Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 116: The Journey

Dinner was a total drag. Alvin couldn't care less about Tony's stories, and hanging out with a billionaire? Yeah, that kinda hit his ego hard.

When Tony found out which hotel Alvin and his crew were staying at, the look on his face was pure disgust. Alvin felt like crawling under a rock.

Alvin turned down Tony's offer to hook them up with a better hotel. "What, you think I can't afford a fancy place?"

He remembered booking the hotel and making sure they only had two rooms left. It warmed his heart a bit. After being lonely for over three years, an old dude's gotta have some hopes, right?

Alvin sat on the hotel bed, looking all desperate at Ginny, who was hugging herself in cartoon PJs, staring back at him with those big eyes.

Megan, rocking a black, sexy nightgown, stood behind Ginny. She gave Alvin a weird smile, licked her lips, mimed shooting him in the head, and then strutted into the room across the hall.

Alvin held his head in his hands and let out a bitter laugh. "Alright, alright! There'll be other chances. I've waited three years; a bit longer won't kill me. My Ginny needs her dad more right now!"

After tucking the little girl in, Alvin kissed Ginny on the forehead. Looking at her angelic face, he patted his own head and smiled with relief.

Alvin realized he'd been kinda overwhelmed by desire. Maybe it was his past life messing with him, but who could resist the urge to mess with a goddess?

But that wasn't really him, and today he'd definitely gone too far. Especially with Megan, who might not even care.

Still, Alvin felt he should at least make her feel respected. That was the foundation for any future possibilities.

Three days weren't nearly enough for Alvin and Megan to really get to know each other.

Alvin always thought the process of getting to know someone and falling in love was the sweetest part.

This was good, letting Alvin drop his old ideas about Megan from his past life and get to know her all over again. Plus, he could seriously reflect on himself and see if they could eventually make something sweet happen.

Maybe Ginny was the best gift God had given him as a consolation prize!

She was his sweet anchor in this Marvel world!

She kept him from losing his way in a crazy, messed-up world!

Everyone's got something to protect in their lifetime, right?

The next day, after calling Tony, they hit the road!

Back on the road, Alvin felt awesome. People really need to get out and see the world, not just stay stuck in one place.

Reevaluating himself, Alvin changed his attitude, ditching his flirty demeanor towards Megan and treating her like a regular, beautiful girl.

Alvin admitted his old attitude was influenced by his past life. His flirty behavior towards Megan was just an old man's way of hiding his insecurities.

In this world, Alvin was strong, so he played the role of a savior entering Megan's world. But that wasn't really him, and Alvin didn't like that version of himself!

Sitting in the car, Megan noticed Alvin's change. She found it strange; this guy seemed like a different person—natural, kind, not like he was gonna devour her in one bite! This made her breathe a sigh of relief. Being chased by a gentleman was always better than being chased by a rogue!

In a good mood, Megan put her legs up on the dashboard. The same move that had made Alvin lose his mind yesterday now got her a friendly smile and an appreciative look from Alvin.

Megan was digging the new Alvin. He'd lost that intense, dangerous vibe from the day before. Sure, it was hot, but it didn't exactly scream "safe."

With Alvin back to his old self, the trip got way more fun. They hit up Philly, Chicago, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Vegas, and San Fran, spending a solid 20 days on the road.

In Philly, they soaked in the history of the Declaration of Independence, that little piece of paper that built the U.S. as we know it.

Alvin snagged two pens there, planning to give one to Nick and one to Ginny someday. He wasn't sure if Nick would dig it, but Ginny? Nah, she was more into the wigs those old dudes wore, always wanting one for herself!

In Chicago, they caught a basketball game. In Yellowstone, they got up close and personal with nature's wonders!

While camping in Yellowstone, Ginny even made friends with two little mountain lions. Of course, she needed her dad to hold the mama lion's head so she could play with the cubs without a hitch.

The Grand Canyon? Total heartbreak for Alvin. Turns out, he's got a bit of a fear of heights and couldn't wrap his head around the thrill of bungee jumping, trusting his life to a skinny rope!

A grown man holding his daughter, lugging around their stuff, under the judgmental eyes of tourists, watched Megan and Jessica bungee jump three times in a row!

The girls kept egging Alvin on to try it. They thought it was hilarious that he was scared of something.

Luckily, Alvin's 20-point strength came in handy. The two girls and three instructors couldn't budge him from his spot by the railing.

Amidst the tourists' boos, Alvin left that heartbreaking place. He didn't get what was fun about it. Risking your life? Have you ever fought vampires? Slain giant monsters? Been there, done that!

In Vegas, they caught two big shows. Alvin also hit up Caesar's Palace and lost five hundred bucks. Those slot machines were brutal!

Then he had to bail out Jessica from the police station. She'd been reported for drinking after she clocked a guy who was harassing her at the hotel bar.

Alvin didn't feel the need to stand up for Jessica because the unlucky dude was left with only 16 teeth after her punch.

Alvin thought just reporting her for drinking showed a lot of restraint. Of course, Megan scaring the guy into wetting his pants with a gun wasn't Alvin's problem. The guy didn't die, did he?

Vegas was wild, amplifying everyone's desires and leading to all sorts of crazy stuff.

After that incident, the two girls became besties. That night, they got hammered and even wanted to get married. At first, Alvin just held Ginny and watched them fool around, but when the white-haired old priest gave Alvin a disapproving look and actually opened the Bible to start the vows, Alvin quickly dragged them back to the hotel! This kind of thing wasn't a joke. The old guy didn't even try to talk them out of it and was ready to marry them off. Wasn't that a bit too quick? He didn't miss the old priest flipping him the bird!

Alvin felt they needed to get out of that crazy place fast, or who knew what else might happen!

After letting the two hungover girls rest for a day, they drove to L.A.

There was the world-famous Hollywood and Alvin's final stop on this trip, Botu!

Alvin hoped to find him smoothly and send him on a one-way trip to hell. The ticket was already bought; the arrival time depended on his physical condition!
