Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 110: World Peace Depends on the Illiterate

Cross shot Alvin a look of pure annoyance and said, "Dude, the Loom of Fate is like, the holy grail for the Assassin's Guild. It tells us who to take out to keep the world from going to hell in a handbasket. It's been around for like, two centuries. Every week, it spits out a name, and that person’s gotta go. Keeps the world running smooth, ya know?"

Alvin just shook his head, totally not buying it. Seriously, in this day and age, people still let a piece of fabric decide who lives or dies? These folks must be off their rockers!

With a frown, Alvin looked at Cross and asked, "So, did you guys take out Kennedy? What about Hitler? Is Tony on your hit list too?"

Cross frowned right back and said, "What’s that got to do with us? We only do what the Loom of Fate tells us. We take out the people who might mess up the world."

Alvin was done talking to this nutjob. They didn’t even handle Hitler, and they claim they’re keeping the peace? Either their goals are way too low, or that loom’s got some serious job selection issues.

Alvin figured it was all a big scam, cooked up by some old con artist who somehow managed to fool a bunch of people. Seriously, this guy should’ve gone into pyramid schemes; he’d be a natural!

Seeing the disdain on Alvin’s face, Megan surprisingly backed up Cross and said, "The people the Loom of Fate picks are definitely gonna mess up the world. Our job is to take them out. I’ve seen what happens when we don’t."

Alvin looked at Megan like she was nuts and sighed. Such a pretty girl, but totally out of her mind!

Alvin grinned and said, "So, you only kill people who deserve it before they can mess up the world? And you figure that out from a loom? You guys must’ve skipped college, huh? It’s scary to think the world’s being run by a bunch of dropouts. Ever think about how other people feel?"

Megan and Cross shouted together, "Shut up!"

Alvin just smirked at the two assassins and said, "So, you joined an assassin club and kill people for the greater good, all because a loom told you to. Where do you get your money for food?"

The two were caught off guard for a second, and Megan said with wide eyes, "We get donations from believers! And we have a slaughterhouse!"

Alvin laughed and pointed at Megan’s eyes, saying, "You’re totally lying. Your boss is a loom; how many believers do you think it has? And how does a non-profit like yours keep going?"

Cross, maybe because he’d had a falling out with the original boss, wasn’t mad at Alvin’s sarcasm. He said seriously, "The Assassin's Guild wasn’t always like this. We used to live like monks, self-sufficient. But then Sloan’s name came up in the loom, and everything changed."

Hearing Cross’s words, Megan angrily tried to break free from her restraints and shouted, "You’re lying! You’re the traitor! You deserve to die!"

Maybe because of the restraints, Megan’s movements made her look even more seductive. Alvin was momentarily stunned, then sighed again, feeling that talking to these fanatics was a waste of time.

Alvin pulled out his phone, smiled at Megan, and said, "Since you’re a looker, I’ll check out what your so-called Assassin's Guild is all about. I don’t care about your beef. Once you’re out of my sight, you can fight to the death for all I care. It’s got nothing to do with me!"

Turning to Cross, Alvin said, "Since you're my neighbor."

Jessica, sitting on the ground with one hand on her cheek, listened to the three of them like she was tuning into a wild story. She felt a bit sorry for the two of them, understanding the pain of being brainwashed. Looking at it this way, the sexy woman with the mistress vibe wasn't so annoying!

Ginny squatted on the ground, resting her cheeks in her hands, staring at the fool who almost shot her. She found this fool super interesting. Whenever she grabbed her dad's whaling fork and waved it around him, he’d freak out and cry.

His hesitant and scared look was so annoying! How could such a lousy guy survive until now? Ginny was really curious. There were no such people on Hellfire Boulevard!

Alvin dialed the phone and said with a grin, "Kingpin, it's Alvin!"

On the other end of the line, Kingpin laughed heartily and said, "Hey, Alvin. It's rare to get a call from you. Is there something going on at the school again? I thought that kid Ward should have given up on that piece of land!"

Alvin was caught off guard for a moment, then realized that Kingpin must have pulled some strings in the last incident. Although it didn't work, it was all for the school. If you want to send a few kids to school, I'll make sure they get into the best classes! Even if you go to jail, I'll make sure they graduate smoothly!

Alvin laughed and said, "The last thing went smoothly. The Handshake Association is not a big deal.

This time, I have something to ask you, if you know about it!"

Kingpin was silent for a moment and said, "As long as I think I can say it, I'll tell you. If I can't, I'm sorry, Alvin. You know we have some rules in this business, right?"

Alvin smiled and said, "No problem. I don't think it will be difficult!"

Kingpin paused and said, "Go ahead, I'm listening."

Alvin thought for a moment and said straightforwardly, "Do you know an organization called the Assassin's Guild?"

Kingpin was stunned for a moment, then laughed easily and said, "What? Alvin, are you looking for a hitman? I think your two subordinates are scary enough!

Or did someone from the Assassin's Guild offend you? I can call their boss and have him apologize!"

Alvin laughed heartily. Kingpin's tone indicated that he must know something. Alvin didn't say anything, turned on the speakerphone, and quietly waited for Kingpin to give him an answer.

Kingpin organized his thoughts and said, "The Assassin's Guild is a long-standing hitman organization. Their current boss is named Sloan. I don't know if that's his real name. They sustain themselves by taking assassination contracts. They now call themselves the Brotherhood of Assassins!

It's stupid. Organizations with such names usually end up badly!

But this organization is interesting. Their assassins are very skilled, their marksmanship is excellent, and they are fearless when working. Very useful, but not cheap!

What do you want with them? If it's to kill someone, there's no need to find them. I can have Patrick handle small matters for you!

If you want to cause them trouble, I only know their headquarters is in Scranton, not far from New York. I need to ask for the exact location!"

Kingpin, the old rogue, had no connection with the Assassin's Guild and had no qualms about revealing their details to Alvin!

Alvin smiled and thanked him, got Sloan's phone number, and looked at the stunned Megan with a smile, saying:

"See, it's the information age. I think you should go back and check if there's a network cable under that loom. Otherwise, how does it take orders?

Really, don't shut yourself off. Don't always keep your eyes closed. Open your eyes and look at the world!

You need to keep up with the times! Don't you think?"
