The Bad Boy's Dirty Little Secret BL Chapter 50: An Unwanted Topic
Night’s P.O.V
Kai and I sat across from Devon on the dining table while Landon served us all breakfast, before taking the seat next to Devon like the lovey-dovey couple they were.
Kai and I followed the movement, awestruck. What the fuck was even going on?
“Since when?” I found myself asking the two idiots who had managed to keep their relationship not only private, but completely non-existent until this point of time. And from the looks of it…they weren’t a new couple.
“Two months.” Kai was the one to answer, much to my surprise.
“You knew?” I turned towards him accusingly. “Since when?”
“Last night.” He sighed, rubbing at his temples. “I called back when you hung up and it was Devon who answered. He told me last night that they have been together for the past two months.”
I turned back towards the couple, who were quietly enjoying their breakfast like I wasn’t just on the verge of ripping out my best friend’s hair.
“What the hell! I’m your best friend, Lan!” I reminded him, only for him to shrug and look down at his plate sheepishly. “You have been dating him for two whole months and yet, you never once let us know?”
“I don’t want to announce it to the world, Night.” Landon glared at me. “Some things are better off left private. And you’re one to talk! You act like you and Kai aren’t together, but you’ve been fucking all morning! And don’t ask me how I know! This damned house had bloody thin walls!”
Kai chocked on his coffee as soon as the words left Landon’s lips, and I couldn’t help but find the fan on the ceiling incredibly fascinating.
“Looks like we need to refill that bedside drawer, babe.” Devon said with a sigh…making me choke on thin air.
“Babe?” I raised my eyebrows at Landon, before turning to Devon.
“What? You guys don’t have a nickname for each other or something?” Devon looked confused as he turned to Kai. “It’s fun! You guys should try it out.”
“Sure…” Kai drawled out, fixing Devon with a glare. “Sugarplum.”
“Not me, bitch!” Devon shouted, almost like he was offended. “Him! Your boyfriend is right beside you!”
“Let’s change the subject, shall we?” Landon asked, raising his voice like he was trying to discipline a bunch of misbehaving kids. “Night. Mind telling me what exactly happened last night that you came all the way here unannounced and just started drowning in booze without an explanation?”
Suddenly, all eyes were on me, and to say that it was a bit uncomfortable…would be an understatement.
The weight of their curious and worried gazes bore down on me as I looked down at my untouched plate, trying to find words with which I could explain to them the shit-show that my life had just turned into.
However, the last thing I wanted was for Kai or anyone else to worry about me and what my parents had planned for my near future. For the time being, I could handle it, or at least I thought I could.
“I just…don’t want to talk about it right now.” I sighed, unable to form any other excuses.
“You’ll have to talk about it eventually,” Kai placed a hand on my shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze to let me know that he was here for me.
“I know, it’s just…I don’t think I’m ready yet.” I gave them a half-hearted smile, hoping that the prying would go away.
“Is this about your parents?” Landon asked, knowing how difficult my parents were when it came to accepting my sexuality.
“Yes.” Was all I could tell them at the moment.
“So…” Devon, probably sensing my unwillingness to talk, decided to change the subject. “You guys will be staying for lunch? Or will you be heading back to your dorms?”
“Is that a polite way to ask us to get lost, Dev?” Kai raised his eyebrows at Devon, who merely smiled in reply.
“We’ll leave.” I told them, so they wouldn’t have to worry about us invading their privacy. “Kai and I will head back to the dorm.”
“You sure about that?” Landon looked at me worried. “Are you sure your father doesn’t have spies in place to check on your whereabouts?”
Shit! How could I have forgotten that?
“That’s alright.” Kai cut in, looking more confident than I felt. “I know a place we can go. His parents won’t have a clue about it.”
“Ummm…guys?” Devon looked around the room confused. “Will someone be kind enough to fill me in on what exactly is going on here? Why are you guys hiding away from Night’s parents like they’re the mafia or something?”
“Trust me, they’re worse.” Landon patted his boyfriend’s shoulders in a way that told me that he would be filling him in on my life-history as soon as I’m out of sight.
Oh well, it’s not like it’s a secret anyway. And if Landon could trust Devon, then so could I.

