Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 137: Tony's Cancer

5 min 59.3K views

With Tony's dead-on aim, those four "Maverick" missiles nailed the Destroyer, blowing it up so hard it made a freakin' mushroom cloud in the desert!

Alvin looked up at Tony floating around and yelled into his comm, "Watch it, Tony! That thing's not dead yet. Don't let that red beam hit you!"

Tony waved back and hollered, "You haven't even thanked me! Flying all the way from Malibu ain't exactly a short trip!"

Alvin just ignored him. He stopped outside the blast zone, checking things out since the Asgardians hadn't shown up yet.

Right at the edge of the explosion, four Asgardians were huddled up, shielding Thor from the blast.

The Destroyer bounced back quick and spotted them, its face opening up to fire that red beam at the Asgardian crew!

Fandral, already beat up, was in rough shape. He shoved the black-haired warrior Hogun away, gave a sad smile, and stood in front of Thor, not planning to move.

Valkyrie Sif, with one arm all burnt, gritted her teeth and held up Thor, staring down the Destroyer, ready for the final showdown!

Legless Volstagg was on the ground, cussing out the Destroyer.

As the Destroyer fired that red beam to finish them off, Thor, now fully awake, shoved Valkyrie Sif aside, yanked Fandral away, and stood there with his arms wide open in front of his buddies.

Thor, eyes blazing with rage, yelled, "Father!"

Just as the red beam was about to hit Thor and the gang, two energy blasts nailed the Destroyer's neck, making the beam miss and dig a trench in the ground!

Tony saved the day at the last second, but seeing the red beam's power for the first time, he gasped and shouted, "What the hell is that thing?"

Alvin charged at the Destroyer, yelling, "Stay away from that thing; it can really kill you!"

Tony, still freaked out, didn't play tough this time. He hit up the military pilots, telling them to back off. The air-to-ground missiles were useless, so no point in sticking around.

Before Alvin could get to the center, something wild happened near Thor. Little sparks of electricity started buzzing around him, getting stronger by the second.

Thor stood there, eyes locked on the Destroyer, roaring in anger, his right hand out like he was waiting for something!

Alvin knew that move—Thor was calling for his hammer!

Alvin didn't get why Thor suddenly went berserk, but he knew he had to stall the Destroyer. This wasn't a movie; if Thor got killed, who else could take down the Destroyer?

War God 3 charged at the Destroyer's feet, chopping off one of its legs and making it wobble.

Before it could get back up, Alvin took a few steps and swung his axe at the Destroyer's face, making it choke on its own red beam.

Seeing Alvin knock down the Destroyer, Tony swooped down, blasting away with both hands. But it didn't do much; the Destroyer's shell was like, immune to energy attacks.

Frustrated, Tony shouted into the comm, "Why do these things keep showing up? Is Earth totally screwed?"

Alvin got into a groove, hacking at the Destroyer like he was chopping wood. Every time the Destroyer's face started to glow, he'd smack it with his axe, making it choke on its own red beam. He even managed to lop off its flailing arms.

But it was like trying to empty the ocean with a bucket; the Destroyer just kept bouncing back, its energy never running out. It was slow but crazy strong. Anyone else would've been toast by now.

Alvin's moves weren't fancy, and his fighting style was pretty basic, but his enchanted axe packed a punch. If the Destroyer wasn't so damn unkillable, it would've been sent straight to hell by now.

As Alvin kept hacking away, he heard Thor yell, "Move aside!"

Alvin barely had time to look before he saw Thor, now decked out in some ridiculously tight armor, swinging a massive hammer. Thor jumped high and brought the hammer down on the Destroyer's chest with everything he had.

The blast sent Alvin flying, his "reflect damage buff" and "Needle Aura" doing squat against the pure energy attack, just softening the blow a bit.

A bit rattled, Alvin scrambled to his feet. Thor's strike had caught him off guard. Both had enchanted weapons, but why did Thor's hammer look so epic while his axe seemed so... basic? The difference was night and day.

Tony flew over, looking worried, and asked, "You good? That looked brutal!"

Alvin got up, punched Tony's arm, and laughed, "You wouldn't wanna try it!"

Tony glanced at Thor, who was going nuts on the Destroyer's chest, and said, "Are these guys aliens? If we go to war, do we even stand a chance?"

Alvin laughed, "It's not that bad. We can still go down swinging!"

Tony shot back, "Your optimism is something else!"

Alvin pointed at Thor, who was hammering away like a madman, and said, "So what do you suggest? Not all aliens are this tough. If a few show up looking for trouble, I'll just chop 'em up.

If they're all this strong, we'll go down fighting, taking as many with us as we can!"

Tony had a different take. After a moment, he said, "I know I probably shouldn't ask, but can you share your weapon modding secrets with me? You've got some special tricks. Look at your axe; I didn't even know something this powerful existed on Earth!"

Alvin handed the axe to Tony and laughed, "I do have some special methods, but they probably can't be replicated. I don't wanna explain where they come from. I can give you some samples for research; it's pretty cool.

But don't spend too much time on this. You should know your own path, right?

However, you can design a weapon for yourself, and I can offer some tips! Haha!"

Tony lifted the axe, curious. This was the same axe that had just chopped the unkillable Destroyer to pieces. The axe wasn't the problem; the Destroyer was just that tough.

Tony had attacked the Destroyer and knew how strong its defenses were. If the axe could slice through the Destroyer, what couldn't it cut?

Researchers love to dig deep, and Tony was no different—maybe even worse.

Tony fought the urge to take the axe for research and handed it back to Alvin, saying, "I'll take your word for it. When we get back, you gotta explain everything to me. My curiosity is killing me!"
