Fiona's POV

His smile broadened as he kissed the top of my forehead before letting me go, which I had to admit I immediately hated when he did. A rush of coldness overwhelmed my body and I couldn't help but shiver. I was missing his touch already. Well, that was weird.

"So how's your butt?"

I rolled my eyes once more.

"Peachy, just peachy," I said sarcastically, rubbing it as I made my way to my bed. I suddenly stopped short when I heard him growl lowly from behind me. I turned around slowly, noticing that even in the small amount of light that entered my bedroom, his eyes were now a darker shade.

"You okay?" I asked cautiously.

He gave me a once over, his hands balling into fists at his side.

"Can you please get into bed?" he asked through gritted teeth.

My brow raised in question. What did he mean by that? As if reading my thoughts, he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath before answering with a strained voice, "Just do it and I'll explain later."

Without hesitation, I dashed into my bed and pulled the covers over me. I rested my back against the bed frame and stared up at him. His body seemed to relax ever so slightly, but I could still see his muscles flexing in his arms as he clenched and un-clenched his fists. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the sight; and that was when I noticed it. He was completely shirtless! I looked away immediately, my cheeks flushing a bright red. He was only wearing a pair of black shorts, and that was practically it. I wonder if he was wearing anything under that….dammit Fiona.!

I shook my head, looking back at him and trying my best not to stare at his god-like body. He was just too sexy for his own good. The second I met his eyes, I immediately regretted it.

"Enjoying the view?" He asked with a smirk.

I pulled the covers over my head, shaking my head in embarrassment.

"Sorry," I muttered, hoping that this was all a dream and I was completely alone in my room instead of with a half naked man who seemed to make my hormones go insane.

Suddenly, I felt the bed shift slightly and the covers were ripped from my hands. It took me a second to realize what had happened until my voice got caught in my throat when I noticed just how close he was to me now. His head was mere inches from mine, his body close enough to touch. He now lied down in the same position I was to my right and if I were to move slightly, my body would immediately brush against his. Even though we weren't making any sort of contact, it was evident that the sparks were still flying all around us, making it hard to breathe.

"You feel that?" he asked, his voice deep and husky as he sent me a small smile. All I could do was nod. He reached out his hand and stroked a gentle finger across my cheek, leaving a burning sensation of desire where his finger touched. I trembled slightly, fighting the moan that was shockingly trying hard to fight its way through my lips. I bit my bottom lip, receiving a low growl from him as his eyes darkened.

"Please don't do that."

I pulled away from him, giving us enough distance between us so the sparks could settle down, although they were still evident.

"Why is that? I mean, the whole sparks thing?" I asked quietly, avoiding his heated gaze.

I waited quietly beside him, feeling his body relax after a few seconds. He let out a soft sigh, running a hand through his dark locks in a frustrated manner. His eyebrows pulled together as he said,

"It's kind of a long story."

I looked to my left where my clock laid on my night stand. It was only 10:18.

"We still have time."

I shook my head. Werewolf stories were most definitely not my favorite genre of books.

"Nope."

He nodded, looking up at the ceiling as he settled himself. He was now lying completely on my bed, allowing me a perfect view of every curve of muscle he had on his upper body. He placed both hands behind his head, gazing up at me with that breathtaking smile which seemed to always take my breath away.

"Well, do you know a lot about werewolves based off of books?"

He laughed quietly, shaking his head. "Oh, the irony."

"Right?" I said sarcastically, crossing my arms in front of my chest as I settled myself more against my fluffy pillow. Man they were comfy as hell. No wonder I would knock out easily at night.

"First thing's first, we live in packs."

"Obviously," I interrupted, rolling my eyes upward. When I looked down, I noticed that he was looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

"What?"

I raised my hand, passing my fingers against my lips as if I was zipping them shut. I received a small chuckle in return.

"Care to let me finish?"

"You're too damn adorable for your own good, you know that?" I couldn't help but raise my eyebrow at that.

"You'll see why I say that. Anyway, werewolves live in packs and the pack you are currently living in so happens to be one of the largest ones in the country. In the world really." He muttered the last part.

"What's the name of it?" I couldn't help it! Everything he said always made me ask questions no matter how badly I tried to keep my mouth shut.

"The Black Forest Pack." I had to roll my eyes at that one. So cliché.

"Anyway, in each pack there is an Alpha, Luna, and Beta. The Alpha and Luna are sort of like the king and queen of the pack and the Beta is second in command for whenever the Alpha has other business to attend to. We all rely on each other like a family. If you haven't figured it out already, everybody here in town are werewolves."

My mouth dropped open. You've got to be kidding me.

"Seriously? My dad and I are the only humans here?"

He shook his head.

"You guys aren't the only ones. There're two more human families living here."

"Do they know about you guys?"

"Yeah. They vowed to keep it a secret; and I hope you don't expose our world to the human one," he said with a pointed look which I easily ignored.

"The humans don't know about it?"

He shrugged, looking up at the ceiling once more.

"They know without them knowing, if that makes any sense. They think that it's all just fantasy and it's simply a world that was created by others long ago. The truth is, these stories started from humans that had encountered us in their lifetimes. The good part about that is, everyone thought they were crazy." He laughed lightly at that.

