Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 53
Blake's
Seeing our distraction as an opportunity, Maxwell lunged forward, pinning us back on the ground and snapping at us. He made a move for our neck, but my wolf managed to squirm to the side, avoiding his large canines by mere inches. I glared up at my brother, growling as my wolf pushed him off once more.
He stumbled back a little, only to regain his composure in mere seconds. My wolf climbed to his feet, growling and snapping at him.
'Listen to her cries, brother! Listen to your mate suffer!' Maxwell screamed in my mind the second I felt my right hind leg give out slightly. Another massive wound began to appear and my wolf whimpered at the pain. We stumbled back, my wolf trying his best not to put too much of our weight on that leg as we faced Maxwell.
'Enjoy her screams now, because you won't live long to see her ever again.'
With that, he pounced forward and my wolf managed to get out of the way, clawing at his hind leg which sent him howling in pain. Feeling the wound heal itself slightly, we lunged forward, jumping into the air and coming down on Maxwell's smaller form. He took a bite out of his left shoulder as he pinned him down. With another yelp of pain, Maxwell pushed us off, snapping at us as he struggled to stand up from the ground
'Hurts, doesn't it?' I taunted, my wolf letting out a huff of air as he laughed along with me
He growled, shaking his fur before making another attack. Seeing that he was faltering due to the large bite my wolf gave him, we moved fast, his eyes widening once he noticed that we were now behind him. Without a second thought, my wolf grabbed a hold of his hind legs with both paws, digging his claws deep into his flesh which sent him howling once more in pain. My wolf relished the sound as he swung him around before letting go, sending him to hit one of the trees on the edge of the clearing. The tree shook from the impact, but still stood strong above the now limp Maxwell
My wolf breathed heavily, walking forward cautiously with slow steps. We could tell that he was having some difficulty breathing due to the way his back was moving up and down rapidly. His eyes were closed and there was a small puddle of blood forming below his torso where his body hit. He was motionless, the only thing showing that he was alive was his heavy breathing and the fast beating of his heart that reached our ears
Suddenly, his head snapped upward and he let out a thunderous growl, shocking my wolf and I both before he jumped on us. He pinned us down on our side, his paw pressed against our neck, making it difficult to breathe. His wolf let out a soft chuckle as I noticed his eyes turn a lighter shade, showing that he was stepping forward to give us one last look before he ended us right then and there
'Goodbye, little brother. And don't worry, I'll take really good care of Fiona.
Another overwhelming rush of pain took over our body as we felt a large cut form right in the middle of our neck. My wolf let out a yelp of pain, earning another chuckle from Maxwell. I could feel myself slipping away. I had no idea why but I suddenly felt faint, as if I just wanted to sleep forever and never wake up. I could feel my wolf calling out to me as he struggled under Maxwell's grasp, but it was hard to decipher what he was saying. I tried to shake away the sensation that was now taking its toll on me, but it was nearly impossible. It was as if I was saying goodbye to everyone I have ever known and loved, knowing that I would never see them again. Why was I feeling this way? And that's when it hit me.
I pushed my wolf back, snapping myself out of the trance I was previously in and ignoring my wolf's growls. I let out a menacing growl that made Maxwell freeze above me. I smiled inwardly at his reaction before I turned my neck and grabbed onto his front leg. He immediately retreated, yelping in pain as he bounced around the clearing. Without a second thought, I lunged forward, pinning him to the ground in the same way he was doing to me moments before. This was all my doing. My wolf was simply waiting patiently in the back of my mind in case I needed any assistance. He looked up at me in fear, his mouth opening and closing as if he wanted to speak, but I was forbidding for any source of air to enter his lungs. His body squirmed beneath me, but I held him in place with my own. Pressing my paw harder against his neck, I whispered venomously at him through my mind, 'Goodbye, Maxwell.'
His eyes opened wide as I forcefully pressed downward, hearing his neck crack beneath my heavy weight and watched as the life in his eyes faded. The only thing that stared at me now was a hollow shell of what used to be my brother.
