Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 125
Fiona's POV
Don't get me wrong, as much as I would love to argue with the girl whose sole mission seemed to be to make my life a living hell, seeing how Sara look tired despite her upbeat energy made me hold myself at bay. I guess Marcus was going to be disappointed this time around
"Is there a problem?" she asked calmly. A little too calmly, if you ask me
I shrugged my shoulders, peering down at the stack of papers with small notes and a handful of pictures.
"Is it really necessary to have seating arrangements? I mean, this is a baby shower we're planning, not a wedding."
Marcus suddenly began to choke on the soda he was drinking, coughing hysterically beside me as I tried to calm him down.
"Drink slowly, you idiot," I muttered as I slammed my hand against his back repeatedly.
Letting out another cough, he cleared his throat and whispered hoarsely,
"My bad.
Looking up, I noticed Sara give him a pointed look before averting her eyes back to me with a small smile
"The reason why it is necessary to have a seating arrangement is because there will be a lot of guests at the baby shower. We do not want there to be chaos if there is no order with that many people in the backyard of the pack house."
Cicilia's tone seeped with venom as her voice got higher with each word she spoke. Clearly, going against another one of her plans was definitely not on her agenda on this rainy day. Tilting my head slightly, I motioned Saranto pass me the seating chart and she instantly obliged
Looking down at the rather well drawn diagram, I couldn't help but admire how intricately detailed it was. Cicilia definitely had a talent for this, and I wasn't at all surprised seeing as Daniella was the wedding planner for the area. A bit odd for werewolves who don't believe in marriage, but with her clientele, she had no problem keeping herself busy
Marcus leaned against my right shoulder, peering down at the chart as well and scanning its contents while taking another sip of soda.
"Wow, who knew you could actually be decent at something?" he asked, clearly as impressed at the chart before us
With a small smile, I pushed him off with my shoulder and placed the chart back on the coffee table. Marcus didn't hesitate to lean against me casually as he continued sipping his drink. A little too comfortably, might I add
"I guess you're right. With this many people. a seating chart is definitely needed. Oh, and I like the touch of having a table designated for the gifts by the way," I said with a smile, which caught Cicilia completely off guard
Her mouth gaped open, completely baffled at my unexpected compliment. It was a sincere one, and I'm pretty sure she was trying her best to decipher whether I meant it or not. And in all honesty, I did.
My smile widened as I looked down at the coffee table and analyzed its contents quickly.
"It seems to me that you guys took care of almost everything. Is there anything you need for me to do?" I asked politely, looking back at Cicilia who still sat there staring at me like a fish out of water
"Oh, uh...." she trailed off, blinking a few times before rummaging through the papers swiftly and handing me a small stack of documents.
"Give these to Linda. They are the finalized orders and contact information for all the vendors delivering what we need. Do remind her to confirm their deliveries Friday afternoon."
I nodded, skimming through the papers and nodding.
"You got it. Anything else?"
She slowly shook her head, her voice failing her as she busied herself with the papers once more. It seemed to me that she really wasn't paying too much attention to what was in front of her
Marcus slurped the last bit of the soda rather loudly, gaining my attention. As I turned to him, he simply raised his eyebrows amusingly before standing up in one quick movement and heading back into the kitchen
"Well, I guess Marcus and I better get going now. Do you need anything before we leave?" I asked Sara as I stood up and organized the papers in my hands
She shook her head as she struggling to stand up. Cicilia immediately noticed and assisted her quickly before getting back to whatever she was doing before.
"Ugh, these babies are going to be the death of me before I even give birth," she muttered with a tired smile.
I couldn't help but smile down at my best friend as I kneeled down in front of her, quickly setting the papers on the couch to my right. Placing a hand on either side of her tummy, I began to trace soothing circles as I looked up at her
"You're going to be a great mom, Sara," I whispered, instantly noticing the tears beginning to develop in her eyes
Without hesitation, she leaned forward and hugged me tightly, a few sniffles escaping her. I patted her head gently before releasing my hold and finding Cicilia with a box of tissues aimed at Sara. She muttered a thank you at Cicilia who didn't bother looking her way as she placed the box beside her once more. Good thing she was prepared because Sara seemed to be balling her eyes out at what I said.
Kissing her on her forehead, I quickly said my goodbyes and walked to the door where Marcus stood waiting for me. When he had passed by the living room was beyond me, but I didn't question it as he grabbed the papers so I could put on my coat once more
"I'll call you tomorrow," I called out to Sara before leaving to the pack house once more
It wasn't until I stepped into the rather enormous pack house that I realized just how tired I truly was. I was so preoccupied for most of the day that I barely noticed my energy dwindling.
