Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 78: Part of the Legend
The restaurant's morning should not be busy, but today was an exception.
Javin, the son of the old Cheng, was lurking at the restaurant's entrance, hesitating for a long time until Alvin waved him in.
Alvin tilted his head, signaling Javin to speak up.
Javin, this Chinese boy, scratched his head, thought for a moment, his face turning a bit red, and said excitedly, "Thank you! Principal! What happened that day wasn't your fault, you're a good man!
Charlie and Jimmy betrayed the school, that's their own business, it's quite common in Hell's Kitchen.
Please don't be disappointed in everyone, we all love this school!"
Alvin looked at Javin with amusement. This kid praised others so much that he turned red himself, which was really interesting.
Alvin stood up, high-fived and fist-bumped Javin, and said with a smile, "Thank you, kid! But now it's time for you to help your old man." With that, Alvin turned Javin 180° and gently pushed him out the door.
Javin walked to the door, clung to the door frame, made a cheering gesture, and then went to help his old man.
Alvin shook his head and laughed, thinking about Javin's words, "They all love this school." That's impossible. A bunch of wild kids, how could they all love this school?
But Alvin didn't care what they thought now. This is Hell's Kitchen; as long as they fear him, that's enough. When they grow up and look back on their time at the community school, maybe they'll think differently.
Just like when Alvin was in school in his past life, he hated his middle school homeroom teacher to the core.
But at his thirty-year class reunion, he would hug that once fierce old lady and cry, grateful for her strictness that set him on the right path in life.
Alvin sternly watched Nick finish his last bite of breakfast. Then he gently advised his daughter to eat less, saying her napkin was almost soaked with milk!
Jessica was sleeping, and Alvin told Nick not to wake her up, then let the two kids go play.
When Alvin was home, Thor and Dom were downgraded from bodyguards to babysitters. The wolf-faced Thor looked gloomy, rolling his eyes as Nick threw a dog chew toy, wanting them to fetch it.
Ginny was much cuter, rushing up to hug Thor's neck, snuggling her little face into his thick fur, and acting all cutesy. The honest Thor had to lower himself to let her climb onto his back. Ginny raised her little fist, cheering like a righteous lady knight under Nick's envious gaze.
Alvin shook his head with a smile, got up, and started cleaning up the dishes, putting them all in the sink.
At this moment, Professor Cage and Professor Wilson walked into the restaurant.
Alvin wiped the water off his hands and smiled as he poured them each a cup of coffee.
Professor Cage, being impatient, took a sip of coffee and said, "Alvin, what are you going to do with those two kids?
You need to figure it out quickly. Last night, Anton stole his dad's hunting rifle and sneaked into the school with Zack, trying to take out those two kids. Luckily, Professor Wilson caught them, or we would have lost two good kids.
Old Parker scolded Anton and Zack and sent them home.
But those two kids are terrified and always want to leave the school. What should we do?
We can't just let it go. When I passed by the school gate this morning, I still saw a few boys 'loitering' there. Normally, they wouldn't go near the school during holidays."
Alvin was a bit dismissive of Professor Cage calling Anton and Zack good kids. Good kids wouldn't steal their dad's hunting rifle to try to kill their classmates, even if those classmates were so-called traitors.
But this is the ecosystem of Hell's Kitchen. Traitors have no place here. The kids who truly identify with the school see it as a big family. If you betray the family, you deserve to die. That's why Alvin wanted to keep them in school.
Alvin looked at old Cage with some frustration and said, "So what should I do? Kick them out? Then they're dead for sure!
I just talked to Stark last night, asking him not to press charges against these two kids.
I guess there will be a few more kids like them coming to the school soon. What should I do?"
Professor Wilson took a slow sip of coffee and said, "Alvin, you're a good man, but you're not God! You need to consider the feelings of all the students and teachers in the school.
I looked into the situation. Those two kids were indeed used, and I even checked their grades for the past year, which were quite decent.
But keeping them in school might be more cruel than sending them to jail. They might even lose their lives, and then they'd be truly ruined."
Alvin smiled helplessly and said, "I'm not God, but I really don't know what to do now. Professor Wilson, I can't kick them out of school! I still believe they deserve a second chance!"
Professor Wilson nodded in agreement and said, "You're right, they deserve a second chance. So I wrote a letter to an old friend of mine in New Jersey. He's the principal of a private school, and he agreed to take these two kids for their final year.
The rest is up to them. After all, they'll be eighteen next year, right?"
It was clear that the two old professors had their opinions about these two kids. Professor Wilson was right. Keeping them in school, living under constant scrutiny and fear, would truly ruin them!
And it wouldn't be fair to the other kids either. The two old professors were just following their instincts from years in education, making a final consideration for these two kids. They didn't like them much either, after all, they had betrayed the school.
See, this is Hell's Kitchen. It's changing two highly respected old professors. The school is becoming their home, and they see all the kids as their family. Otherwise, with Professor Wilson's strict nature, Anton and Zack would have been in the police station yesterday.
Alvin, a bit emotional, hugged Professor Wilson and said, "Thank you! Thank you, Professor Wilson, you've been a great help. Without you, I wouldn't know if I could handle this in the end!"
Professor Wilson patted Alvin's shoulder and said with a smile, "Alvin, you're a good man! These are things we should do for you and the school."
The old professor then modestly adjusted his stiff suit and said, "After all, this is our last career!"
The rough Professor Cage slapped the table and shouted, "Kid, you keep all the messy stuff out of the school, and we'll make sure to teach these kids well. Remember, when I die, put up a statue of me and bury my ashes underneath!
Let me be a part of the damn legend!"