Panting, I took a step back, watching as he slowly turned back into his human form. His body was limp and I couldn't help but wince as I stared at the large puddle of blood that was now surrounding his neck. His head was twisted in a way that made my stomach turn over. I instantly looked away, letting out a piercing howl into the night air, alerting that Maxwell, my brother and the Alpha's eldest son, was dead
I could hear the other wolves come to a halt before heavy footsteps began to make their way towards the trees. I knew the rogues were retreating after seeing that their leader was now lying dead before an Alpha. Although my howl was a way to notify the others that he was indeed dead, it was one filled with sorrow. This was never the path I wanted to take when it involved my brother. I never wanted to be the one to end his life at such an early age
'It had to be done,' my wolf consoled, an overwhelming surge of sympathy erupting inside of me. I knew it was him, especially since I was the one who had killed my brother, not him
Before I could respond, my wolf snapped at me and pushed forward before making his way toward the metal door. It was closed shut but my wolf paid it no mind. Shifting his body slightly, he slammed his shoulder against the door, ripping it off its hinges as it crashed onto the dirt ground with a heavy thud.
The space was quite small and only a few male men were able to stand in the room we were in now. My wolf looked up at the other metal door, tearing it down as well only to reveal one of our worst nightmares
Sitting on the muddy ground with blood oozing out of her fragile body and her arms held above her head by chains was none other than our mate. Her eyes rolled upward before her head fell on her right arm, her breathing slowing down. Behind her stood a man with a venomous smile on his features. That smile quickly faded the second he noticed who we were. Without a second thought, my wolf lunged forward, snapping the rogue's neck in two as we watched his head roll around on the floor a few feet in front of his lifeless body
I shifted back into my human form the second my wolf stepped back, allowing me to take over. I made my way to Fiona, grabbing her face in my hands and inspecting her injuries. Although I had not felt them, she had bruises all over her face and her left eye was gradually swelling up before my very eyes
"Fiona, Fiona sweetie, I'm here. Fiona, look at me."
At the sound of my voice, her eyes fluttered open and a small smile spread across her lips. It wasn't her full smile that she always gave me, but it was enough to let me know that she was somehow okay.
"Blake," she whispered before her eyes rolled heavenward. Her breathing subsided as she allowed her head to fall against the palm of my hand.
"No. Fiona, no. Baby, come back to me. This can't be happening. Fiona, please don't go. You have no idea how much I need you," I said through tears. My vision blurred but it wasn't enough for my wolf and I not to be able to see her beautiful face. My wolf howled in pain inside me, making me shake with anger and grief all at once.
"Fiona, please don't leave me. It didn't have to end like this."
'Blake! Where are you?' Marcus voice asked.
I shook my head.
'Follow my scent and search the clothing that are outside the small hill I'm in. See if you can find a key.' Even through the mind link, I could easily sense how defeated my voice turned out to be.
'Are you okay, man? What's wrong?'
'Just do it!' I screamed, allowing my Alpha voice to take over. He didn't answer and I was relieved to hear heavy footsteps just outside the room I was in. Before I knew it, Marcus emerged in his human form and handed me a small key which I hoped to be the one that would release my mate from her hold. I could feel Marcus stiffen behind me after he noticed who was also in the room.
Much to my relief, the key fit in perfectly in its slot and I was holding my mate in my arms. I pulled her close, my nose twitching as the smell of her blood filled my nostrils.
"Just get a pack doctor, NOW!"
"Is she….?" Marcus asked, his voice failing him as he took in Fiona's appearance.
Without another word, Marcus retreated and made his way back to the others. I swayed back and forth with her in my arms, tears streaming down my face as I held her close to my side. I could feel her heartbeat against me, but it was extremely weak. I stared down at her angelic face, a surge of pain rushing through my heart as I analyzed her. That bastard had beaten her senseless, and all because of me.
'It's not your fault, Blake,' my wolf said, but I could sense the pain in his tone.
I shook my head silently, praying to the goddess that my mate would be alright. She couldn't leave me now. We had just found each other.
As I waited for the pack doctor to arrive, I began to kiss every wound that was now marked on my precious mate's body. My hands shook as I tried to focus at the task at hand and not her slow beating heart. The mere sound broke my own, but I carried on. I had to keep faith that she will make it. She had to make it. She just had to.
