Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 139: Tony's Little Gain
Phil, who's got this big ol' sense of social duty, found a box and started packing up the Destroyer's iron head, getting it ready to ship back to S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ.
Feeling kinda sheepish about his actions, Phil turned to Alvin and said, "From now on, we'll keep the Lincoln Valley School library stocked with new books. That's a promise, long-term!"
"Alvin, thanks for everything you've done for this town. You've saved a lot of lives!"
Alvin just waved it off with a grin, "No biggie, man. I was just in the right place at the right time. That thing was kinda fun to chop up!
Even though I'm not your biggest fan, Phil, I gotta admit, you did good!"
Phil, not used to getting props from Alvin, got a bit excited. He smiled and said, "That's what we do at S.H.I.E.L.D. Handling stuff like that is our job."
Alvin nodded and turned his attention elsewhere. The job here was done, and it was time to head home!
"Hey, where are Ginny and the others?" Alvin asked Tony.
Tony shrugged and smirked, "I had my private jet take them back to New York as soon as I got the call. Oh, and your damn car too!"
Alvin grinned, "I knew you were a solid guy. I'll swing by your villa to grab my stuff. All my documents are there, and I wanna book the earliest flight back to New York!"
Tony wasn't thrilled about Alvin rushing back. He said, "Dude, you gotta stay a few more days. I won't sleep until I figure out that gadget!
Hang in L.A. for a bit, and we'll head back to New York together. I just got some ideas, maybe I can tweak the War God Mark III a bit!"
Alvin waved him off, "Nah, man. I don't know much about that thing, just how to use it. Hit me up if you got questions.
If I were you, I'd see if that leg can be modded. You saw how badass it was. Imagine if your Iron Man suit was made of that stuff?"
Tony stroked his chin, knowing Alvin had no reason to mess with him. After a moment, he said, "Alright, stay one more day. Help me out with the runes. You know it's tough for a genius to ignore his curiosity.
My plane leaves for L.A. the day after tomorrow. We'll head back to New York together."
Alvin didn't argue. Buying a ticket himself would take just as long, so why not ride in style on the billionaire's jet?
Flying back in the War God Mark III was a no-go. Alvin was even thinking about asking Tony to redesign it to lower its minimum flight speed. No matter how powerful the suit is, you gotta think about comfort!
Cleaning up the mess wasn't Alvin and Tony's problem. They snuck off to find that leg. Alvin chopped it into smaller pieces with his battle axe, packed them into a few big bags, and they each carried half, flying towards Malibu.
Alvin put up with Tony's teasing about his flying skills the whole way. As soon as they got to the villa, Alvin ditched the War God Mark III and headed to his room.
Alvin was beat and needed some shut-eye. As for the runes, ask me after I've rested and my mood's better!
Tony, feeling dumb, knocked on his iron head. Knowing Alvin was petty, why push his buttons? Now who was gonna satisfy his curiosity? It was gonna drive him nuts!
In the mansion's basement, Tony, dragging a half-asleep Alvin, grumbled, "Come on, man, check this out. This material isn't from Earth, or at least, we've never found it here. Where'd you get it?"
Alvin gave Tony a side-eye and said, "Beats me. Think of it as some ancient alien relic. I don't get how it works.
You can keep it for your long-term science projects. All I know is, it needs some special power to activate and use.
If you want, I can make you a weapon and turn it into something magical. It's super strong and won't leave you hanging against tough foes!"
Tony, frustrated, knocked on his head. This mystical stuff was way out of his league. The more science you know, the harder it is to wrap your head around this kind of thing.
Setting aside the rune Alvin gave him, Tony picked up a piece of silver-gray metal and said, "The weapon can wait. Check this out. It's the metal from that thing, and it's insane!"
He tossed the metal piece on the table and said, annoyed, "Too bad we can't replicate it. This stuff doesn't exist on Earth. It's harder than any known metal and conducts energy like a dream!
We need more tests to see if it has other properties. I'm thinking of using it to upgrade my Iron Man suit, maybe make a portable light armor.
I've always worried about the protection of light armor, but not anymore. Just hope you don't mind, I can make it up to you in other ways!"
Alvin waved him off with a grin, "No need, man. You've done plenty already, and I don't need anything. The War God Mark III is already too high-tech for me.
Sometimes, what's right for you is the best!"
Tony nodded and smiled, "Yeah, what's right for you is the best.
Different enemies need different strategies.
Maybe I should make different Iron Man suits for different situations. It's easier than trying to make one suit fit all!"
Alvin glanced around the basement at the various suits lined up against the walls and chuckled, "Haven't you always been doing that?"
Tony shook his head, "Those are just random ideas, nothing advanced, just for tech practice.
Remember that monster in New York? I'm thinking of making a big anti-monster suit just for those giant creatures!"
Alvin touched his nose and laughed, "You're a genius. You'll figure it out, but I think your idea is awesome!
Big monsters need big suits to take them down. That'd be a blast!"
At New York Airport, the blind Matt and an old, gaunt-faced blind man walked out of the terminal.
Foggy pulled up in a beat-up car to pick up Matt. After nearly a month, Foggy noticed something different about Matt. It was hard to put into words, but it was obvious.
Matt was still Matt, but his movements had changed. Everything he did seemed so natural, like being blind wasn't a problem anymore!
Before, Matt's movements were smooth, but now they were effortless.
Watching him find the car door handle without a cane, Foggy would've thought Matt could see if he wasn't still rocking those dark red sunglasses!
Matt opened the car door and respectfully helped the old man inside.
Then he hopped into the passenger seat and smiled at Foggy, "Thanks, Foggy. Let's go home!"
