Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 145: The Painful Price

Chief Misty rolled up with six squad cars and a whole crew of officers, looking like she meant business.

Alvin was caught off guard for a sec. Looked like Misty finally got her act together and wasn't flying solo anymore.

She strolled over to Alvin, eyeing the security guards sprawled out and moaning. Seeing they were still making a racket, she figured they weren't too banged up and didn't give them much thought.

With a smirk, she asked, "Alvin, you called us. So, where's the troublemaker?"

Alvin, clearly annoyed, pointed at the blind old man. "Over there. This old dude messed up my staff. Chief Misty, can you handle this instead of just standing there grinning?"

Misty waved her hand, and two young officers moved towards the old man.

The blind old guy was acting all high and mighty. He didn't budge until the officers pulled their guns, then he slowly shuffled over.

Ignoring the cops, the old man smiled at Alvin and said, "You've got some stuff here that's gonna attract some nasty folks. I can help you out with that."

Alvin shot a look at Chief Misty, signaling her to take over. He was just the guy who called the cops, after all.

Misty glanced between them but stayed quiet, motioning for her team to step back. She figured it was best to let them sort it out themselves since she didn't have the full picture.

Alvin sighed, thinking Hellfire Boulevard really toughened people up. Even this hot-headed chief had picked up some bad habits!

Rubbing his nose, Alvin looked at the old man and said, "The only problem you need to solve right now is paying for my guards' medical bills. Breaking into the school and hurting them is a big deal. You better find a good lawyer. Right, Chief Misty?" He turned to her.

The old man chuckled and said, "They're just minor injuries. They were mouthing off, so I gave them a little lesson. I can fix them up right now if needed. It's quick and easy. No need for the cops. You'll thank me. Trust me, I'm here to help the school!"

Alvin wasn't having any of it. He sneered, "You don't get to decide how to treat the injuries. I'll take my staff for a check-up. You just need to cover the medical bills. Then a lawyer will hit you with a compensation bill. Hope you can afford it. After that, it's up to the cops. They'll decide if you need some jail time. I'm sure our chief won't let a law-abiding citizen down!"

Chief Misty couldn't play dumb anymore. She stepped forward and said, "We need to arrest you now because Alvin's accusing you of assault. You kinda admitted it, so I hope you'll cooperate and not make this harder."

The old man smiled helplessly. He'd just given those guards a playful punishment for their nasty comments. Usually, when he showed his strength, people got polite real quick. Sometimes there was retaliation, but he never cared!

Who knew their boss would show up, ask a few questions, and then call the cops? Now he was in a bind. Going against the police wasn't a good move!

The old man hesitated. With all those armed thugs, shouldn't you handle this privately? Calling the cops, getting lawyers, and filing lawsuits made things tough for him!

He had no intention of fighting the police. It wasn't worth it. He said to Alvin, "Alright, I'll cover your losses and heal your men. Let's end this here. I mean no harm. There's some important stuff here that'll attract bad people. I want to take it away; otherwise, there'll be big trouble!"

Alvin shot the old blind man a mocking look. He couldn't help himself and said, "What makes you think you can just waltz in here, hurt my people, and walk away like it's no big deal? Clearly, you missed out on some basic education. Ignorance of the law is scary, man! My guys need a hospital, not your voodoo. Get yourself a good lawyer. You're in deep trouble!"

The old blind man felt a bit off. The guy in front of him seemed totally uninterested in the hidden stuff and the dangers he mentioned. It was like Alvin knew something but just didn't care.

He realized he messed up. He shouldn't have barged into an unknown place without knowing the score.

The old man thought for a moment. He didn't want to keep this going. He took a few steps, coughed, and his cane, like a striking snake, tapped the shoulders of the security guards.

The guards, who had been groaning, suddenly sat up, moving their previously dislocated shoulders. Just like that, they were healed.

Alvin raised an eyebrow, trying hard not to step back and silently cast a "reflect damage buff" on himself. This old blind man was no joke. Alvin couldn't even see the cane's movement. Getting hit by that wouldn't be fun.

Beating him or even killing him wouldn't be hard, but getting smacked around by a blind man's cane would seriously mess with his image as a principal.

The old man turned to Alvin and smiled, "Now that they're all fixed up, can we end this nonsense? I came here with good intentions, but your guys were talking trash, so I taught them a lesson. If you know anything, you should get that I mean no harm. My enemy is the Handshake Association. Maybe we can be friends!"

Alvin glared at his useless security guards, laughing in anger at the old man's words. You break into my place, hurt my people, then heal them and say it's over and you're doing me a favor? What are you smoking?

Just because your enemy is the Handshake Association doesn't mean you're my buddy! Friends don't act like this!

Ignoring the old man, Alvin looked at Chief Misty and smiled, "Can we move forward, Chief Misty? My guys have been attacked twice, in my place! You saw it yourself!"

Chief Misty looked helplessly at the old man. She didn't really want to deal with this. The old man didn't seem like a bad guy. If he said his enemy was the Handshake Association, it made him seem more like a vigilante, since the Handshake Association was a known criminal group.

In this light, Alvin seemed a bit shady. The security guards at Lincoln Valley School were known to be jerks.

Chief Misty didn't want to handle this, as bullying a disabled old man wouldn't be good for her rep, even though this old man was pretty tough.

Chief Misty glared at Alvin and politely said to the old man, "Sir, you're under arrest for assault with a weapon. You can get a lawyer, but first, you need to come with me to the station."

Alvin was ticked off by Chief Misty's polite tone. He never got treated like that. But whatever, he'd find a way to make the old man pay!

Pulling out his phone, Alvin called Donna, "Hey Donna, it's Alvin. I need a favor. Send five ambulances over. I got five injured guys. I want them at the best hospital for a full check-up. I'm worried about aftereffects."

After hanging up, Alvin looked maliciously at the old man. He was fiercely protective of his people. He couldn't bring himself to beat up the old man, and he might not even win. But making him pay was easy!

Chief Misty looked at Alvin with a devilish expression and decided she'd be more polite to him in the future. Alvin's approach was brutal. With what he was doing, the final bill would be sky-high. This dignified blind old man didn't look like someone with deep pockets!
