Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 67: She's doomed, I tell you!
Danny Rand had never encountered such a terrifying enemy, but he still bravely stood in front of Alvin.
"Why are you treating her so cruelly, you beast, executioner? Colleen is a good girl. My God, look at what you've done!" Danny shouted angrily.
Alvin shrugged, looking at the trembling man, and smiled, "Looks like you like her! Like a bitch whose job is to train kids to be killers? Buddy, I gotta say, your taste is pretty average!"
Danny, enduring the pain in his body, waved his hands incredulously, "That's impossible. Colleen isn't like that. She cares about those kids. She's helping them."
Alvin impatiently shook his head and said, "Helping? How? By gathering kids from tough backgrounds, feeding them, and then holding a killer draft?"
Alvin glanced at Colleen, who was clearly awake and lying on the stone table, and coldly said to Danny, "You call someone like that innocent? Or do you think what she's doing is right? That those kids from tough backgrounds should turn to crime?"
Danny's expression turned grim. He glanced at the miserable Colleen and anxiously said to Alvin, "But she didn't know what she was doing. Everything was manipulated by Bakuto. She was deceived."
Seeing Colleen's worsening condition, Danny blurted out, "It was those kids' choice. You have no right to interfere!"
Alvin laughed, a strange laugh, and looked at Danny as if he were a worm, "How do you know she was deceived?"
Alvin's gaze turned cold, "You knew she was doing bad things, and you didn't stop her. Instead, you come to stop me? Let me guess, you like her?"
Seeing Danny's hesitant face, Alvin raised his hand to stop Danny's explanation and said, "In your eyes, those kids should be like that, right?
You give them a bite to eat, and that's the greatest kindness. They should become those kinds of people!
Just because they were born in Hell's Kitchen?"
Danny anxiously wanted to defend Colleen but didn't know what to say, so he shouted, "She doesn't know what she's doing. She's innocent!"
Alvin, losing patience, took a step closer to Danny, his expression ferocious, and said softly, "In the past, those kids had no choice because Hell's Kitchen made choices for them.
Now they have a choice because the community school gives them another option. It gives them a chance to be good people.
You should be grateful! Your name isn't on my kill list, Mr. Danny Rand!
Now you should stand aside and watch me kill this bitch, then get out of here!"
Danny stood desperately and stubbornly in front of Alvin, raising his fists, which glowed with a silver light, trying to stop Alvin's murderous intent.
Alvin shook his head, not wanting to entangle with Danny, raised his gun, and prepared to shoot Danny in the leg.
"Snap~"
A familiar white cane struck Alvin's gun.
"Bang~"
The bullet grazed Danny's knee and hit the ground.
Seeing the familiar white cane, Alvin laughed angrily, "Matt! Mr. Matt Murdock, are you going to stop me too?"
Daredevil Matt, though without his cane, walked in like a normal person from the doorway.
Matt patted the shoulder of JJ, who was glaring at him, walked to Alvin's side, sighed, and said, "Stop, Alvin, stop. Danny isn't a bad person, and neither is Colleen. She was just deceived."
Alvin didn't speak, wanting to hear what Matt had to say.
Seeing Alvin's silence, Matt said solemnly, "Colleen was just deceived by Bakuto. She didn't know she was training killers for him.
Danny and I have been investigating an organization called The Hand, and Bakuto is one of them. Colleen is Danny's girlfriend. She's innocent."
Alvin felt a chill down his spine. He had to reassess Matt. Was this still the Daredevil he knew?
Or were they not from the same world?
Alvin coldly said, "Matt, I've always considered you a friend!
You always tell me you want to change Hell's Kitchen, make it better. I believed you! But now you tell me you knew what this woman was doing, and you didn't stop her.
Now you tell me she was deceived, so she's not guilty.
Matt, have you ever thought about those kids she sent to be killers?
Or do you think those kids should be like that?
That's the path they should take!
Just because they were born in Hell's Kitchen?"
Furious, Alvin grabbed Matt by the collar and angrily said, "In your heart, do you think those kids should become bad guys?
So you can fulfill your dream of being a superhero every night.
I always thought we were friends,
But now I think I might have misunderstood you!"
Matt didn't get angry. He gently patted Alvin's arm and said, "Calm down, Alvin. You're a good person, but you're not God. You can't decide if someone is guilty based on your thoughts.
We need to calm down. Colleen has already been punished. She made a mistake, but she shouldn't die. You need to give her a chance to make amends."
Alvin coldly laughed, let go of Matt, and straightened his messed-up collar, smiling, "Mr. Murdock, if someone taught your kid to do drugs, what would you do?
If someone cleaned up your daughter and sent her to a rapist's bed, then told you they didn't know he was a rapist, what would you do?
Would you give them a chance to atone?"
Matt's face turned pale, "But Colleen really didn't know. She always thought she was helping those kids."
Alvin coldly laughed, "How? By teaching them to fight? Teaching them to kill? Then sending them to this Hand organization?
She's an adult. Doesn't she know what this Hand wants with these fighting kids?
Is the Hand going to make them security guards? Or is the Hand a recruitment office for the U.S. Army?
Does she think these kids should be criminals? Why not send them to be organized criminals?
Matt, we're all adults. Let's not fool ourselves.
If you tell me she's your friend, so you want to protect her, I'd feel better.
Those kids, in your eyes, might just be kids born in Hell's Kitchen.
But now they're my students, my kids!
She's dead, I said it!
Because this is Hell's Kitchen, a place even God can't control."
As Alvin and Matt were at a standoff, Colleen, who had been tied to the stone table, struggled desperately, not caring that her shoulder was about to tear apart.
Colleen screamed desperately:
"Kill me! Kill me!
I didn't know they would become killers!
Kill me!
Stop talking!
Kill me!
Please!"
Right and wrong, life and death
After reading the last chapter, I saw two readers arguing. Actually, I want to say a few words.
This world is truly contradictory. No one is absolutely right or wrong. What determines right and wrong is the standpoint.
In the character setting, Alvin is only familiar with some of the most famous Marvel movie characters. He doesn't know who Colleen is.
Alvin thinks she deserves to die because she trained his kids to be killers, which is not wrong.
Matt wants to protect her because she's a friend, which is also not wrong.
Danny wants to protect his girlfriend, which is even more understandable.
From a standpoint, everyone is guilty.
Alvin is ruthless and wants to kill Colleen without considering if she might be innocent, which is guilty!
Matt and Danny want to protect someone who recruits kids into a killer organization, which is guilty.
When we argue, no one discusses the real victims, those kids.
When you truly stand in those kids' shoes, can you decide who is right and who is wrong?
Maybe those kids are also guilty because they were born in Hell's Kitchen!
Why be so cruel to Colleen in the book? Firstly, because she did it in the TV show, and it's easier to write with visuals. Secondly, using Colleen's character highlights Alvin's attitude towards the kids in Hell's Kitchen, making it more impactful. I've always wanted to portray Alvin as a character with flesh and blood, but maybe I haven't done a good job. It only shows Alvin's ruthlessness.
This book mainly highlights family. The Peace Hotel is a small family. The community school is a big family.
I hope to write all characters with flesh and blood, but it might not be perfect due to my writing skills. Please bear with me!
At the very least, Alvin is qualified!
All future plot developments will revolve around the hotel and the school. The protagonist will not go around saving the world like a fool. That's too un-Alvin, too un-Hell's Kitchen!
Finally, I hope everyone can like the character Alvin.
