Werewolf
Lycan's Mate (His Claim) Chapter 122
Fiona's POV
A low grunt brought our attention back to the man lying between us. Blake instantly stood up to get a better look at my now waking father. My dad groaned out loud before opening his eyes. They seemed distant for a bit before they focused in on me
"Fiona?" he uttered, his voice rather hoarse
"Dad? Are you okay?" I asked, leaning forward to help him sit upright
He shook his head, running a hand through his hair as he tried to grasp onto his surroundings.
"Yeah, but I had the strangest dream. I was dreaming about you telling me that Blake was a werewolf and he-"
At that moment, my dad had decided to turn to his right and come face to face with Blake in his wolf form. He simply stared at my mate, his eyes widening before he let out a loud scream that even caused a few birds in the distance to take flight
My dad pushed himself away from Blake and towards me, leaning back against his elbows as he breathed in heavily. I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. If only I had a camera
"It's okay, dad," I reassured him, placing a hand on his left shoulder
"Is that really….." he trailed off, tilting his head once more to analyze Blake. He had to strain his neck a bit because Blake was currently standing and towering over my father at the moment
I nodded, looking up at my mate as he slowly took a step back and sat down on his hind legs as he did before. He tilted his head as he stared at my father, mimicking his movements. Now he was just messing with him
"But, I thought…."
"Yeah, me too," I said with a laugh
"So this…..this is really Blake." It wasn't a question. I merely nodded in response. "But why is he so…..big?"
Blake let out a soft growl and a huff. I guess he was offended because he thought my dad was calling him fat. How cute
"Remember how I said that werewolves have packs and different ranks? Well, Blake here so happens to be the next Alpha of this pack, which explains his size. Alphas tend to be bigger than regular wolves. My dad's eyes widened once more.
"Alpha?"
I couldn't help but notice how Blake straightened his stance and took on a proud demeanor. I was so close to smacking the smug look off his face. He was clearly enjoying this a bit too much, if you ask me.
My dad remained quiet for some time before nodding slowly.
"Well that would explain why you always looked intimidating before," he said quietly as he sat upright and adjusted his position.
"But wait, if he's the next Alpha, doesn't that make-"
"Westley the current Alpha, yes," I finished for him.
"So, my boss is a werewolf as well? Let alone the Alpha of this pack?" my dad nearly shrieked. I simply nodded.
"But wait, what pack are they the Alpha of?"
"The Black Forest Pack, hence the name of the town and their surname."
It seemed like the dots were slowly starting to connect in my father's brain because he merely opened his mouth as if to say 'oh'.
Silence filled the air between us, only the sound of the wind coursing through the trees reaching our ears. Some time had passed before my dad's voice finally broke the silence.
"Then wait….if werewolves are real and there is such things as an Alpha, a Beta, and…..what was the other one you said?" He asked, peering up at me.
My cheeks blushed a little as I responded,
"Luna."
"Luna…..what is a Luna anyway? It sounds like a Queen or something," he said slowly, staring down at the grass deep in thought.
"Well, I guess you can say that. A Luna is a female, and she's the Alpha's mate. So I guess you can call her the Queen of the pack, while the Alpha is the King. They're the natural leaders , so Blake would be considered the next rightful King, in this case," I said, looking up at Marcus. He tilted his head adorably at my choice of words.
"The Alpha's mate…." he trailed off. Shoot, I was hoping he wouldn't catch onto that part. "
You mean like a soulmate?" he asked, looking up at me.
"Sort of-" I stopped at the sound of Blake growling at me. My dad instantly jumped at the noise but I simply glared up at him.
"Okay fine, yes, like a soulmate. Every werewolf is given a mate at the time of birth. A mate is like their other half, and once they find each other after a certain age, they're destined to be together until the end of time."
I didn't want to go into more detail on that. My dad was already doing his best to grasp onto every newfound information I spoke.
My father contemplated my words, staring down at the grass once more before looking up at Blake. His eyes remained fixated on my mate for some time before they landed on me. His gaze was so intense that I couldn't help but to fidget uncomfortably in my spot beside him.
"So, are you and Blake…..mates?"
