The Bad Boy's Dirty Little Secret BL Chapter 31: Possessive Streak
Night’s P.O.V
Considering that Kai has been my shadow since last evening…why was I even surprised to find him standing outside my faculty building at 3PM, with poor Cole at his toe acting like his chauffer?
Did he really think I didn’t know that he had texted Cole this morning to get his car so he could drop me off at the faculty?
As cute as I found this whole possessive-dominant streak to be, and I’d rather he show it in bed than just boss me around, I could tell from Cole’s expression that he was both amused as well as annoyed at the two of us, especially at Kai.
Amused because Kai wasn’t always this sweet, so yeah, watching his bestie breaking a sweat trying to care for me was actually kinda cute. And annoyed because Cole now had to be dragged around everywhere behind the two of us, when he probably had much better things to do.
Also…the fact that pretty much every girl and a few men on campus were now checking out Kai, who was leaning against Cole’s dark red Mercedes Benz wearing his black T-shirt and denims, looking like a complete snack, didn’t make me feel any better either.
I would’ve liked nothing better than to kiss him right then and there and announce to everyone that Kai Hunter was mine, but unfortunately, he wasn’t. We were simply in a trial period that wasn’t getting anywhere, but at least thanks to my fever, I did get to cuddle Kai when we slept together last night. So that probably counted as some sort of progress…right?
“How’s he doing?” Was the first question he asked, not to me, but to Trey, who had been helping keep me company all this time.
I tried to warn him, to tell him not to, but the fucker was babbling even before I could jab my elbow into his sides.
“He almost fainted in class once.” Trey skillfully dodged the jab before returning back to my side. “His fever wasn’t going down well but the nurse gave him a few pills so it should be fine now.”
“That’s it.” Kai grabbed onto my arm. “You’re going back to the dorm with me, right now.”
I halted him before he could drag me into the car. “Wait! What about the photoshoot?”
“A photoshoot in the pool when you’re about to pass out from a fever? Are you nuts?” Kai snapped at me, pulling on my arm hard enough that I collided onto his chest, and probably would’ve lost my balance if his arm hadn't wrapped around my waist.
“Are you alright?” Concern laced his voice as he looked me in the eyes, trying to gauze my state.
I was tempted to say that I wasn’t, just so I could stay in the confines of his arms. But I knew it wasn’t possible. We had a shoot to get to and if I showed the slightest sign of weakness, Kai was going to grab onto that chance like a lifeline and use it against me as best as he could.
“Yes, Kai.” I took a shaky breath before steadying myself and speaking firmly, so he would listen instead of bossing me around. “I’m fine and I’m going to the photoshoot. The Student Council isn’t going to reschedule the shoot just because one person is sick and it might as well result in me getting disqualified!”
“So what?” Kai snapped, before lowering his voice when he saw a few heads turn. “So what if you get disqualified this year? There’s always next year and the year after! You just entered college, damnit! It’s not the end of your life!”
“You don’t understand! I can’t do that, Kai! Because-”
I stopped, unable to say the words.
“Because?” Kai raised his eyebrows expectantly.
Because this was the first time my parents were proud of me. Because this was the first competition they wanted to attend in my life…because this was the first time, despite being a model and working in small advertisements, my mother seemed interested in looking at my College website and voting on the contestant page.
“I need to.” I told him firmly. “That’s all you need to know.”
“Damnit!” Kai ran a hand through his hair in frustration before nodding his head. “Fine! Let’s go!”
Grudgingly, he opened the door for me, waiting until I got in before he went around and sat on the passenger’s seat next to Cole.
The empty seat beside be served as a reminder of just how angry he seemed and to be honest, if I was in his place, I would be just as frustrated if Kai had been acting like this. But what could I say? My problems with my family were mine to deal with and my relationship with Kai wasn’t yet at a stage where I could tell him everything about me…especially the dirty little secret that I was hiding.
Not yet.
“Gentlemen…we have arrived at the destination!” Cole announced as soon as he parked his car in front of the swimming pool area. “That would be three cheat sheets and four assignments.”
“None.” Kai glared at his best friend from the passenger’s seat. “I think you’ve forgotten all the times you’ve ‘borrowed’ money from me and forgotten to return it? If you have, why don’t I refresh your memo-”
“Come on now, Kai!” Cole let out a nervous laugh, unlocking his seatbelt in a hurry. “I was just joking, my best friend. It was a joke…don’t you get it?”
He got out of the car hastily and ran over to the passenger’s side to hold the door open for Kai, who simply ignored his friend and came over to my side and held the door open for me.
“You know…I can still get out of the car just fine.” I told him while stepping out.
“Come on,” Kai shook his head and held onto my elbow as he all but dragged me behind him inside the club.
“I’ll call you when we’re done.” He casually threw at Cole, who made a face at Kai behind his back, making me chuckle.
But just as we walked into the club, Kai suddenly let go of my arm, making me look up at him in confusion. I found Kai looking ahead, towards the pool and I followed his gaze to find almost the entire team present there.
Oh!
I guess that was the end of his possessive streak, huh?
I didn’t know why I even felt so disappointed? What were we to each other that I had to be disappointed that Kai let go of my hand? Besides, I’d never been one of those lovey-dovey people who liked holding hands with anyone anyways.
“Hey, Kai!” One of the guys from the group came forward to greet us. He was kinda cute with dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes and but he was more on the thinner side and the fact that he was nearly six four made him look even more attenuated.
“Night, this is Zachary Billard, our Student Council President and Zach; this is Night Winters…my dorm-mate.” Kai made the quick introductions, causing me to feel even more disappointed.
Dorm-mate? Couldn’t he have at least added friend? What was I to him even?
I didn’t even know why I kept asking myself that question so many times today. Maybe it was the fact that I was sick? Or the fact that Kai seemed to have two entirely different personalities?
In private, he was a completely different person. Someone who cared about me and took care of me regardless of my protests. However, as soon as he came in front of his friends or other people, he felt like a completely different person. Someone who was more withdrawn and tight-lipped. Or was he just like that with me?
“Come on then, let’s get ready!” Zach called out to everyone. “The trunks are in the changing room with your name on it! Go grab yours before someone else does!”
“Come on.” Kai called out as we headed to the changing room.
But my mind kept hopping back to the same question over and over again...until I collided into Kai’s back all of a sudden.
Startled and a little annoyed, I looked up at him with a frown. “Why did you stop?”
“M-maybe…we s-should wait till others are done c-changing…”
Kai’s face was bright red as he turned to face me, and even his eyes were widened slightly as he kept blocking my way to the changing room.
At first I was a little confused as to why he was doing that…until I got a peek behind him…and saw the array of asses and dicks in full display as the boys changed into their swim trunks…and I burst out laughing.
