned down, planting a soft kiss on his awaiting lips. Despite of it being so simple and quick, my body still reacted the same way as it usually did whenever I was around him. He pulled me towards him with his arms wrapped around my small waist, preventing me from breaking the kiss, which I didn't mind whatsoever.After a few minutes, he pulled away and swept me off my feet (literally) and carried me to the bed. Without letting me go, he pulled back the covers and laid us both in the comfort of my extremely soft cushion. My bed seemed to be a lot more comfortable with him lying next to me, and I wouldn't want it any other way

Stretching my body out so I can get more comfortable beside him, I let out a yawn as I snuggled against his warm body

"Somebody needs some sleep," he whispered, wrapping his arms around me protectively

I shook my head as I buried myself deeper against him.

"I don't want to go to sleep," I protested, sounding more like a child

He let out a soft chuckle as he kissed my head.

"And why is that, beautiful?"

"Because I don't want to stop talking to you." Even if it was the truth, my eyes were betraying me and slowing drooping.

"You can always talk to me tomorrow while we're at the cabin, my love.

I sat up slightly, trying hard not to completely move my body from the comfortable position I was in as I looked into his eyes with excitement.

"So that means you're going?"

He nodded, kissing me gently on my forehead.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world."

"And is your dad okay with it, though? I don't think mine would be okay with having you and I alone in the lake," I said with a frown

"But I thought your father loved me," he said, wiggling his eyebrows my way

I couldn't help but laugh and playfully nudge his shoulder in the process. "You're not manipulating my dad again.

He pouted his lips, which looked extremely adorable by the way, as he seemed to give me the puppy dog eyes. Was this guy serious? "But I didn't do anything wrong." Who sounded like a child now

I rolled my eyes, a smile playing on my lips as I gazed down at him.

"Sure you didn't, Mr. Alpha."

I turned around and snuggled myself against my pillows, only to have him wrap his arm around my waist and pull me towards him, completely destroying the comfortable position I just created. I turned and glared at him playfully.

"Hey, I was comfortable you know."

He shrugged his shoulders, kissing me on my cheek.

"I know you'd be more comfortable with me instead."

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Is that so?" He simply nodded, a smirk lacing his perfect lips.

"Well, for your information, I prefer my bed over you. Thank you very much."

I was about to turn back around until I found myself under his large form with dark, yet amused, eyes staring down at me. I stared at him in shock from how quick he had done that. But then again, all werewolves had amazing reflexes. Unlike me

He pinned my body with his own, his legs on either side of mine, preventing me from trying to escape him. Not that I would succeed anyway, I was no match for my mate

"What was that again?" His voice sent shivers down my spine. Not because it was pleasant, but because I knew he had something planned for me if I were to repeat my words.I shrugged, trying hard to fight the smile that threatened to spread across my lips.

"I didn't say anything."

He smirked, his arms traveling towards my torso in a slow, yet menacing, manner. I raised my eyebrow at him, trying to comprehend his actions but coming up blank.

"You sure about that?" He pressed, his smirk broadening.

"Positive," I said slowly, eyeing his every move.

"You asked for it."

Before I knew it, I was being attacked by his tickling fingers on my stomach, making me squirm about with fits of laughter escaping my throat. How dare he know my weakness? That was not a fair advantage on my part.

Every single time I thought he was going to stop, he simply continued, making me erupt into more fits of laughter. I tried hard to push his arms away from me, but I was no match for his strength.

"Blake! Stop!" I screamed, my laughter erupting throughout my room.

He stopped, pulling up my hands on either side of my head and holding them there with his own. His smirk remained in place as he leaned downward, his face merely inches from mine. He stared down at my lips, licking his own as a soft growl thundered in the air between us. The sweet sound aroused me, making me bite my own lip in response.

"Did you change your mind?" He asked, his voice low and husky.

I couldn't help but smile as I nodded.

"My bed may be extremely comfy, but you're a lot better."

He smiled brightly down at me, kissing the tip of my nose.

"That's more like it."

He reached down and pressed his lips against mine. I immediately parted my own, allowing him entrance as his arms slithered their way around my waist and I took the opportunity to wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him against me.

A few seconds passed before I felt him pull away from my grasp, making me whimper at the sudden coldness that took over my body. He chuckled, kissing my lips gently before settling himself back on his side of the bed. Leaving an outstretched arm, I crawled my way towards him, snuggling against his warm body and sighing contently.

"You know, your bed is actually comfy. I take it back."

I rolled my eyes with a smile.

"Told you."

He growled playfully at me before pulling me close against him.

"Good night, my little angel. I'll see you in the morning."

"Good night, Blake."

Silence filled the air between us and I instantly felt sleep take over my body. As much as I wanted to spend every possible second I could with my mate, I knew better than to lie awake in his arms. I knew I would be seeing him tomorrow. The mere thought of spending the entire weekend with him brought the butterflies in my stomach to start flying about rapidly.

Slipping away into unconsciousness, the last thing I heard was the sweet sound of my mate's voice before I fell into a deep sleep.

"Sweet dreams, my love. I love you. "