Kai parked the car in front of an apartment building that looked like it had seen better days, however, it didn’t exactly look old and rundown either.
“Where are we?” I asked as I unlocked my seatbelt.
“Remember that place I told you about? The one that my sister’s friend was renting?”
Ah!
“You got the place?” I looked at him expectantly. “You can finally move out of the dorm?”
“Not just yet.” Kai laughed, taking the keys out of the ignition and opening the door. “Come on, let’s see what condition the room is in so I know how much renovation would be needed.”
I followed Kai out of his sister’s car and we both headed inside the building. It may not look all that good from outside, but the security did seem okay-ish. The doors only opened when a certain code was entered and the guard stationed outside had to verify and note down the purpose of our visit.
Once inside, we headed up to the fifth floor and Kai took me to the apartment at the very end of the hallway.
“You sure this is a good place?” I looked around skeptically. “It doesn’t seem like a nice neighborhood to me.”
“It’s fine, Night.” Kai tried to reassure me as he fumbled with the lock. “It’s only fifteen minutes away from school and has a good security, plus…you haven’t seen the view yet.”
“Right.” I wasn’t all that enthusiastic about the view since the apartment itself was pretty…unappealing. But that was until Kai finally managed to open the door and I saw what the hype was about. “Wow…”
“See?” Kai grinned, pulling me into the room and shutting the door behind us.
The room wasn’t huge, it consisted of a small kitchen right by the entryway, followed by a bathroom on the other side and then the hallway opened up into one single room that would serve as the bedroom, however the most interesting feature wasn’t the room itself, but the full glass wall at the back, that overlooked a forested area and a large lake.
“Gorgeous, isn't it?” Kai came to stand next to me as we both watched the sunlight shimmer on the surface of the water.
“It is.” I mused. “Why didn’t you choose to stay here in the first place? When your sister’s friend offered to rent it to you?”
“I don’t know honestly,” Kai sighed, leaning against the glass. “This felt more like a couple’s nest. To stay here alone would’ve felt lonely, if I didn’t have anyone to share this view with.”
I turned to him with raised eyebrows. “Since when are you this cheesy?”
“You just haven’t seen all sides of me yet.” He grinned. “So? Thoughts? I think this place just needs some paint and furnishing and it should be good to go.”
I nodded in agreement. The exterior might look a bit rundown, but the view compensated for everything. “Why did the old tenants leave? Don’t tell me there’s some kinda creepy shit here that I should know about?”
“Don’t tell me you actually believe in ghosts!” Kai laughed out, holding onto his tummy, before he shook his head. “Nah, the woman who stayed here got a job at some hospital in Ontario. So she had to move states.”
I nodded, looking out the window once again with a sigh. It was peaceful here, away from all the family drama. And Kai didn’t even know that I had a fiancé, let alone the fact that she was back early to make our engagement official.
It was a good thing that I had turned my phone off for the time being, and left it behind at Landon’s house so that my parents couldn’t trace me here. If they did get to Landon’s, he was more than capable of handling their shit. However, I was a bit worried if Rosalie would show up at his house as well.
I guess I just have to hope for the best.
“You wanna…talk about it?”
Startled, I looked up to find Kai staring at me with an unreadable expression. Almost like he had been observing me for quite some time now.
“I…um…” I should tell him. Everything in me told me that it would be the best decision if I just told him all the shit I was going through and be done with it.
But on the other hand, my heart wasn’t ready for it just yet. What if he left? What if he thought I came with too much baggage for him to continue this relationship?
Kai was the only person I had met in my life who didn’t look at me with pitying eyes when he found out how I had gone through sexual abuse. He was the only man who didn’t turn his back on me even when my parents treated him like shit and stopped him from visiting me.
He was the first man who waited for me…
And I didn’t want it all to go away. I couldn’t let it all go away.
“It’s…nothing.” I shook my head, forcing a smile as I leaned my head on his strong shoulders. “Just a shitty argument with my parents.”
“Are you sure about that?” One of his arms came around my waist to hold me closer, and I forced myself to nod my head. “You know you can talk to me about anything, right? I’m always here for you.”
“Yes. I know.” And that’s why I needed to keep my own secrets, at least for now. So that I could keep Kai by my side for a little bit longer.
