Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 98

Fiona's POV

I couldn't help but laugh at the tone she used as she said those words. It was like a mother telling her daughter not to punch the class bully again, despite her being amused that she even did it to begin with. Weird, I know

I nodded and pulled her close to me, holding her there for a few seconds before releasing her

"So what did you do over there? I'm sure there wasn't anything exciting," she said with a disgusted face

I chuckled at her expression.

"Like if there's anything exciting here," I said sarcastically, looking around us and smiling at a few kids who were chasing each other around the backyard

She rolled her eyes and punched my shoulder playfully.

"Very funny. But seriously, what did you do?" She asked expectantly, her eyes curious

I shrugged my shoulders and leaned back against the chair.

"I went to college and once I graduated, I started working at the Senior home that I chose for my internship. Been working there ever since. Well, up until recently, of course."

She nodded, but raised her eyebrow immediately after.

"You worked with old people? And you count that as exciting?"

I glared at her playfully and pushed her backward, but all she did was sway a little.

"Hey, I had fun there. Especially with Joel"

"Joel?" She asked, tilting her head and causing her hair to fall effortlessly across her shoulder

"Joel. He was a patient at the home and was my best friend there, honestly."

She gasped dramatically, placing a hand over her heart.

"But I thought I was your best friend. I have been replaced by an old man?"

I rolled my eyes heavenward. Yup, definitely missed this girl.

"Temporarily speaking, yes," I said with a small giggle

She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted.

"Old geezer stole my position. How rude"

I shook my head. She could definitely be a child sometimes. And to think she was having twins! I feel bad for the children already. Which reminds me…

"But how are you and Anthonio handling this whole baby news?" I asked, leaning towards her after the sudden swarm of people who came out into the backyard and began to converse rather loudly. Seriously, they are werewolves and they still need to shout at each other? I'll never understand that.

A ghost of a smile formed on her lips as she shrugged looking over her shoulder before turning back to me.

"Honestly, we are both nervous as hell! Specifically him. He doesn't necessarily show it all the time, but I know him well enough. Especially when he's being all overprotective and such. You should have seen him when Blake decided to go after you and asked him to come along. He was having a fit about leaving me for even a single second! As if him going on Alpha meetings wasn't bad enough," she said with a shake of her head. Letting out a heavy sigh, she leaned her chin against the palm of her hand as she looked at me.

"You should hear the voicemails he left me whenever I didn't answer the phone while he was in New Jersey. And I thought girls were the ones to jump to conclusions"

I laughed quietly, nodding my head in agreement.

"Seems like the roles have been reversed somewhat, huh?" She nodded, groaning loudly in her hands as she buried her face within them. I chuckled at her childish behavior before looking down at her rather large stomach.

"I guess it seems to run in the family to have twins," I said sourly, furrowing my eyebrows at the mere thought of Anthonio's sister. Even after graduation, Cicilia never seemed to lighten up about me being Blake's mate. I wouldn't be surprised if she was jumping with joy the second she heard I had run away that day.

Sara slowly looked up from her hands and gave me a sheepish smile. I quirked my eyebrow questioningly at her before the sound of the brunette's high pitched voice hit my ears. Even I had to flinch at the mere sound and I didn't even have sensitive hearing. Thank the goddess for that at this very moment

I looked up just in time to see the devil herself making her way towards the table Sara and I were currently residing in. I couldn't help but analyze her from where I sat, and I was highly disappointed to see that she hadn't changed a lot either. She was still tall and slender with similar features as Anthonio, her natural tan making her even more beautiful. The only difference I saw was she had cut her hair short and it barely reached her shoulders. I couldn't help but groan quietly as I realized it made her slender face look that more appealing than before. She wore a tight fitted purple dress that accentuated her curves with black high heels that were a little too tall for my liking. I was surprised she hadn't fallen flat on her face yet, seeing as we were surrounded by freshly cut grass

Cicilia waved, her eyes trained on Sara with a bright smile until her eyes lingered towards me. In a blink of an eye, her light brown orbs turned a shade darker as her delicate eyebrows furrowed together. Her fast paced walking slowed down a bit and I could've sworn I noticed her make an effort to move her butt a little bit more with every step she took. I raised my eyebrow at her actions and immediately looked away as she reached the table

"Hey Cicilia," Sara said with a warm smile

"I've been looking all over for you," Cicilia said with an actual genuine smile in return

I couldn't help but look at them both in confusion. Since when are Cicilia and Sara nice to each other? Last time I checked, Sara couldn't stand how stuck up the girl could be and she always complained that Cicilia so happened to be related to her mate. And to make matters worse, she nearly always fainted when she remembered that they were twins. I swear she should be crowned the biggest drama queen of the pack. Second to Cicilia of course. And yet, here they are, actually talking without sending the other nasty looks?I hadn't been paying much attention to their conversation until the sound of Sara calling my name snapped me back to the present. I blinked a few times and looked over at my blonde friend, noticing Cicilia smirk my way which I easily ignored

"I'm sorry, what?" I asked innocently which earned a playful eye roll from Sara

"I see you're still as lost as ever," Cicilia muttered under her breath, but I easily caught it with no difficulty

I smiled sweetly at her, tilting my head so I could get a better angle of her face. "And I see you're just as nice as ever. I like the new haircut," I said sincerely, my eyes raking over her head before landing on her shocked looking eyes

She passed a hand through her hair before straightening her back.

"Why thank you," she said quietly, averting her attention back to Sara "Anthonio told me to keep an eye on you since he and Blake, as well as the Alpha and my father, are having a private meeting."

I quirked my eyebrow, my curiosity spiking at her words.

"Why are they having a private meeting?"

She glanced my way but never once fully faced me.

"How the hell should I know?" she asked as kindly as possible, but I could still sense the bitterness in her tone

Sara let out a heavy sigh before rubbing her temple.

"I swear, that boy can't leave me alone or unattended for one second"

I laughed.

"You still have me," I said, in which she smiled, only to have it be wiped off by Cicilia's next words

"He wants someone who is able to protect her. Like a werewolf. Not a mere human," she said sourly, scrunching up her nose in disgust as she stared down at me.

"And yet this human is going to be your next Luna. Go figure," I said sarcastically, leaning my head against the palm of my hand.

"Okay…." Sara spoke loudly, trying to break up the tense atmosphere we were both creating.

"Fiona, you might be wondering why Cicilia and I are actually speaking decently to each other." Cicilia scoffed in disbelief while I chuckled quietly, immediately quieting down when I felt daggers being thrown my way, but the smile still remained plastered on my face.

"During the month that the boys were gone, Anthonio asked her to keep a close eye on me since their father was busy running some errands with the Alpha. And during that time, we sort of….bonded."

I nodded as Sara looked up at Cicilia with a small smile in which Cicilia returned instantly with a small hand being placed on her shoulder

"Who would've thought?" I asked cheerfully, looking over at Cicilia who glared in my direction

"I know! But I was wondering if you wanted to come with us and Mrs. Black to have some lunch tomorrow," Sara said with hopeful eyes

I shrugged my shoulders with a small smile.

"Sure, that would be nice. I miss hanging out with Linda anyway."
