Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 75
Blake's POV
At the sound of his words, the rogue's eyes widened some more before he retreated. With one look over his shoulder, he disappeared around the corner without uttering a single word. Rogues
'We don't have time for this. Let's go,' my wolf growled
I nodded in response before walking forward in a rapid pace with Anthonio and Marcus following close behind. Our footsteps were silent as we glided across the sidewalk, our eyes focused on the path ahead. Many cars honked in our direction as we crossed busy streets without once stopping. My time was precious and wasting it on irresponsible drivers would merely bring me even farther from reaching my mate. My mate. At the mere thought of Fiona brought an aching feeling to envelope my chest. I involuntarily pressed a hand above my heart as my wolf whimpered silently in the back of my mind. Every single time I would think of her, a hollow sensation will course through me, making me feel weak and fragile. Having the next Luna suddenly disappear brought a toll on not only I, but the rest of the pack as well. A pack cannot run properly without a Luna. Despite me being the next Alpha and the future leader of the Black Forest Pack, there was no way I can protect my fellow pack members without her by side. I needed her
Taking in a deep breath to calm my wandering thoughts, I stopped suddenly as their scent hit full force. I felt both Anthonio and Marcus stop mere inches from me, probably sending me bewildered glances before the scent hit them as well.
"We're here," Anthonio said quietly as he stepped to my right, Marcus mimicking his movements by standing on my left
"So what do we do now, boss?" Marcus asked, no sign of his lighthearted nature evident in his tone
I let out a heavy sigh as I stared at the invisible line, indicating we were just about to trespass onto another Alpha's territory. There was no physical border around another pack's territory, but being a werewolf gave you the advantage of sensing where a pack was residing
"We get our Luna back," I responded, the usual tone taking over once again
"And what if some pack members try to stop us?" Anthonio questioned, looking at me briefly before averting his eyes to the line once more
"Nothing will stop me from getting what is mine," I said with a low growl. My wolf howled in agreement, urging me forward in the same process.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Marcus said with a raised eyebrow before nodding towards the border.
"Shall we?"
Without another word, we walked forward, entering into un-welcomed territory
The territory was not that large, that was clearly evident as we maneuvered through the streets and crowds of people. So far, we had not detected another wolf in the area nor had we ourselves been detected yet. Despite things going smoothly, we all knew it was merely a matter of time before one wolf from the Lincroft Pack was to cross paths with us, immediately alerting the others as well as the Alpha. I was not aware of who he was, especially since I have not been able to attend an Alpha meeting until I became one myself. And that moment was soon coming in two months
'We need to shift,' Anthonio said through our mind link. 'It would make it easier to track her down.
I nodded silently, my eyes fixated in front of us as we dodged every human that passed by.
'I know. But there're too many people,' I said angrily, taking in a deep breath to calm down my impatient wolf 'There must be a rural area around here. No werewolf pack would mark this territory if there was no running space for them.
Hmm, he had a point there. Only an inexperienced Alpha would relocate their pack in an area where they were not allowed to shift due to the quantity of humans
'Yes. But what space in the city would grant them the freedom to shift?' I questioned, more to myself than to them
'What about a park?' Marcus asked, looking over at us with an expectant look.
'What city does not have a park? I'm pretty sure they close it at night specifically to let them run without being detected by humans.
Anthonio shook his head beside me, a small chuckle escaping his parted lips. 'Again, you cease to amaze me with your random genius moments'
He growled playfully at him, earning perplexed looks from a few people around him.
'Hey! I may not use my brain much, but that does not mean it doesn't function!'
