Blake's POV

His last words stunned me and I couldn't help but take a step back as I tilted my head in question.

"What did I take from you?"

"My rightful place in the pack!" His voice thundered among the trees, making me take another step back when I noticed his eyes darken

It took me seconds to realize what he was talking about before I straightened my stance, taking a deep breath as I tried to calm down my agitated wolf. And let me tell you, it was extremely difficult to calm down a pissed off Alpha wolf.

"You know why father gave me the title. You were in no condition to lead our pack. Despite you being a strong wolf, you lacked a Luna. Every wolf knows that a pack cannot function properly without their rightful Luna.

"None of you ever gave me the chance! None of you ever gave me the chance to lead this pack to its rightful glory. Instead of waiting to see the outcome, father just handed the job to you without a single care about what I thought about the matter!" He yelled, motioning with his hands in my direction

"Father knew what was best for the pack. He knew that once rogues found out that the pack lacked a Luna, they would instantly cause mayhem and destroy us from the inside, out.

He chuckled, shaking his head and letting out a huff of laughter.

"Like if they won't once they find out that their future Luna is in fact a human." At that moment, I flinched when piercing pain began to take on my back. The cool wind brushed against the freshly made wound, making me wince instantly. I let out another growl as I felt the wound heal itself.

"And I must say, she's quite the looker despite her being human.

"Don't you dare lay a finger on Fiona!"

He smirked.

"Too late for that little brother."

My eyes widened before I felt my wolf begin to resurface, clawing his way for dominance of my body but I kept him at bay the best I could. "If you hurt her-" I threatened, only to be stopped by his laughter.

"Too late for that as well, Maxwell. You think those wounds are happening on their own?" He shook his head, kicking some dirt on the ground as if this was simply a casual conversation between two brothers.

"But don't worry, I'll take good care of your little mate once I'm finished with you. I know we'll be great leaders for this pack.

"She's mine!" I growled, taking another step forward

"And what is that?"

"Last time I checked, she's not. She may be your mate, but you have failed to do one thing, little brother."

A crooked smile spread across his lips as he tilted his head to the right. "Mark her.

I instantly froze, remembering all those times my wolf begged me to mark her, but I never allowed it. I feared that she wasn't ready and I wanted to wait for as long as I needed to before I could do such a thing.

"You wouldn't." His smile broadened.

"Oh, but I would. Once you're out of the picture, I would gladly mark that little mate of yours and make her mine. She may cry for you once she realizes you are dead, but those feelings will diminish once I do." He paused, placing a finger on his chin as he looked up at the sky as if deep in thought.

"Hmm, I do wonder how delicious she'll look like naked on my bed before I mate with her." That did it.

My wolf pushed forward and as I jumped in the air, I shifted into my wolf form, completely allowing for him to take over our body as he pinned Maxwell to the ground. He growled at him, snapping at his face which he easily avoided. The smirk still remained plastered on his face as his eyes turned completely black

"Did you forget, brother? You're not the only one who has Alpha blood coursing through their veins.

Before I knew it, he grabbed either paw of mine and pushed us back, sending us flying a few feet away from where he laid. My wolf shook his head after we landed hard on the ground. It wasn't enough to hurt us, but enough to throw us off balance for the time being. When we looked back at him, he was shaking before light brown hair began to spurt out of him. Within seconds, he was in his wolf form, the pieces of clothing now lying carelessly on the floor. He snarled at me, walking towards my left in a crouching stance. His eyes were trained on me, analyzing my next move as my wolf did the same. It was clear that no man was fighting this battle. Our wolf selves had completely taken over and when two Alpha wolves battle in this manner, one of them never came out alive

'We'll make sure that it won't be him,' my wolf growled in my mind, shifting his body so he was fully facing Malcolm's wolf without hesitance

'Then don't hold back,' I responded before I saw Maxwell charge forward, bearing his teeth as he knocked us to the ground He was pinning me down with his large paws, but his size was nothing compared to my own. With one swipe of our paws, my wolf pushed him off, leaving claw marks sprawled across his face. He growled at me, lunging forward which my wolf avoided with ease. As he passed us, my wolf bit down on his shoulder, making Maxwell yelp in pain before he turned his head and took a bite out of our left side. It was extremely painful but we managed to free ourselves from his tight grasp

Suddenly, we heard a piercing scream come from behind, making us lose our focus on the wolf in front of us. We knew whose scream that was, and it made our heart clench with pain. My wolf turned to look at our freshly made wound and it was then that we realized it was the same exact spot where we had that huge gash form on our skin from before. The one that we now had was about the same length and there was no doubt that Fiona was feeling it now. She was human, meaning that her previous injury was still left to heal. With this one now appearing on both of our bodies, there was no doubt on my mind that the pain was intensifying with every second that passed by for our mate. My wolf whimpered in the back of my mind as he fought the urge to run to her aid. But we couldn't leave now, knowing that there was somebody threatening to take her from us permanently.
