The Bad Boy's Dirty Little Secret BL Chapter 54: Returning Home
Night’s P.O.V
I went into the washroom to sprinkle some water on my face as Kai had gone to drop Saya off to the bus stop, in case the creepy guy decided to show up all of a sudden.
I may not admit it in front of Kai, at least not yet, but I did realize that I had judged him unfairly and that too because of who he was in the past.
Of course, Kai was a major player. He had slept with women left, right and centre and never cared about a real relationship with anyone, not even Ruby. But Kai wasn’t the only one who had been into casual hookups and no-strings one-night stands.
I had been just like him.
But that all had changed the second our eyes met in that washroom, that night at the club when he had closed the door to protect our privacy. There had been something between us ever since, an unspoken connection that had passed between us from that very first eye contact, and no matter what, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that our connection was nothing ordinary.
It was soul deep and something I was meant to treasure for the rest of my life. Because Kai changed for me.
Yes, he took his time to decide. Yes, we had our far share of differences and will continue to have so in the future because we’re both strong personalities with strong opinions. But with Kai, I felt a sense of freedom, a sense of fulfillment that I had never felt before with anyone before.
Kai understood me, he understood my fears, my troubles and he understood my needs more than anyone else in this world, even my own parents.
I should’ve given him a chance to explain his side of the story before getting mad at him. I admit…it was a stupid thing to do and Kai reacted in a way that helped calm us both down rather than cause a fight.
“Yeah, babe, I get it! I know it’s important but so is this.”
The unknown voice broke me out of my trance as a man walked out of a stall, his phone held between his ears and his shoulders as he walked up to the basin to wash his hands.
At first, I didn’t pay attention to it, and just splashed some water on my face before using a paper towel to dry myself off. But the man kept on talking even as he washed his hand, and the tone of his voice as well as his obvious lies caught my attention.
“Babe, I know it’s our two year anniversary, but you can’t expect me to leave my sick grandmother in the hospital all by herself! I’m the only one she has!”
Wait a…damn minute…
Grandma? Hospital?
This bitch was all dolled up in fancy clothes and smelling like an entire bottle of Axe and he was just claiming to his girlfriend…or maybe wife, of two years, that he was at a hospital tending to his sick grandma? What the actual fuck?
I narrowed my eyes at his hands and noticed the very distinct mark of a ring on his left hand ring finger, but the ring in question was missing. As he proceeded to gaslight his ‘wife’ for missing their anniversary for a ‘valid’ reason, I understood what was going on very well.
He was having an affair, and I could bet my entire fortune that the person who he was here with definitely wasn’t his grandma.
“Okay, bye baby. I love you.”
The man finally ended the call and placed the phone on the counter, and it clearly read “WIFE” in caps with a red heart next to it. The motherfucker!
But when he noticed me looking at his screen, catching onto his obvious lie, he turned to me with a smirk. “Hey, don’t look at me like that. We’re all men here. Don’t tell me you never did something like this before!”
“No, I didn’t.” I told him in a deadpan voice. “And I don’t think I ever will.”
“Hah!” The man, who seemed to be in his mid-thirties, scoffed. “That’s because you aren’t married yet or your girl is a good one. Mine isn't. Not everyone is as lucky, dude.”
“Yes, you’re right.” I told him, looking him dead in the eyes as I spoke. “I’m incredibly lucky that my ‘man’, isn't like this and he’s been faithful to me since we started dating.”
The guy’s eyes widened as soon as I uttered the word ‘man’, as if I had just cursed him in some ancient language.
And then he all but took his phone and rushed out of the washroom, without even bothering to wipe his wet hands.
I shrugged, turning back to the mirror, a satisfactory smirk on my face as I finished up and went out to look for my ‘man’.

“Fujiyoshi…Y-girl…Hmmmm…” Kai mused, his eyes focused on the road as he got into his car. “I guess you learn new things every day, huh?”