'Thank the goddess for that,' Anthonio muttered with a hearty chuckle
Marcus opened his mouth to say something until I pressed a hand against his chest before looking over at a young blonde girl sitting in a bus stop bench reading a book with a pair of earphones. Taking a few steps, I stopped beside her and reached down before tapping her shoulder to gain her attention. She immediately looked up, startled, before her eyes widened as she stared up at me. Her dark brown eyes seemed mesmerized for a few moments before shaking her head and clearing her throat
"May I help you?" She asked quietly, her voice faltering
I gave her a small smile and immediately heard the change in tempo of her heart. I could practically feel my wolf roll his eyes at her reaction, but the mere sound reminded me that of Fiona whenever I was around her. As her face appeared on my mind, I felt a different sensation run through me. Instead of the small amount of pain that would usually envelope my chest, my heart began to pound uncontrollably in anticipation and my wolf immediately reacted to it. He began to pace back and forth impatiently, being more alive than usual. Hmm, that's odd."I'm sorry to disturb you, but do you mind telling my friends and I where the closest park may be?" I asked politely as I gestured with my head toward Anthonio and Marcus who were waiting patiently a few feet away
Her eyes traveled towards them and her eyes widened once more. She stared at them for quite some time before looking back at me
"Well, the closest park from here is the Samson Park."
I nodded slowly, the sound of the name seeming familiar somehow.
"And where is that located exactly?
Without turning around, she pointed in the direction we were heading before saying,
"If you continue walking, it's two blocks from here and to your left. Although, the park should be closing by now. You better hurry if you want to get there on time"
"Thanks. Really appreciate it," I said with a bright smile before heading off in that direction with Anthonio and Marcus close behind. I could still feel her questionable eyes on us, but I paid it no mind. There were more important things at hand
"Well, she was kind of cute," Marcus said with a wiggle of his eyebrows and broad grin on his face
Anthonio and I merely rolled our eyes without uttering a word as we continued following the young girl's directions. Within a few minutes time, we were face to face with the park's entrance, but were immediately disappointed when we noticed the lock on the metal doors
Marcus walked up and grabbed the lock in his hand, analyzing it before turning back to us.
"We can easily break it," he suggested with hopeful eyes
I shook my head.
"No, they'll know someone from outside their pack broke in. We need to find another way inside"
"Well, not here," Anthonio said in a rather low voice that only we could hear.
"We need to find somewhere to enter in a more vacant area. There's too many people"
At his last words, Marcus and I looked around and noticed a few passersby staring at us suspiciously. Some murmured things to each other (as if we couldn't hear them), while others kept glancing in our direction, possibly expecting us to do something illegal. Humans.
I let out a frustrated groan before making my way around the entrance where I could no longer catch the scent of humans. Hopefully we would get lucky enough where we wouldn't have to worry about a human catching us jumping over the fence
It took us a bit longer than usual, but when we were absolutely sure that there was nobody around, we allowed our wolves to step forward before leaping into the air and over the fence. We landed perfectly on the other side, our boots barely making a sound as we observed the area. It was practically completely covered in trees and the sound of scurrying critters filled our ears. There was no one around, well, from what we could tell. The only scent that filled our nostrils was that of the small pond nearby and the freshly cut grass
"What now?" Anthonio asked quietly
I looked around me for a bit before facing them.
"Shift. Make sure to carry your clothes with you in case you need to shift back.
Marcus looked at me with bewilderment and an arched eyebrow.
"Don't you mean we?" Marcus looked at me with bewilderment and an arched eyebrow.
"Don't you mean we?"
I shook my head in response
"No. I'll remain in my human form"
"But what if someone attacks us?" Anthonio asked worriedly. I know he wasn't exactly concerned for their own safety but rather my own. And I understood why. While we are in our wolf forms, we are able to protect ourselves better than in our human one. Right now, I was completely vulnerable if a werewolf was to attack
I gave them a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry about me. Shift and patrol the area. Let me know if you catch Fiona's scent nearby"
They nodded without uttering another word before disappearing behind a set of trees in either direction. The sound of crackling bones and skin shredding reached my ears before I heard a set of heavy foot falls head towards me. Within seconds, a large dark brown wolf and a gray one appeared on either side of me with their clothes locked between their sharp teeth. I nodded to both of them before ordering them to patrol. Anthonio took the western side of the park while Marcus took the eastern. When they were completely out of range for me to hear, I began to slowly walk forward, keeping my senses on high alert in case a pack member was to be running by at this early hour of the night
