Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 107

Fiona's POV

I sighed, twirling a string of fabric from the pillow between the pads of my fingers, my mind swirling with thoughts that seemed to scream and beg for them to be heard.

"I just," I started, taking in a deep breath before meeting her green orbs,

"I just feel like Blake is continuously avoiding me these past few days. He seems....distant for some reason. I understand he has business to catch up on after a month of being away, but even back then, he'll make time for me. He barely speaks to me now, and when he does, it's mindless chit-chat that has no meaning like the weather or dinner. I'm going crazy wondering what the heck I did to make him be this way. Sara, what in the world should I do?" I asked frantically, not noticing that I was panting from not breathing as I talked.

Sara gave me a sympathetic smile and grabbed my hand once more.

"It's okay to feel this way, Fiona. You know how guys are, they have their own form of period sometimes," she said with a small giggle, her eyes distant.

"Blake has always been a little different between Anthonio and Marcus, more personal even. He isn't one to open up to someone so easily so if he does, he must trust you more than anyone else." Sara shrugged, leaning against the pillows and rubbing her belly in a circular motion, a small smile playing at her lips before her eyes averted back to me once more.

"Give Blake some time to adjust, okay?"

I nodded, not feeling convinced by her words. All these people had known Blake longer than I have so their words should fill me with reassurance, and yet a little voice in my head kept insisting not to listen because of who I was to him. I was his mate. Anyone could easily lie and state that they're alright with a bright smile and gleaming eyes and people would buy their little act. But when you can actually sense what your mate is feeling like waves crashing against the borders of your heart, causing an uproar inside of you, telling you that something is wrong, you better believe what your heart is telling you instead of your mind.

Seeming to sense my inner turmoil to agree with what she said, she let out a soft sigh and her eyes became distant. Within seconds the sound of footsteps were heard coming upstairs to the door. My heart quickened in pace, expecting Blake to appear but as the door creaked open slightly, I was met with familiar blue eyes that I had grown quite accustomed to. Letting out a shaky breath, I turned to Sara in question. What the heck is she up to?

Marcus came in hesitantly, eyeing Sara and I before settling his eyes on her. They were both quiet for some time, but their eyes said otherwise. They were having a conversation through their mind link so I wouldn't listen....how dare they! I crossed my arms in annoyance. Of course they would do that if they were scheming something. That made me straighten my back in alert. Exactly what were they planning

With a nod of his head, Marcus turned to look at me with an eerie smile. I hated it when he looked at me like that. This is definitely not good

"My lady, your chariot awaits," Marcus said, bowing down before straightening out his stance and extending an arm for me to take

I eyed his arm cautiously before looking over at Sara

"Where is he taking me?"

Sara waved her hands dismissively in the air before standing up and straightening out her shirt.

"You've been stuck here for 3 days already and need to go out for a bit. Marcus is going to accompany you since Anthonio wouldn't let me go far out without him. You know how hard it was to convince him not to come when we were planning the baby shower?" She asked wide eyed. She shook her head with a small laugh before walking towards my side of the bed and practically dragging me to my feet. This girl was strong!

"Come now, put on your shoes and let's get you going. You need some fun!"I looked down at my attire and realized it nearly matched her own, except my sweatshirt was a navy blue instead of gray.

"I don't think this is appropriate for going out in public," I said shyly, looking at both of them.

"Maybe I should just stay here." I slowly started pulling away to sit back down, but Sara was faster than I and was standing behind me within seconds, causing me to bump against her belly gently. I jumped at the sudden movement and turned to look at her

Sara shook her head and practically pushed me towards Marcus who was waiting patiently at the door.

"Now to get your shoes," Sara said with a bright smile, dashing into the closet and rummaging through the little belongings I obtained

I tried to run into the bathroom to prevent them from doing this, but Marcus's long arm suddenly wrapped itself around my shoulders and I was now trapped by his side.

"Not gonna happen, sweetheart," Marcus said with an evil grin before turning to the closet.

"Get her sneakers, it'll be easier"

Just then Sara was coming out with the only flats I owned and sighed before walking back inside, grumbling something I couldn't comprehend.

"Why do I need sneakers?" I asked hesitantly. I did not trust these two when they planned something together. If you think Marcus is bad, add a little Sara to the mix and you're in for a long day filled with nothing but disaster. It's sadly the same thing vice versa.

Marcus gave me a little squeeze as Sara came out with a pair of socks and my dirty old sneakers that I have had for years.

"We're going for a little walk so I think sneakers is much more comfortable," Marcus responded as I lazily put the shoes on. I'm going to kill these two.

Sara clapped her hands together before sprinting down the stairs.

"I hope you guys have fun!" She shouted behind her before her footsteps completely disappeared

I looked up at Marcus and asked,

"Do I really have to go?" I tried my best to do the puppy eyed look, but it seemed to me that it wasn't working when Marcus let out a bark of laughter. Shaking his head, he lead me out of the room and down the stairs. This was going to be fun

The fallen leaves crunched loudly beneath my feet as I ducked and turned to avoid every branch that stood in my way. Climbing over fallen tree trunks? Now that was a completely different story. Thankfully Marcus was there to prevent any sudden injuries from occurring. The sun shone brightly over our heads, casting elegant streams of light to pierce through the trees and create pools of vibrant yellows and greens to be cast on the floor. The forest was filled with life as birds chirped happily and sang melodies that I could not comprehend. Small critters filled the ground, scurrying as the distance between our bodies diminished. I smiled brightly at the sight of a small rabbit jumping happily a few feet away from me. I had to admit, the forest was quite beautiful and I was thankful to have Marcus there with me to enjoy the scenery. But despite its natural beauty and stunning view of the tall trees around us, a question still fought its way to the tip of my tongue.

"Marcus, why are we here?" I asked, my voice echoing through the trees

Marcus remained silent, his back tensing beneath his black shirt. He ran a hand through his hair, pulling at the ends before letting his arm fall at his side. We walked a couple of feet more before his voice reached my ears,

"Don't you want to take a walk with me?" He looked back with a small smirk playing at his lips

I rolled my eyes.

"Not when I don't know if you're going to kill me or not," I responded with raised eyebrows

It was his turn to roll his eyes at me before looking forward. I was surprised he didn't trip while looking back at me. Oh right, werewolf.

"Why would I kill you if it's only a death sentence on me afterward?" He had a point there.

"And besides, the house was getting a bit lonely and I've been dying to go for a walk for these past few days."

"Aww, nobody wanted to walk you? I mean, walk with you?" I asked, a small giggle escaping my lips as he turned back with a deathly glare. The change in his demeanor was quite amusing actually.

"Oh come on!" I exclaimed skipping forward to catch up with him,

"You know that was a good one!"

"Haha, you're quite the comedian," he muttered, his eyes glancing at me for a brief moment

"I try," I said happily, swinging my arms like a child and exploring the scenery around us.