"Anyway, every pack member, werewolf really, has someone who we call a mate." He looked up at me, waiting for me to say something but I just kept quiet. I urged him to continue with my eyes and he did.

"Mates are, well, mates. They're a wolf's other half. The moon goddess herself carefully selects who is destined to be together and once a werewolf finds their mate, they're bonded to each other for the rest of eternity."

"Really? That's so sweet." He nodded his head, looking out the window as his body tensed as I continued to stare at him. "There's more to that, isn't there?"

He looked back at me, staring intently into my eyes.

"Yeah, there is." He paused, gazing up at me as if searching for something. We continued staring at each other for quite some time before he let out a soft sigh. "Fiona, there's a reason why I've been sticking around you for so long." He paused once more as he sat upright, facing completely away from me.

"When a werewolf finds their mate, there's an instant pull towards each other. No matter how hard they try to walk away from it, it becomes harder and harder to fight the bond." He looked back at me, an intense emotion clearly seen in his eyes.

"There's never been such a case like this in werewolf history, Fiona, and I have no idea why it even happened. But I can't ignore it. My wolf keeps fighting me to claim my mate already and never let her go. It doesn't matter if she's different, she's still our mate."

I tilted my head, trying hard to grasp what he was saying. I remembered how people around here kept on talking about mates, and now I knew why. But if Black was a werewolf, then who could possibly be his mate? And that's when it hit me My eyes widened in shock as I stared at him in disbelief. He was kidding right? Werewolves had to have werewolf mates, right? How can I be his mate? I was simply human. He did say this had never happened before, so why now? How can I, a girl who had been a complete and silent nerd her entire life, be the mate of a strong, and strangely powerful, werewolf? It just didn't add up.

I shook my head slowly, laying my head against the back board of my bed as I stared at the ceiling above my head. My mind was spinning rapidly and I could've sworn the room was doing so as well. I shut my eyes, taking deep breaths as the one thing kept on repeating on my mind: I was a werewolf's mate.

I felt the bed dip slightly and the sparks ignite once more as he positioned himself closer to me. I felt his hand pull a strand of my hair behind my ear, the heated sensation not going unnoticed. I opened my eyes slowly, meeting his dark ones right in front of me. He was now facing me with a hand leaning against the other side of my legs for support. My breathing increased in rhythm from the close proximity, but I never once broke away from his heavy gaze.

"I'm your mate?" I whispered into the heavy air between us. He nodded his head.

"But….how?"

He shrugged, his intense gaze never dwindling.

"I don't know. Even my father doesn't know and he's the Alpha of the pack. But it doesn't matter, Fiona. My wolf and I want to be with you, regardless of you being human. When I turned 18 last Friday, I wanted nothing more than to be with you the second I found out that you were my mate. I may not know why the goddess paired us together, but I am never letting you go."

A tear escaped from my right eye at his words, and he gently wiped it away with his hand. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Here was a guy who I met not too long ago who so happens to be my mate (still grasping that idea) and he pours out that he doesn't want to leave my side. My heart seemed to clench tightly around an unknown emotion until something hit me.

"Wait, your dad's the Alpha of your pack?"

He nodded, his eyebrow rising slightly. "Yeah, why?"

"So wait, if he's the Alpha, then that means…?"

He nodded once again.

"Yeah, I'm the next soon to be Alpha, Fiona." A bright smile spread across his full lips, revealing his pure white teeth.

"But wait, then that makes me…" I trailed off, my eyebrows pulling together.

"That makes you the future Luna of this pack, Fiona. And you'll be the greatest Luna this pack has ever seen!"

"But Blake, I have no idea how to be a Luna. I didn't even know this world existed a week ago, and now I'm a part of it!"

I suddenly noticed a streak of pain cross his features before he immediately covered it. He stared down at the covers beneath him, his shoulders slouching slightly. I was suddenly struck with a piercing pain spreading across my chest. It made me hunch over and place a worried hand above my heart. Why was I feeling this way?

"It's the bond. Mates tend to feel what the other one is feeling," he murmured, his tone expressionless.

Wait, why was he feeling this way? It wasn't until I replayed what I had said in my head that I understood this sudden emotion.

"Oh Blake, I didn't mean it like that. It's just so sudden and new to me. You just need to give me some time to grasp it all. I'm so sorry." My voice cracked slightly towards the end. I reached out my hand and placed it gently against his cheek, my fingers trembling at the touch. I grazed my hand against his skin before placing it beneath his chin and lifting his head until his eyes met my own.

"I didn't mean to hurt you that way."

He clasped my hand with his own, letting out a soft sigh as he leaned against it.

"I know. It's my fault for throwing all of this information at you so quickly."

I shook my head.

"I'm the one who wanted to know. You were only doing what I asked."

"Fiona, you have no idea how much you mean to me already. It may have only been a few days since I found out you were my mate, but my wolf and I can't seem to let you go anymore."

I smiled.

"What is your wolf saying right now?"

He chuckled, planting a tender kiss on the palm of my hand. Something stirred inside of me and I couldn't help but wish that he was kissing my lips instead. I shook my head, trying hard to calm down my now fast beating heart.