My blush deepened as I looked up at Blake. His eyes were shifting color as he stared intently my way. The sparks that somehow ignited between us, despite the distance, strengthened as we looked into each others eyes. It was as if the entire world had faded away with only us remaining in place. I could stare into their dark abyss for days on end, never once getting tired of losing myself within them. Even without contact, I felt whole staring in
"I'll take that as a yes," my dad said with a cough.
I blinked a few times before looking over at him.
"What?"
He chuckled.
"I said: I'll take that as a yes," he repeated, looking back at Blake with a smile. Any fear he had towards the wolf sitting in front of him seemed to have dissipated completely.
"Wait, how-?"
"Oh come on now, Fiona, I may have dealt with a heavy loss that caused me to cast myself away from everyone, but I know the look of true love when I see it. You and Blake always shared that connection from the moment I met him, I just never knew why yours was so strong. But now, I can see why," he said with a soft smile.
I only blinked at him. That's all I could really do at this point because even I was astounded at how observant he was. I guess my dad really did catch onto certain things I never thought he would have to begin with.
His eyebrows furrowed once more as he looked over at Blake.
"Is it normal for a werewolf to be mated to a human, though?"
Blake let out a small growl as his eyes darkened. My dad was taken back by the change in demeanor, but Blake merely shook his head in response which instantly caused my dad to look at me in shock.
"It's not?" he asked worriedly.
"Dad….I'm the first human to be mated to a werewolf. An Alpha wolf to be exact. It's never happened before in their history."
"So, there isn't anyone else like you?" I shook my head.
"But….doesn't that make you, I don't know, prone to danger though? You don't have their abilities, so doesn't it make you an easy target?"
At that, Blake growled even louder than before and stood up in one swift movement. He made his way over to me and pressed the side of his body against my back. He bared his teeth at my father, his shoulders blades rising as he crouched down in a defensive stance. That definitely made my dad widen his eyes in fear.
I stroked Blake's fur, my eyes staring intently at the grass beneath me.
"Sadly, it does. I'm not only a human mate, but I'm the first human Luna. A Luna is supposed to be strong and the backbone of the pack. So seeing as someone like me was chosen to be with Blake, well….let's just say that having a human as the Luna of the strongest pack in the world makes it an easier target."
As I looked back up at my dad, I couldn't help but notice how his eyebrows had pulled together, only to quickly relax as he stared at me sadly. Reaching over, he rested his palm against my arm with a smile.
"If that's the case, then I know that Blake here would always protect you," he said, looking up at the massive wolf standing behind me.
"If there is anyone I want to be at my daughter's is Blake lifted his head, his eyes widening as they shifted back to their original dark brown."
"But that doesn't mean I won't hunt you down if you ever hurt her," my dad warned. And he's back folks.
I shook my head with a laugh as I stood up, dusting a bit of grass off my leggings. Reaching down, I helped my dad stand up, quickly wrapping my arm around his waist when I realized he was about to fall over again. Blake seemed to take notice because he too rushed over to his other side. My dad suddenly let out a bark of laughter as he looked down at Blake.
"Who would have thought that I would have a werewolf for a son-in-law?"
My cheeks blushed an even brighter red as I felt Blake's heavy gaze on me once more. I knew deep down that werewolves didn't believe in marriage, so having him as my dad's official 'son-in-law' was not a remote possibility. As much as I would have loved to have been known as Mrs. Fiona Black, I wasn't holding my breath on that title. Simply being his mate and calling him mine would always be enough for me.
Smiling up at my dad, Blake and I continued to help him into the house. Well, more like I did because Blake struggled to even make it through the door on his own. He really had grown even larger in size, it seems.
After helping my dad to settle down on the couch to rest his head after the fall, Blake made his way back towards the forest, no doubt going back to retrieve his clothing before shifting back into his human form. I smiled as he disappeared through the trees. Today had definitely gone a lot smoother than I thought it would. Well, as smooth as it could go when you're revealing to your dad that your boyfriend was a werewolf.
Looking down at my dad who was now suddenly passed out with an arm draped over his eyes, I couldn't help but smile. My dad was finally in on the Black Forest werewolf secret. For once in my life, it was as if a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulders.
de, it's you.
