The Bad Boy's Dirty Little Secret BL Chapter 36: Finding Out
Kai’s P.O.V
I had never wanted to punch a motherfucker in the face as badly as I wanted to fucking smash every single tooth in this motherfucker’s face.
The fact that I was saying this about a boy’s father…the same boy that I was debating having a physical relationship with and possibly even more…was a shock to me.
I do not even know how Night even tolerated this man, knowing the views he had about his own son, despite knowing that he was openly gay?
No wonder Night hated staying at his house even though he lived so close to the University. No wonder he didn’t even want to visit his father’s condos that he got for him, and was trying his best to earn his own money by modeling so he could get away from this man as fast as he could.
“No wonder he had a fever right after he visited your place.”
“What did you say?”
Surprisingly, this time, it was Night’s mother who looked up at me in shock when the words left my lips. And I didn’t regret one fucking second of it.
“The doctor told us that Night’s fever was caused by stress.” I told them both. “Don’t believe me? You don’t have to because the reports are with Dr. Palmer and you are free to consult him at any time. And since the two of you had no clue that your son was sick since his return from his trip to his own house during the weekends…what names should I be calling you?”
Suddenly, Mr. Winters was in my face, his hand grabbing my collar roughly.
But just when I thought that he would go for a punch, instead, he shoved me aside forcibly, tossing me out of the way so he and his wife could walk into the room as if nothing had happened.
“I didn’t fucking leave a fifty million dollar deal to squabble with a fucking teenager!” He grumbled as the door slammed shut after them, leaving me and my sister out in the hallway to gawked at the audacity of the people who had just appeared out of nowhere and startled the hell out of us.
“Bloody assholes!” Kia scoffed, stomping her heels on the ground as she crossed her hands across her chest. “I seriously wish that the hospital could refuse treatment to some patients depending on the behavior of their family or some shit like that!”
My head snapped in her direction. “No!” I shook my head immediately. “Night isn’t anything like his asshole parents. If anything, he probably got his fever because of them. He needs that treatment, Kia. And I need to know that you’ll be a good doctor to him!”
Kia looked at me, her eyes wide and expression flabbergasted as she tried to process my sudden outburst.
Yes, this was probably the very first time I had yelled at my sister like this, in this manner, in all seriousness and had actually meant it.
Any other time, she would have filleted my skin, layer by layer and fed them to the street dogs. Probably would’ve tossed in a few bones as well for added bonus.
But now, she sighed and shook her head. “Sorry.” She apologized, making my eyebrows disappear into my hairline in shock. “I was just being angry at what they said about you…I didn’t mean any harm to your friend.”
Friend…
That term now seemed too small in comparison to what Night meant to me right now.
“Let’s go, shall we?” Kia looked at her watch. “My shift ends in about ten minutes. I’ll drop you off at the dorm before heading back home. Or do you want to stay at home with me tonight?”
I debated on where I should stay.
I desperately wanted to stay here, in case Night woke and needed something. But I did realize that I was in no way trained to take care of him properly, so instead of helping, I just might end up getting in the way.
But I didn’t want to go back to my house either, because if Night’s condition got worse, there was no way I could sneak out in the middle of the night without having to answer at least a thousand questions about where I was going, why and what was so important about this particular friend that I had to leave to go see him at this hour.
“The dorm is better.” I told her. “I’ll stay there for the time being and I have plenty of Student Council work to deal with as well, since the competition is coming up.”
“Ah! That beauty pageant?” Kia sighed, shaking her head. “Fine, do as you wish.”
I wanted to protest at her ‘beauty pageant’ comment, but hadn't I been calling it that just a second ago as well? Then who was I to judge her?
“You go on ahead…I’ll just wait here.” I started to tell her but she shook her head.
“Kai, I get that you’re worried about your friend, but that’s a big no-no for me.” She sneered at the closed door to Night’s room. “I have no idea what Ken and his bimbo were smoking wrapped in their dollar bills, but they’re still high on that ass! So I’m not risking them coming out and hauling even more insults at you while I’m not here. Let’s go! You’re coming with me.”
“Kia…”
I tried to protest, but they fell on deaf ears as my sister caught a hold of my hand and began dragging me away in the direction of the doctor’s staff room/lounge room, where I needed to wait until I was done.
I turned back to look at the door one more time, in hopes that Night’s parents would just leave and I would get to stay. But that didn’t happen…and in the end, I was dragged behind Kiara until she finished her work, which definitely took more than ten minutes.

“Kai…Kai…wake up…Kai…”
Startled, I almost jumped up from my sitting position, only to be slammed back against my seat by the seatbelt, leaving me temporarily confused and completely disoriented.
I blinked the sleep from my eyes, wiping them with the back of my hands as I tried to process what had just happened.
The night was pitch black and the sound of crickets in the distance was a comforting background noise that had lulled me into sleep in the first place.
In front of me, the dorm buildings were still and silent; most of the lights had been turned off and the gigantic main gates closed tight and secured with two humongous locks. There was however, a tiny entrance by the side, that led in through the security office and I already knew that there would be a thousand questions on the way when I saw that the door was open, but to my surprise, Kia answered me even before I could ask her anything.
“I spoke to the watchman already.” She told me. “While you were sleeping. I went ahead and told him that you had just sent your friend to the hospital and that Night Winters will not be available for a few days.”
I nodded quietly, stretching my arms as much as her tiny car would allow me. “Thanks sis.”
“Don’t just thank me yet…that’s just the good news.” She said sheepishly.
I narrowed my eyes at her from the passenger’s seat. “And what’s the bad?”
Kia took a deep breath and let it out through her mouth, before finally turning to face me. “Night’s parents transferred him to his home.”
“What!” I snapped, astounded by the ridiculous decision. “How could they do that when he’s in that state?”
“Look…we had them sign a form that they were taking him away Against Medical Advice, but it was the only thing we could do.” She sighed. “They said that they had a family doctor who was going to fly here from the USA and that they didn’t trust their son with anyone but him.”
“That’s bullcrap!” I snapped, wanting to punch something very badly. “They just fucking wanted to get him out because you were his doctor!”
“I know that, but we can’t do anything.” She reached over and touched my shoulders lightly. “I’m sorry; Kai…but I couldn’t do anything.”
“Is that why you took so long?” I asked her, looking at the clock in the dashboard that read 3AM. “Because you guys were getting his discharge papers ready?”
I saw her nod from the corner of my eyes.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked her.
I could’ve gone to see him off. I wouldn’t have shown up in front of his parents…just…just made sure that he was alright from afar…
“They didn’t want you there.” She said in a weak voice. “They specifically asked for it.”
I nodded, un-strapping my seat belt and opening the door. “Thanks for dropping me off, sis.”
But as soon as my feet hit the concrete, Kia’s voice stopped me. “Kai.”
I closed the door and leaned in to look at her through the passenger’s side mirror. “What?”
“When are you going to tell me what’s going on between you and that boy?” She raised her eyebrows at me. “And don’t give me the ‘he’s just my friend’ bullcrap. I’ve known you long enough to tell the difference.”
Fuck!
Did I just…get caught?
