Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 62: The World of the Rich
Alvin was quite happy, but his mood would be even better if Stark wasn't around.
Stark was in a good mood. Recently, his position in the company's board of directors had been quite favorable. A mysterious major shareholder had been supporting him, giving Stark an absolute advantage on the board.
Stark had already kicked out two minor shareholders from the board who were unhappy with his decision to shut down the weapons division. Now, with Stark Industries' stock price being very low, he acquired their shares without much cost.
Stark's main target now was "Obadiah Stane." He was a veteran of Stark Industries and had made significant contributions to its development. He also had considerable influence within the U.S. military.
Stark didn't want to make a big fuss about kicking out the man who had watched him grow up. He wanted to "persuade" him to leave his position gracefully; otherwise, his records of trading weapons with terrorists would end up in the FBI's office.
Alvin impatiently looked at the chattering Stark and said, "Buddy, I have no interest in your company's affairs. Maybe you should go to Pepper and see if she needs anything!"
Alvin pointed to Pepper, who was dressed to the nines and chatting happily with a few young male teachers from the school.
Stark glanced in Pepper's direction, waved dismissively, and said arrogantly, "Those guys don't stand a chance. Their annual salary isn't even enough to buy one pair of Pepper's shoes."
Alvin looked at Stark as if he were looking at dog poop and cursed, "You seriously wear ten thousand dollars on your feet?"
Stark shrugged indifferently and looked at Alvin with some sympathy, saying, "Buddy, you really need to get out more. Your understanding of the world is too shallow. Do you know that celebrity ***?"
Seeing Alvin's puzzled expression, Stark smirked and said, "Since she entered the industry, she's spent over ten million dollars on her chest."
Alvin couldn't understand these people's concept of money. Throughout his two lifetimes, he always heard about who was super rich and what they bought, but he never felt that the money was spent meaningfully.
You drive a Rolls-Royce, but you'll still get stuck in traffic at 8 AM. You carry a Hermès bag, but it's still just a bag to hold things, and you still have to put a roll of toilet paper in it.
Rich people use expensive luxury items to create several social strata based on price, artificially inflating the value of these things.
What's the point?
After two lifetimes, Alvin still couldn't understand the world of the wealthy.
Alvin looked at Stark indifferently and said, "Buddy, I didn't know you were interested in actresses' chests. Have you studied them?"
Stark winked proudly and said, "Of course, many times!"
Alvin didn't want to talk to this playboy anymore. He hadn't even found a girlfriend in this lifetime, and Stark was talking about sleeping with actresses. Speaking of which, where was that girl he saw last time? Why wasn't she here? She should be part of the school staff!
Seeing Alvin's displeased expression, Stark laughed and said, "Buddy, you need to get used to these topics. You'll encounter similar situations often in the future. Maybe I can throw a party and invite some models and celebrities. You might catch the eye of one of them."
Alvin waved him off, pointed to the light on Stark's chest, and said, "Buddy, your most important task is to change the battery in that light on your chest, not to discuss these things with me."
JJ, who had been eavesdropping, seemed quite unhappy that Alvin ended the topic. What a great piece of gossip! Why stop now?
Stark punched JJ lightly on the chest, indicating that he would tell him more later, then looked at Alvin and said, "There's been some progress. A major shareholder of Stark Industries sent me my father's research notes. The content has given me great inspiration. I have a feeling I'll soon find the key to solving the problem."
Alvin knew that the major shareholder must be S.H.I.E.L.D., but what did that have to do with him? They were in the business of protecting the Earth. As long as they didn't bother him, Alvin might even applaud them!
Alvin nodded and said, "That's good. I hope you can fix it soon. You still owe me a school building!"
Stark nonchalantly said, "Stop bringing up the school building. I've already asked Pepper to contact that guy Nathan from your school."
Ignoring Alvin's correction that the guy's name was Nelson, Stark continued, "In a few days, Stane will resign from his CEO position. Interested in coming to Afghanistan with me to deal with those terrorists? My Mark II has undergone hundreds of test flights and is ready for combat."
Alvin laughed and shook his head, saying, "You really are a troublesome guy. I can't understand how the U.S. military allows a lunatic to fly around in a mech suit.
And buddy, I have to seriously say, when someone falls from a high position, they can become very dangerous. You better be careful. Without that suit, you're just a weakling. Any boy in our school above ninth grade could beat you up."
Stark nodded and said proudly, "I'll be careful. Happy hired a team of bodyguards for me, led by a very hot chick. You'll see when you meet her. I'm not kidding."
Alvin looked at Stark's smug face and couldn't understand why a girl like Pepper would like a guy like him. If it were Alvin, he would have gotten Stark drunk and thrown him into the sea long ago.
Ignoring Stark, Alvin looked around the scene. His daughter was happily eating with Mrs. Wilson. When she saw her dad looking at her, she waved cheerfully, signaling Alvin to join her.
Alvin walked over, kissed Ginny on the cheek, and the little girl happily stuffed a big piece of salmon into his mouth. "Eat, it's delicious, Daddy, eat more."
This girl was so filial. Alvin proudly smiled at the jealous Mrs. Wilson and received a playful punch from the old lady.
He patted Ginny's head and walked towards Jessica.
There was a well-dressed, handsome young man with slicked-back hair talking to Jessica.
Judging by Jessica's impatient expression, if Alvin didn't show up soon, the handsome guy was going to get punched.
Alvin walked over and greeted with a smile, "Hi!"
Jessica saw Alvin and happily jumped to his side, hugging one of his arms. She bared her teeth at the handsome guy and said, "Mr. Ward Meachum, I'm not interested in your Rand Corporation. And besides, your last name isn't Rand."