“Welcome to a whole new world…” I sang the last part, trying to mimic Aladdin, but I was no singer, and in the end, it just made us both crack up like maniacs.
“So? Where to?” Kai asked finally, driving towards the freeway. “Do you want me to head to your condo or do you want to stay at mine? I can drop you off at Landon’s as well, if you want.”
But I knew that I could no longer deny the inevitable. My phone had been turned off and I had purposely dunked it in water at the washroom before getting into Kai’s car, because I didn’t want to open the phone when I already knew that there would probably be five hundred missed calls from my parents as well as Rosalie. And I needed a plausible excuse to show my parents why I hadn't picked it up.
“No.” I sighed, looking at Kai as we stopped at a red light. “I want to go home.”
Kai’s head snapped in my direction. “What?”
“I think it’s high time I go there.” I shrugged. “I can’t avoid them forever.”
“So…let me get this straight…you want to go home, even though you had suddenly rushed out of your condo two days ago and ended up at Landon’s house, gotten drunk as fuck and never told me the reason behind any of that, but now, all of a sudden you have a change of heart and want to go home?” Kai summed it all up for me, his expression incredulous. “Are you being serious right now?”
I wish I could tell him about exactly what I was going through, but even though I wanted to, I still couldn’t muster up the courage.
“I had another disagreement with my parents.” So I decided to go with half truths instead. “They deleted my agency’s contact from my phone and told me to quit modeling and side jobs and that I was to take over the family business after I graduated. But I don’t want that. So we got into a fight.”
Kai sat watching me for a good few seconds, and for an instance, I was worried that he was going to catch onto my lies. But then the cars around us began to honk, and we realized that the signal had turned green, so Kai started the car once again, and this time, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw him take the diversion that headed to my parent’s house.
“Thank you.” I whispered.
“Don’t thank me yet. I just might be tempted to get in there and slap some sense into your father.”
“Kai…” I warned.
“Fine, I’m sorry.” He sighed. “I’ll park the car far enough that no one would notice me.”
“Thank you.”
“You don’t need to keep thanking me, Night, just show up at school tomorrow so that I know you’re okay.”
His words struck a chord right through my heart, and I found myself swallowing a lump in my throat as I nodded. “I will.” My voice sounded raw even to my own ears. “Don’t worry, I will.”
He parked the car a block away from my house and before I got out, he hauled me in for a kiss that left me breathless and wanting so much more.
“We still have unfinished business.” Kai smiled into the kiss as he finally let go. “So you better show up or I’m going to break down that stupid door and drag you out of that house myself.”
“It’s a deal.” I answered breathlessly, before I took a deep breath and composed myself and taking my bag in my hands, got out of the car.
“Night.”
I halted before I could even take a step. Lowering myself to the window, I waited for Kai to speak.
“I love you.”
Stunned, I took a step back, and in that moment, Kai slowly reversed his car and drove away.
“Shit.” I didn’t say it back.
I stared after his car, Kai’s figure shrouded in darkness as the car slowly vanished out of sight, and I stood still for a good few minutes, not knowing what to do.
But I couldn’t yet deal with my emotions like I wanted to. The Winter’s mansion loomed right in front of me, and reluctantly, I began walking towards my house, placing one foot in front of the other until it was all but a repetitive action that needed to be done.
“Let’s do this.” I sighed as the automatic gates opened by my fingerprint, and I started my journey up the driveway.
Surprisingly, there were two other cars parked in the driveway that I didn’t immediately recognize. But I had an inkling as to who it might belong to.
The front door too was open, and when I entered, it was to find that my parents weren’t just sitting around waiting for me, but a party was in full swing, and only another family was invited. The Clearwater’s…Rosalie’s parents.
“Night!” Rosalie was the first person to notice me, and almost immediately, the low hum and the chatter in the room died down, to be replaced by and eerie silence.
And then my father got up from the seat and strode over to me, his face a mask of rage and disappointment.
And before I knew it, my head snapped to the side, my cheek burning from the sensation of the slap as I tasted iron in my mouth.
