Kai’s P.O.V

“You went to play gold with Mr. Williams?” Night folded his arms across his chest, his frown deepening with every passing second. “The School principal?”

“Come on, babe, it was just a stupid game!” I sighed, rubbing at my temples. “I didn’t even score and stood off to the side listening to him talk about charity and stuff!”

“You know what he’s like, Kai! How could you?” He snapped, his temper flaring.

And to add insult to injury, Kelly rounded the corner at that moment, her backpack slung over her shoulders as she picked up an apple from the fruit basket on the table. “Also…word has it that he targets hot DILF’s, especially married ones.” She added with a smug smile.

“Kelly! What the hell!” I snapped at my seventeen year old daughter, who simply shrugged and stood to the side, munching on her apple. “You’re just making this worse!”

“I’m just saying what the mom’s are saying.” She shrugged again.

“And how, pray tell, do you know what all the mom’s are saying?” Night turned to face her, his eyes narrowed and I breathed a sigh of relief, glad to not be on the receiving end of that anger.

Twenty five years of marriage and you’d think you’d get used to your husband’s temper? I guess some things just don’t change. Our love for each other and our overwhelming sense of jealousy.

“What?” Kelly whined, making a pouty face. “I was taking a break at the bleachers and the moms were right behind me! They kept on saying how the Princi was aiming for some of the hot guys and how they were all ‘DILF’s’ even they would kill to have a piece of.”

“Dear god! Stop saying that blasted word!” Night snapped, before controlling his tone and taking a deep breath. “Fine, no more gossip for you and you!” He turned back to me, fixing me with another glare that had me holding up my hands in surrender. “No more golf!”

“I don’t even like golf.” I gave him a sheepish smile. “Unless you’re the one in front, and I’m teaching you how to play…bend over.”

“KAI!” Night’s face turned beetroot red and Kelly all but chocked on thin air.

“Goodness gracious! My ears!” She screeched. “Hey Nemo! I’m borrowing your car!”

A second later, the sound of a door opening from the first floor reverberated through the entire house as our son emerged from his cave to give his sister a mean look. “It’s Neema, bitch! So forget about the car!”

“Neema!” I narrowed my eyes at him. “That is no way to talk to your sister! Apologize”

“Did you not hear her call by a stupid clown fish?” He screeched, pointing an accusing finger at his sister. “She should be the one to apologize to me!”

“No freaking way!” Kelly snapped back. “He stole my headphones and hasn’t returned them yet and you guys forgave him since he was going to college! But why should apologize to him?!”

“Alright, enough!” Night finally stepped in, his voice booming through the hallway, cutting off both our teenager and our twenty two year old son, who was currently home from Yale for the holidays.

“Listen you two, it’s Christmas and I need to get the house in order and buy gifts for everyone in the family, so if you two don’t behave, the only gift you’ll be getting is a can of sardines!”

“Paaa!” They both groaned at the same time.

“Don’t make me shift it to anchovies.”

I held back my laughter, watching the life drain from my kid’s eyes as they looked at their father in disdain. But in the end, they both looked at each other and said ‘sorry’ at the same time, before Kelly left the house, slamming the front door on her way out, and Neema did the same with his room.

Night let out a sigh and plopped down onto the sofa, a tired sigh escaping his lips as he pressed his fingers to his temples. “Seriously…I can’t say I miss this when Neema is gone. Were we this bad when we were young?”

I could definitely ensure we were ten times worse, but I didn’t say that out loud.

I chuckled and picked up the mugs from the kitchen counter that I had silently been preparing. “Here, this might help.”

I handed him the hot chocolate cup, with three marshmallows on top. Night took it gratefully, but gave me a guilty look. “Isn't this too early for hot chocolate?”

“It’s even earlier for Bourbon,” I shrugged, taking a seat beside him. “And we still have the whole day ahead of us.”

Sighing, Night leaned against me, the tension leaving his shoulders as he took a sip of the hot chocolate. “Hmmm…so good. You know exactly what I like.”

“I do.” I pressed a kiss to his temple, before taking a sip of my own mug. “What are we getting your family this year? The usual wine or something new this time?”

“I’m thinking of getting my mom a rocking chair.” Night shrugged. “Damn…can’t believe we’re getting old. It feels like yesterday when we were at the altar, exchanging vows. And now…everyone’s calling us DILF’s! Can you believe that?”

“Well…I can’t really argue with them.” I smirked, wrapping an arm around his shoulders to haul him closer. “I would fuck you even if you were old and wrinkly and grey haired.”

Night looked up at me with wide eyes, before a sly grin spread on his lips, one tha mirrored my own.

“You know…Kelly just went for practice…and won’t return till two.” He grinned suggestively.

“And Neema is in his room, playing online games with his buddies.” I placed the cup on the table. “Maybe…”

“We can make use of the time?” Night finished my sentence.

Without another word, I got up from the couch and lend him my hand. Night took it immediately and we both headed straight for our bedroom, our lips locking together the instant the door closed behind us.

Over thirty years of togetherness and my love for this man never fades. Yes, we had faced our fair share of ups and downs, but when I was with him, it was all worth it.

And no matter how much time passed, no matter what else lay in our path. As long as we were together…nothing else mattered to us.

“I love you.” Night whispered as we lay next to each other on the bed. “More and more every day.”

“And I love you.” I told him. “Till the sun stops shining and the earth stops spinning. I will love only you. Forever.”

The END…
